The post Red Sox call up top prospect Roman Anthony appeared first on ClutchPoints.
The Boston Red Sox took two out of three games against the New York Yankees on the road this weekend. It may be the set that turns their season around after a dreadful first two months. Since Tristan Casas went down with an injury, fans have been clamoring for one particular reinforcement from Worcester. On Monday, Jeff Passan of ESPN reported that the Red Sox have called up top prospect Roman Anthony, finally granting those fans their wish.

'The Boston Red Sox are calling up outfielder Roman Anthony, the best prospect in baseball, sources tell ESPN. Anthony, 21, is expected to join the team today,' Passan reported.
And if Passan was not enough, a fan took a video as Roman Anthony pulled his car out of a parking lot. He confirmed that he is heading to the Red Sox.
Over the weekend, Roman Anthony stunned the baseball world with a 497-foot grand slam for the Worcester Red Sox. As the Boston club was beating their bitter rivals, Alex Cora clearly took notice. According to The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal, Wilyer Abreu went to the injured list to facilitate this move. He also reported that Anthony will make his debut, batting fifth, on Monday.

Anthony is the top prospect in baseball, according to MLB.com. He is hitting .288 with a .914 OPS in AAA this season in AAA and plays a solid defensive outfield. Boston picked Anthony in the second round of the 2o22 draft, and he quickly rose through the ranks. He started in rookie ball in 2022 and made a stop at every level before Monday's promotion.
While the Red Sox do have a poor record to start this year, they have a big week that can turn it around. They welcome the Tampa Bay Rays to Fenway starting on Monday and have another series with the Yankees over the weekend. Anthony could help them make a statement in the AL East.

PGA Tour Poaches Top NFL Executive as Tour's New CEO

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. For months, rumors swirled about Jay Monahan's future with the PGA Tour. In May, we even saw reports listing potential candidates to lead the Tour, but nothing was confirmed. The Tour remained silent, keeping speculation alive, until ESPN's Adam Schefter broke the news amid golf's biggest event - the US Open. As big names like Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, and Bryson DeChambeau battled at Oakmont, reports revealed Brian Rolapp as the new PGA Tour CEO. Brian Rolapp, a highly respected longtime NFL executive who some consider as the potential successor to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, is leaving his post as the league's EVP to become PGA Tour CEO, sources tell @sethwickersham and me. According to Sports Business Journal, he will work closely with PGA Tour Enterprises, the Tour's for-profit branch, which launched last year after a $1.5 billion investment from the Strategic Sports Group. Interestingly, the news didn't come from the PGA Tour itself. On the Golf Channel podcast, Rex Hoggard and Ryan Lavner pointed fingers at the NFL, saying: "I think there was a little bit of pushback, as a rule in the industry, the PGA Tour wouldn't make any kind of announcement or any kind of leak about news like this during a major championship," Rex Hoggard stated. "The U.S. Open is run by the USGA" he continued. "To be clear, this news came from the NFL side." "This did not come from the PGA Tour." What does this mean for the PGA Tour & Monahan? The CEO search began in December, with the Tour making it clear they wanted an outsider with fresh perspectives. "We are bringing new perspectives on our team to help us realize the incredible opportunities for our sport," the Tour announced last December. The timing wasn't random, though. (Photo by) More Getty Images Monahan had faced increasing pressure, particularly with stalled merger talks and player frustrations over Saudi Arabia's PIF negotiations. Despite that, his leadership has delivered major financial wins. Over the past three months, the Tour has secured 14 new deals, bringing in $400 million. By 2035, total sponsorship commitments are projected to exceed $4 billion. Said that, Monahan is leaving nowhere. Rolapp won't replace him but will serve as the Tour's first-ever CEO, reporting directly to Monahan. His primary role will include steering commercial growth, handling business decisions, and leading negotiations with LIV Golf. Rolapp's hire is a shake-up for the NFL too When Roger Goodell signed his last extension in 2023, speculation about his eventual successor erupted. Rolapp was a frontrunner, having been instrumental in securing the NFL's record-breaking $111 billion media rights deal. Many believed he would be the next commissioner. 🚨💼⛳️ JUST IN — Brian Rolapp, the 2nd highest executive at the NFL is leaving his role to become the Chief Executive Officer of the PGA TOUR, sources confirm to @AdamSchefter. — NUCLR GOLF (@NUCLRGOLF) June 12, 2025 But instead of preparing to run the biggest sports league in America, he's now stepping into golf's biggest business role. As the NFL's Chief Media and Business Officer, he helped turn the league into a media powerhouse. He was the architect behind Thursday Night Football's rise and played a key role in securing the NFL's massive media rights deal. And the PGA Tour expects no less! Coco Gauff on LeBron James' aura while carrying flag during Olympics

