With Day 8 of practices now complete, we're looking at key takeaways and observations from the NovaCare Complex.
Welcome to the eighth day of training camp for the 2025 Philadelphia Eagles. Philadelphia has had seven training camp practices and two walkthroughs since reporting on July 22. The Eagles have returned to the NovaCare Complex for a Sunday morning session that will see the team back in full pads. The Eagles will be on the field for approximately 90 minutes, followed by practice on Monday and Tuesday, a Wednesday walkthrough, and a Thursday preseason debut against the Bengals.

Jihaad Campbell can do it all
With Zack Baun out and nursing a back injury, Campbell has flashed the ability to make plays at all three levels.
Jihaad Campbell lined up at edge and dropped into coverage (Saquon in flat)as Hurts threw deep for Jahan Dotson incomplete. Jihaad, back at LB, broke up pass over middle for Ainias Smith. #Eagles
Can Saquon Barkley top his 2024 season?
The talk of the Eagles lessening Barkley's load has been exaggerated, and with the Birds not looking to fix something that isn't broken, expect the Offensive Player of the Year to start this season the same way he finished last.
Eagles CB competition
Through 8 practices, it's been Adoree' Jackson getting the most first-team snaps. Joint practices and preseason games could go a long way towards determining this battle.

On the morning that DeVonta Smith returned from a four-practice absence, A.J. Brown was out with a hamstring injury.

Eagles, Raiders Make Training Camp Player Swap

Eagles, Raiders Make Training Camp Player Swap originally appeared on The Spun. With the preseason fast approaching and final rosters beginning to take shape, the Philadelphia Eagles and Las Vegas Raiders reportedly made a trade on Tuesday. The Raiders recently got rid of defensive lineman Christian Wilkins after signing him to a four-year, $110 million contract due to how he treated his injury rehab and a strange "kissing" incident. Now the team has added some depth in that spot by sending cornerback Jakorian Bennett to the City of Brotherly Love in exchange for defensive tackle Thomas Booker IV, per Raiders reporter Ryan McFadden (via ESPN insider Adam Schefter). Booker is a former fifth-round pick of the Houston Texans who appeared in all 17 games for the Eagles during their Super Bowl run — recording 18 tackles and a sack in his on-field appearances which included one start. While Bennett was a fourth-round pick out of Maryland in 2023 who put together a solid campaign in his sophomore NFL season, even though it was cut to just 10 games after undergoing season-ending surgery on his shoulder. The Eagles parted ways with veteran Pro Bowler Darius Slay this offseason, so adding another DB to the mix could be a benefit to them. The trade is still pending physicals from both sides, according to McFadden's sourcing, but is likely to go through once everything gets sorted out. Bennett had reportedly been dropping on Vegas' depth chart since returning from the injury despite being 100% healed — with most of his reps coming with the Raiders' second and third teams since OTAs. Perhaps a change of scenery will be good for him as he fights for more time on the field with one of the NFL's most talented defenses. "I always feel like the underdog," Bennett told last week. "I always had to get out [of] the mud, you know. And man, that's nothing I shy away from. That's who I am. I like to persevere."Eagles, Raiders Make Training Camp Player Swap first appeared on The Spun on Aug 5, 2025 This story was originally reported by The Spun on Aug 5, 2025, where it first appeared.

Phillies' reliever Alvarado rejoins team following PED ban, will be eligible later this month

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Philadelphia Phillies reliever José Alvarado has rejoined the team following an 80-game suspension for violating baseball's performance-enhancing drugs policy. Alvarado was back in Philadelphia before Tuesday night's home game against Baltimore and is expected to begin a minor league rehab assignment soon. The Venezuelan left-hander is eligible to return to the big leagues on Aug. 19, but can't pitch in the postseason if the Phillies qualify due to Major League Baseball rules on PED bans. Philadelphia led the NL East by 1 1/2 games over the New York Mets heading into Tuesday's games. 'I am fully aware that using prohibited substances is wrong and I would never intend to do so because I have always had great respect for the game, my organization, my teammates and the fans, all of whom I want to offer my sincere apologies,' Alvarado posted on Instagram. "I made a mistake and therefore, I have faced the consequences set forth by MLB. Going forward, my focus is on working hard to help the team win.' Alvarado was suspended on May 18 following a positive test for an external testosterone. Phillies president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski said the positive test was caused by a weight loss drug Alvarado took during the offseason. The Phillies used several players in the closer role after Alvarado's suspension before acquiring Jhoan Duran in a trade with Minnesota for two top prospects last week. Alvarado had a 2.70 ERA, 25 strikeouts and seven saves in 20 appearances before the suspension. The 30-year-old will lose $4.5 million, half his $9 million salary this year as part of a $22 million, three-year contract he signed in 2023, as a result of the suspension. Alvarado is 19-26 with a 3.40 ERA in 399 relief appearances and one start over nine major league seasons with Tampa Bay (2017-20) and the Phillies (2021-25). He has 52 saves in 68 appearances and appeared in 21 postseason games over the last three seasons. ___ AP MLB:
