High alert in Bihar after 15 to 20 drones spotted entering from Nepal, hovering for 40 minutes

PATNA: A high alert was sounded by Bihar police in districts along the India-Nepal border on Tuesday, after 15 to 20 drones were sighted entering Indian airspace from Nepal on Monday night.
The drones hovered for about 40 minutes in areas under the Kamla Border Outpost (BoP) in Madhubani district before returning to Nepal.
Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) Deputy Commandant Vivek Ojha confirmed that '15–20 drone-like equipment were sighted moving in the sky in areas falling under Kamla border police outpost at around 7.30 pm on Monday. They returned to Nepal after moving from west-east direction. The equipment entered Indian airspace and returned towards northern Nepal.'
Ojha further added that SSB personnel deployed at the Janki Nagar BoP spotted the equipment as they returned to Nepal. 'The SSB officials immediately alerted their seniors, who, in turn, passed on the message to officials at Darbhanga Air Force and Delhi Air Force stations,' he said. Following this, the authorities declared a high alert along the international border.

Viral video of handcuffed Indian student at US airport sparks online outrage

Image credits: X/@SONOFINDIA Trump's immigration crackdown might seem like a policy decision for him, but for students and families who migrated to the land of dreams with hopes for a better future, living in America recently has been nothing short of a nightmare. Students from various countries are being arrested by ICE officials at random moments and being threatened with deportation to their homeland. The constant raids at homes and arrests on the streets have created an environment of panic and danger among the immigrants. Recently, an Indian-American entrepreneur took to X to share a video of an Indian student being handcuffed by police officials. Kunal Jain, a social entrepreneur who writes books in Hindi and recently relocated to India posted about the incident which happened at Newark airport. "I witnessed a young Indian student being deported from Newark Airport last night— handcuffed, crying, treated like a criminal. He came chasing dreams, not causing harm. As an NRI, I felt helpless and heartbroken. This is a human tragedy." wrote Jain while tagging the Indian embassy in the US. He also tagged the Minister of External Affairs, S. Jaishankar adding that the young boy was supposed to board the same flight as him but didn't. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like This Device Made My Power Bill Drop Overnight elecTrick - Save upto 80% on Power Bill Pre-Order Undo Asking to find out what happened to him at New Jersey authorities. Social media reactions Image credits: X/@SONOFINDIA His post has gone viral all over social media with people reposting it and news websites covering it. The incident marks one of the many atrocities being faced by Indian students who are fearful and unsure of their future in America. Many people commented on Jain's post, condemning him for posting the incident and not staying around to help the young student. "So easy to write stories. If you were that concerned why didn't you get him released?" wrote a person. Others questioned the reason why Indian students went to America for higher studies in the first place with the high cost and low safety the country ensures. "Now US is not your dream land. It has become hell for you." "Indian students must seriously rethink studying in the US. It's no longer the dreamland we were sold. The reality today is stark; rising violence, internal strife, racial discrimination, and institutions overrun with woke nonsense," wrote another. A person marked how the way the student was being dealt with in public was not justified, writing, "Irrespective of his status, situation, language which you might not understand or you might not convince with his answers, totally agree. But not a way to treat in front of everyone like this." Another shared how being deported might just be a good thing for the student with India's rising development. "Deported to India? Why should he be sad? I mean he is going back to a rising superpower!" While most social media users were offended on behalf of the students, others asked if he had legally migrated to the States. "Sorry but he has an illegal status. He should be deported. He can come back to his country. There is no shortage of dreams here."