Coco Gauff on LeBron James' aura while carrying flag during Olympics It has been a little while since LeBron James has won the NBA championship, but last summer, he experienced basketball glory in a different way. He joined Team USA men's basketball, and along with fellow veteran superstars such as Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant, he led the squad to a gold medal over France at the Summer Olympics. Those Olympics were held in France, and the opening ceremony featured boats traversing the Seine. James was chosen to bear the American flag along with Coco Gauff, one of the best women's tennis players in the world. Gauff recently won the French Open, and James co-signed a tweet by former President Barack Obama congratulating her on the victory. Gauff went on ESPN's "First Take" and talked about her experience bearing the United States flag along with James. 'We were just high on vibes,' Gauff said. 'We were both geeking out that we were holding the flag. He was huge. And it's crazy, that's how you know he's just iconic because you have a sea full of Olympians, the best in their sport and they like parted the Red Sea for him. You would have thought he was Moses the way he walked through with his shades on. So yeah, he has that untouchable aura for sure.' Team USA men's basketball was coming off a dismal performance in the FIBA World Cup during the summer of 2023, during which it failed to medal. James and some other superstars almost instantly volunteered to play in the 2024 Olympics in order to make sure the program returned to its rightful place at the top of FIBA competition. While James didn't score a lot of points during last summer's Olympics, his all-around play in multiple facets of the game led to him being named the MVP of the basketball tournament.

Texans GM Nick Caserio downplays C.J. Stroud's shoulder injury, stating team was 'careful'

Texans GM Nick Caserio downplays C.J. Stroud's shoulder injury, stating team was 'careful' Everyone has a thought on Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud's shoulder issue that kept him out through the first six days of voluntary OTA workouts, including general manager Nick Caserio. The difference between the GM and the folks on ESPN is that one is looking for offseason content. The other knows it's nothing more than a bunch of mumbo jumbo. "Honestly, it was much ado about nothing," Caserio said in a Thursday morning appearance on SportsRadio 610's Payne & Pendergast. "In the spring, we're just trying to make good, smart manage the player as we see fit. In the end, the focus is on getting him ready for training camp. He had a good attitude when he was in the building. He obviously trained and worked on his body and his overall strength development which that's what the offseason program is usually for." Stroud, who enters a crucial Year 3 as the face of the franchise, threw the final two days of Texans' minicamp at a limited capacity. Speaking after Tuesday's workout, the Pro Bowl quarterback said he spent the offseason aiming to lose body fat, gain muscle and get faster and stronger. "I was already throwing before you guys got to see me out there, pretty normally, I think y'all don't have much to talk about so everything is blown up," Stroud said after practice. The Texans were simply being cautious with Stroud's role this offseason after being sacked 52 times during the 2024 season. Texans coach DeMeco Ryans and new offensive coordinator downplayed the injury, stating he'd be good to go for the start of the regular season. "It's important for me to just make sure we're protecting him," Ryans said. "To make sure we know what's best for C.J. and not really worry about the outside opinions. Nobody knows the information about our players more than me." Caserio offered a similar sentiment surrounding the status of his franchise signal-caller, stating that while he might be limited in reps, that doesn't mean he's slacking on work around the building in other areas. "Going back to February through March even before the offseason program we had a number of players who were here. Early on, in February or March, it might be a combination of in the building, out of the building but you know they are getting in work. C.J., when he does leave Houston, he goes off to California where he has some resources and some people he utilizes out there at UCLA where he can actually get his work in," Caserio said. The Texans open the regular season on the road at SoFi Stadium against the Los Angeles Rams on Sept. 7.
