Missed Brad Pitt's 'F1' in IMAX? You Have One More Chance
In a summer in which Superman and The Fantastic Four were battling the dinosaurs of Jurassic World at the box office, it's strange to think that a movie from Brad Pitt would be considered the underdog. But now, F1: The Movie, the racing film directed by Joseph Kosinski (Top Gun: Maverick), is about to perform an impressive victory lap. After becoming Pitt's highest-grossing movie of all time — with $552 million at the global box office — the movie is headed back to IMAX theaters, according to Variety. Here's how you can catch it. F1: The Movie Box Office Although there's been plenty of competition for IMAX screens this summer. At the beginning of July, Jurassic World Rebirth wasn't even released on IMAX screens because of overcrowding from F1 the previous week and Superman the following week. Despite certain predictions from fans and pundits, Jurassic World Rebirth not being on IMAX screens didn't hurt its box office at all. The movie is currently at $769 million worldwide and is the fourth most successful movie of the year, despite mixed reviews. Comparatively, F1 is at $552 million, an impressive feat considering its battle against big, preexisting franchises.F1: The Movie IMAX Rerelease Date F1: The Movie will return for more IMAX screenings starting August 8, 2025. 'With F1: The Movie, audiences around the world headed to theaters in droves to witness Formula 1 racing like never before, and it showed at the box office,' said Jeff Goldstein, President of Warner Bros., according to Variety. "So, together with our partners at Apple Original Films and IMAX, we jumped at the opportunity to give fans another go-round — or to experience it for the first time — via IMAX's premiere screens and sound, before summer is over.'Missed Brad Pitt's 'F1' in IMAX? How Brad Pitt's F1 Movie Boosted Real-Life F1 Earnings
One of the year's most talked-about movies and box office successes is Brad Pitt's F1, which has now proven to be a revenue bump for the Formula One Group, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Directed by Joseph Kasinski, F1 had a budget of $200-$300 million and has blown past it ever since opening weekend in late June, amassing over $550 million globally at the box office. While the movie is a critical success all around by fans and critics, it has another accomplishment to celebrate. The Formula One Group saw a one-time rise in revenue, with the movie having contributed to the group's 40 percent rise in revenue year-over-year to hit $1 billion. On a Formula One call on Thursday, President Stefano Domenicali not only praised the increase in revenue but also the cultural impact F1 has made, and the economic impact it has had on the sport. "I would say the effect of the movie is not only, of course, about the dollars and economical input, but the sport will have an incredible opportunity to grow its awareness and to generate the circular economy around that," said Domenicali. He adds that the buzz and social media surrounding the movie also pushed the fanbase to show more interest and led to an increase in live viewership by 7% in the U.S. compared to last year. Domenicali also expects future revenue opportunities as F1 is set to be released on Apple's streaming platform. F1 follows former Formula 1 driver Sonny Hayes (Pitt), who returns to the sport to mentor a young rising star while racing for a fictional team called APXGP. The movie is filmed during real F1 Grand Prix weekends, blending live race footage with cinematic storytelling. Alongside Pitt, F1 also stars Kerry Condon, Damson Idris, and Javier Bardem.
