Patrick Kane has voiced strong support for young phenom Connor Bedard (Getty Images) Three-time Stanley Cup champion Patrick Kane, a Chicago Blackhawks legend, recently weighed in on the growth and potential of 19-year-old phenom Connor Bedard — and his message was one of strong support. Speaking on the 'Breakaway with Pat Boyle' podcast, the former Blackhawks star, now with the Detroit Red Wings, acknowledged Bedard's early struggles but made it clear that the young center is on the right path. Patrick Kane praises Connor Bedard's maturity and mindset despite growing pains Patrick Kane, a Chicago Blackhawks legend, weighed in on rising star Connor Bedard's development, praising his skills, work ethic, and potential as the franchise's cornerstone for the future. "He's probably understanding a little bit more of what to expect on a nightly basis,' Kane said, noting how Bedard is adjusting to the physical and mental toll of an 82-game NHL season. Kane referenced his own rookie days, admitting it's normal for young stars to go 'five to seven games without producing' as they adapt to the pace and pressure of the league. Still, Kane emphasized that Bedard's flashes of brilliance are undeniable: 'He's got moments throughout the game where he has the puck, he makes plays that you're like, OK, not many guys can do that… Whether it's a move or a pass, the way he shoots the puck — I think he's got a really bright future." Patrick Kane highlights Bedard's character and hunger to improve What stood out most to Kane wasn't just Bedard's talent — it was his mentality. "He cares, and he wants to be great,' Kane said. 'That's half the battle.' The Mid Summer Check-In Across The NHL | 32 Thoughts That work ethic and mindset, Kane added, should ease any concerns Blackhawks fans may have about their franchise cornerstone. With 22 goals and 61 points in 68 games during his rookie season, followed by a full 82-game sophomore campaign with 23 goals, Bedard is already proving his durability and growth. Kane, once the face of the franchise himself, believes the Blackhawks are in good hands — and fans can rest easy knowing Bedard is committed to greatness. 'If I was a fan or part of the organization,' Kane concluded, 'he'd be the least of my worries.'
