‘Screaming' family calls dad when alligator knocks at front door, FL video shows

Miami Herald25-04-2025

Goofy things are expected when kids call their dad for unexpected reasons, but Tramaine Gaines was in disbelief when his family claimed an alligator was trying to break in.
A security camera confirmed it, however.
'Got a call about 30 min ago from my wife and kids screaming come help there is a gator at our front door,' Gaines wrote in a Wednesday, April 23, Facebook post.
'I check the Ring camera to find this massive gator chilling. Trying to get in the damn door. You can't make this up.'
It happened around 7 p.m. Wednesday, at a home outside of Orlando, and multiple videos of the strange visit have appeared on social media.
Gaines' wife, wedding photographer Nathalie Gaines, said suspicious sounds led her discover the 'massive' alligator lying across the doormat — with its mouth open.
'I heard a knock at the door, and then nothing else. I waited a little while, and then I heard it again,' she told WOFL. 'The first time, when it knocked at the door, it stood up and kind of banged on the door, and then laid back down.'
The fate of the alligator was not revealed, but one video shows it eventually left the porch and took off for a wooded area.
It is alligator courtship season in Florida, a time when the reptiles wander in search of mates.
That search occasionally takes alligators through populated areas and even onto porches, experts say.

Advertisement And he was keen to thank those who helped him raise funds for the Mind of the Student charity. Chris said: "These things are always hard to put together and run but it was great to have so many great guests. "It was nice to speak to those who played such a key part during the club's struggles and to really sit back and reflect on how far we've come before we kept caught up in the madness of Wembley. "A big thanks also goes to Data Migrator for sponsoring the livestream and the Railway for hosting. "We had more than 6,000 people tuned in for most of it and we raised a good amount of money for a cause so close to my heart too." Advertisement Among those to join Chris for interviews were Darryl Flahavan, Justin Rees, Steve Tilson, Tom Lawrence, Daniel Cowan, Barry Corr, Duncan Jupp and Jason Demetriou. Chris also spoke with Mitchell Drew - the young fan he memorably photographed cleaning the never give up sign at Roots Hall - plus several supporters who have flown in from all around the world to be at Wembley. National League expert Sam Collyer also gave his views on Sunday's game. Chris added: "The stream can still be watched via my Twitter channel and on Facebook for anyone who might be interested. "People can still donate too."

No proof Jelly Roll announced he would invest $20M to create dog sanctuary and rescue

Around May 12, 2025, a claim circulated (archived) that the American rapper and singer Jelly Roll announced he would invest $20 million to create a sanctuary dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating stray dogs. (Facebook user IBa Jannant Eba) The claim read: BREAKING NEWS: Jelly Roll broke the internet with a shocking announcement: he will invest $20 million to build a "paradise" dedicated to rescuing stray dogs, promising love and homes to thousands of abandoned puppies Country music star Jelly Roll, born Jason DeFord, has long been celebrated for his heartfelt lyrics and philanthropic endeavors. Building upon his commitment to making a positive impact, Jelly Roll has announced plans to invest $20 million into creating a sanctuary dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating stray dogs. The claim appeared mainly on Facebook (archived) and Instagram (archived). Snopes readers wrote in to ask if it was true. However, we found no proof that the claim, though heartwarming, was true. There was no trace of the alleged announcement on Jelly Roll's official Instagram or TikTok pages. We also found (archived) no (archived) reports (archived) from credible news sources about the alleged $20 million investment. Additionally, text and two images that circulated with the claim showed signs of being the products of artificial intelligence (AI) software. We reached out to Jelly Roll's label Stoney Creek Records and representatives at AAE Music, the singer's booking agency, to ask if the claim was true. We await their replies. The claim about Jelly Roll's alleged dog sanctuary investment had the air of copypasta — a copied-and-pasted text shared online. Identical versions of the text on Facebook and Instagram were equally vague about the details of Jelly Roll's alleged investment. The text said nothing about where the alleged sanctuary would be built, the timeline for the project or whether it involved working with any established animal rescue groups. a website that can detect whether a sample of text was AI-generated, said the copy-pasted text was "most likely" generated by AI. Hive Moderation and Sightengine, two websites that can detect AI in photos, said it was highly likely that two photos from the post allegedly showing Jelly Roll embracing various dogs were AI-generated. Another photo of Jelly Roll that circulated with the claim was real. (Sightengine/Hive Moderation/ Illustration) Regardless of the truth of this particular claim, Jelly Roll is a confirmed dog owner. In 2024, he told (archived) the comedian Steve-O about Bussie the Bus Dog, a basset hound who became his longtime tour companion. Snopes has previously reported on claims that Taylor Swift refused to perform at a charity concert alongside artists including Jelly Roll. AI Detector - Trusted AI Checker for ChatGPT, GPT4 & Gemini. Fact Check: Eminem didn't announce $10M investment to build stray dog rescue 'paradise'

Claim: Rapper Eminem announced a $10 million investment to build stray dog rescue facilities. Rating: A rumor that circulated online in late May 2025 claimed rapper Eminem announced a $10 million investment to build stray dog rescue facilities. For example, on May 21, a manager of the Eminem Logic Facebook page posted (archived), "SOCIAL MEDIA SHOCKER: Eminem unexpectedly announces a $10 million investment to build a 'paradise' for stray dog rescue – promising love and shelter for thousands of abandoned dogs!" The post, which received hundreds of thousands of engagements and potentially millions of views, purportedly displayed three photos of Eminem, two showing him with dogs. Many other users also shared the same rumor on Facebook, Instagram, Threads, TikTok, X and YouTube, including some posts calling Eminem's alleged venture a "sanctuary." (Image courtesy of Eminem Logic/Facebook) However, searches of Bing, DuckDuckGo, Google and Yahoo found no news media outlets reporting about this matter. Eminem was simply the latest famous person attached to a fabricated story about an investment into building stray dog rescue facilities. The people who created these posts included photos giving off the general look of pictures generated by artificial-intelligence (AI) tools. As such, the rumor Eminem announced an investment of millions of dollars into helping stray dogs was false. A May 18 post (archived) showcasing the rumor about Eminem investing in stray dog rescue facilities featured a link in the top comment. That link led users to an advertisement-filled article on the plain-appearing WordPress blog That article falsely claimed the rapper announced the investment news on his X profile. A check of his X feed found no such posts. The inclusion of the link to the ad-filled article highlighted the likelihood that the people who create such false rumors do so with the goal of earning advertising revenue, and that they cycle through various famous people with the hope of some of the posts receiving viral shares. Snopes contacted by email a representative for Eminem and will update this article if we learn more information. Earlier in May 2025, Snopes reported about the unfounded rumor of singer Jelly Roll investing $20 million, also for a "paradise" for rescuing stray dogs. Additionally, other social media users baselessly claimed in posts, during the month of May, that various NFL quarterbacks each allegedly invested millions of dollars into stray dog rescue facilities, including Pittsburgh Steelers' Mason Rudolph, Buffalo Bills' Josh Allen and Dallas Cowboys' Dak Prescott. MLB second baseman Jose Altuve of the Houston Astros also appeared in a post with the same rumor. For further reading, a previous fact check examined the truth behind a rumor about a canine sanctuary existing on Dog Island — an authentic island off the northern panhandle of Florida. Bing.
