Jay Shah congratulates ICC Player of the Month award winners for June 2025
South Africa batter Markram and West Indies skipper Matthews were announced as the winners of the ICC Men's and Women's Player of the Month awards for June 2025.
Taking to X, Shah wrote, 'Congratulations to Hayley Matthews and Aiden Markram on their @ICC Player of the Month Awards. Aiden's performance to lead South Africa to the #WTC25 title was simply amazing while for Matthews this was her record-equalling fourth POTM Award after a great month with bat and ball.'

Markram won the men's award ahead of team-mate Kagiso Rabada and Sri Lanka opener Pathum Nissanka for his for Player of the Match effort in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final against Australia at Lord's.
The 30-year-old opener struck a solid 136 off 207 balls and featured in a 147-run third-wicket stand with captain Temba Bavuma in a successful chase of 282. The five-wicket victory helped South Africa win an ICC Title for the first time since the Champions Trophy in 1998. Markram also picked up a wicket each in the two innings.
Matthews, who has previously won the awards in November 2021, October 2023, and April 2024, edged South Africa's Tazmin Brits and compatriot Afy Fletcher to become only the second player to win the award four times after Australia all-rounder Ashleigh Gardner.
The West Indies skipper scored 104 runs in the three ODIs against South Africa, which included a half-century in the third match. She also grabbed four wickets in the series. Her fine run continued in the subsequent 2-1 T20I series win. She was named Player of the Series for her two fifties in an aggregate of 147 runs and two wickets. (ANI)

Both our men's and women's teams were invited by King Charles and met him at the Palace. The players were very happy because he asked about personal details of each one of them," Shukla said. 'He even inquired about Akash Deep's sister's illness. He had clearly done his research." Shukla also recounted a surprising moment when King Charles asked about Arun Jaitley, a close associate of Shukla and a former BCCI figure. 'He asked Saikia ji [BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia] and me whether Arun Jaitley was my friend. When I told him he had passed away, the King expressed his condolences and asked me to convey them to his family," Shukla added. Shukla said the team was struck by the King's modest and approachable demeanor. 'He had so many details memorized. He truly came across as a gentleman—it didn't feel like we were speaking to the King of England. There was a great deal of humility in him, and the team was very happy to meet him." Akash Deep's Emotional Dedication Akash Deep, who has emerged as a standout performer in the ongoing Test series, earned praise for his match-winning 10-wicket haul in the second Test at Edgbaston. His efforts included a stunning 6/99 in the second innings, bowling out England for 271 as they chased an unlikely target of 608. After the match, the 28-year-old pacer dedicated his performance to his sister, who has been battling cancer for the past two months. 'Every time I had the ball in my hand, her thoughts would cross my mind," Akash told Cheteshwar Pujara during a post-match chat on Jio Hotstar. 'I haven't spoken about this before, but two months ago, my sister was diagnosed with cancer. This performance is for her—I hope it brings some happiness back. India To Face England And New Zealand In ICC Women's ODI World Cup Warmups
Last month, the ICC had announced the schedule of the quadrennial event with India taking on Sri Lanka in Bengaluru in the tournament opener on September 30. Defending champions Australia get their campaign underway taking on neighbours New Zealand. While India have the hosting rights, Pakistan will play their matches including semifinal and final (should Pakistan qualify) in Colombo as per the Hybrid Model due to the diplomatic tensions between the two countries. A total of 31 matches will be played during the tournament including two semifinals and the final. The league stage will conclude on October 26 when India face Bangladesh, also in Bengaluru. The first semifinal will be played either in Guwahati or Colombo on October 29 with the second semifinal on the next day.