Kunal Jain, an Indian-American social entrepreneur, posted on X that the Indian student detained at a US airport was treated like a criminal and called the incident a human tragedy. This is a human tragedy. @IndianEmbassyUS #immigrationraids — Kunal Jain (@SONOFINDIA) June 8, 2025 Jain said the Indian student was speaking in Haryanvi, recognisable by his accent. He was heard saying, 'I am not crazy; these people are trying to prove that I am', he added. Here more videos and @IndianEmbassyUS need to help here. This poor guy was speaking in Haryanvi language. I could recognise his accent where he was saying 'में पागल नहीं हूँ , ये लोग मुझे पागल साबित करने में लगे हुए हे' — Kunal Jain (@SONOFINDIA) June 8, 2025 Jain said there have been multiple similar cases of Indians being deported recently due to their inability to explain the purpose of their visit to immigration authorities. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD 'These children get their visas and get on a flight in the morning. For some reason, they are unable to explain the reason for their visit to the immigration authorities and are sent back in the evening flight tied up like criminals. Every day 3-4 such cases are happening. There have been more such cases in the last few days,' Jain added. Jain urged Indian embassy in US and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to take up the matter. This poor kids parent won't know what's happening to him. @IndianEmbassyUS @DrSJaishankar he was to be boarded last night in the same flight with me but he never got boarded. Someone needs to find out what's going on with him at New Jersey authorities. The video has triggered widespread outrage and concern over the treatment of Indian nationals abroad, prompting calls for official intervention from the Indian government. At the same time, some viewers have raised questions about the circumstances leading up to the incident. One user wrote, 'Handcuffed? May be wrong, but did he come the right way? If not, then what is wrong if he is being deported?' Another commented, 'You are not alone, most of the NRIs are not helpless, right word is useless when it comes to stand together. We are so selfish, in the next coming years we will feel the heat cos of our attitude.' A third said, 'What do u mean by he's not been able to explain to the US authorities. If he can't speak English, how did he clear his exams? What kind of courses was he going to take?' A fourth user added, 'He was questioned for 5-6 hours, also an Indian chap called in to converse, but he failed to give correct answers, yes, he shouldn't be treated in such a manner, rather escorting him and calling the embassy or consular but it seems they've a different set of rules.' STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD The incident comes amid a growing crackdown by the US government on international students, with visas increasingly being revoked without prior notice. Reasons have varied — from participation in pro-Palestine protests to minor traffic violations— often leaving students entangled in legal uncertainty and confusion. According to the Department of Homeland Security's Entry/Exit Overstay Report, visa overstays among F-category student visa holders rose to 3.5% in fiscal year 2023. While comprehensive, evidence-based data specifically focused on Indian student overstays remains limited, India continues to rank among the top 10 countries with the highest rates of student visa overstays. Adding to concerns, unofficial estimates suggest that more than 1,500 Indian nationals were deported from the US in fiscal year 2024, raising alarm over the treatment of undocumented Indian immigrants. EAM in Brussels, holds talks with Belgium DPM and FM Maxime Prevot

Brussels/New Delhi, June 9 (UNI) External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, who is visiting Brussels, today met the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Belgium Maxime Prevot, during which he welcomed Belgium's support and solidarity with India in combatting terrorism. In a post on X, the EAM also said that he appreciated the strong momentum of the bilateral engagement and the India-EU partnership. 'Pleased to meet DPM & FM @prevotmaxime at the start of my visit to Belgium. 'Welcomed Belgium's support and solidarity in combatting terrorism. 'Appreciated the strong momentum of our bilateral engagement and the India - EU partnership. 'Also held wide - ranging discussions on deepening our cooperation including in trade, investment, technology, defence & security, pharmaceuticals, clean energy and mobility.' Notably, EAM Jaishankar is visiting Belgium, the EU and France from June 8-14. Besides meeting the DPM and FM Maxime Prevot, EAM would also meet the senior leadership of Belgium and interact with the members of the Indian community. The visit of the EAM to Brussels comes three months after the visit to India of Princess Astrid of Belgium, who had come at the head of a 300-member economic mission to India, and had held talks with PM Modi and the EAM. Princess Astrid's team had comprised Foreign minister Maxime Prévot, Defence Minister Theo Francken, Flemish Minister-President Matthias Diependaele and Belgian ambassador Didier Vanderhasselt. The two sides had discussed a wide range of issues during the meeting in March with PM Modi, including labour migration, pharmaceuticals, defence, diamonds, space exploration and green energy. Interestingly, EAM's visit comes as fugitive Indian diamantaire Mehul Choksi, wanted in the PNB loan fraud case, is currently in a Belgian jail. He was arrested in mid-April on India's extradition request. India has an extradition treaty with Belgium. Choksi, 65, along with his nephew Nirav Modi—who is in London awaiting extradition—is accused of defrauding Punjab National Bank (PNB) of Rs 13,850 crore. India and Belgium share warm and friendly relations along with a very robust economic partnership. Today the collaboration between the two countries spans various domains like trade and investment, green energy, technology, pharmaceutical, diamond sector and strong people to people ties, a statement said. During the visit to Brussels, EAM will be holding a Strategic Dialogue with the EU High Representative and Vice President Kaja Kallas, and will engage with the senior leadership from the European Commission and the European Parliament, besides interacting with think tank and media. While in France, the EAM would travel to Paris and Marseille where he would be holding bilateral discussions with his counterpart Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, Jean Noel Barrot and also engage with the senior leadership of France, and interact with think tanks and media. EAM would also participate in the inaugural edition of the Mediterranean Raisina Dialogue which is being held in the city of Marseille. UNI RN
