‘This has always been Mumma's house': Step inside Urvashi Dholakia's home

Indian Express25-06-2025
When we think of iconic villains, none come to mind as often or forcefully as Urvashi Dholakia's Komolika in Kasauti Zindagii Kay. But walk into her home, and you'll see—Komolika might've been icy, but Urvashi is all heart.
The madness begins before the door even opens. Farah Khan is already cracking jokes about Dilip's hairline, fish pakoras are on the agenda, and the vibe is pure fun. Urvashi greets them with her no-nonsense, warm energy: 'No no, no chappals—just come in.' That sums her up—relaxed, grounded, totally real.
Her home isn't staged or styled for the camera. It's a proper family home—where dogs bark, her twin boys tease each other, and someone's always either cooking or laughing. 'This has always been Mumma's house,' Urvashi shares, as her eyes soften for a moment. It's clear—this place holds generations of memories.
Farah's first reaction? 'Yeh ghar kitna acha hai, yaar!' It really is. It's not flashy—but it's full of warmth. Two dogs, Chai and Coffee, bounce around. The boys argue over who's the smarter twin.
In the kitchen, things get even more chaotic. Farah's whipping up her famous fish pakoras, Dilip is being roasted for using cornflour as a face pack, and nobody can find the onions. 'Main face pe bhi lagata hoon, madam!' Dilip says. 'Toh cheezein kahan se gayab ho rahi hain samajh aaya!' Farah shoots back.
Urvashi laughs at herself, rolls up her sleeves, and lets the mess happen.
The highlight though? Her mum joining them—sharp, honest, and effortlessly funny. When asked how Urvashi still looks so young, she replies without blinking: 'Khush raho. Stress mat lo.' Simple advice that probably works better than anything in a bottle.
There's something very special about watching a woman who's played a legendary vamp, standing in her no-frills kitchen, surrounded by noise, food, and family. It's a reminder that behind the smoky eyes and dramatic music, there's someone who just wants to make sure everyone's fed and happy.

Not Amitabh Bachchan Or Shah Rukh Khan! Ex-India Cricketer Admires Just One Actor, Has Watched His One Movie '200 Times'

A former India fast bowler professes his love for movies and music while revealing his all-time favourite movie is Mughal-e-Azam. Karsan Ghavri will go down in Indian cricket history as one of its finest utility players. Known for his fast bowling, Ghavri was more than a handy batter. Part of India's two World Cup campaigns (1975 and 1979), the left-arm pacer played 39 Tests and 19 ODIs between 1974 and 1981. He scored over 1000 runs and claimed 124 wickets during his international career. Numbers from his India career may not be outstanding, but Ghavri, on several occasions, produced several performances – with the bat and the ball. One of his most memorable shows was during a Test series against West Indies at home when he claimed 27 wickets. Then at the Sydney Test of 1981, he scored 64 runs on a challenging pitch and helped India secure a win by an innings and two runs. His career-best score of 86 came when batting at No. 9 in a massive innings win over Australia at Wankhede. With his medium pace, Ghavri took four five-wicket hauls and five four-wicket hauls. Besides cricket, Ghavri loves watching movies and his all-time favourite actor is the late Dilip Kumar. 'Dilip Kumar is the only actor I really admire, and I am a big fan. There are several great actors – Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjeev Kumar, Balraj Sahni. But from No. 1 to 10, it has to be only Dilip Kumar," Ghavri said on The Vickey Lalwani Show. 'Among the female actors, it varies. Waheeda Rahman and Vyjayanthimala – they are all great artists," he adds. When pressed on any female actor he admires from the current lot, Ghavri said, 'Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif, Kiara Advani now. They are very good, talented artists." Ghavri reveals to have watched Dilip-starrer Mughal-e-Azam 200 times and even today, he drops everything he's doing whenever the movie is on TV. 'Only one (favourite movie). Mughal-e-Azam. I have watched it at least 200 times. Maybe 10-20 times in theatres. Even if it's on TV today, I don't watch cricket or talk to anyone. I close the room and watch Mughal-e-Azam," he said. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Please keep discussions respectful and constructive.
