Hit action show ‘The Terminal List' takes to the skies over Stoney Creek

It was an action-packed month in Hamilton.
The hit show 'The Terminal List,' starring Chris Pratt as a former Navy SEAL fighting dark forces, filmed here last week, involving scenes with shootouts and helicopter chases.
This followed a visit by that other hit show, 'Reacher,' which reportedly filmed fight scenes, a car chase, a shootout and a narrow escape from the bad guys for wandering troubleshooter Jack Reacher (Alan Ritchson). The production spent most of its time filming scenes for its fourth season in and around The Cotton Factory.
Hamilton residents were warned about the coming of 'The Terminal List.' Hamilton police issued a release on July 18 telling residents in the North End and on the Stoney Creek Mountain not to be alarmed by low-flying helicopters, mock explosions and men with guns as it was all part of a film shoot. Police did not identify the production, but it had to be more than a Christmas movie. And it was.
A helicopter sits in a field on Ridge Road in Stoney Creek waiting to be used in an action scene for the Amazon Prime hit 'The Terminal List.' Chris Pratt plays a former Navy SEAL who gets mixed up in espionage capers.
'The Terminal List,' based on the 2018 novel by Jack Carr, is shooting its second season in Ontario. It was No. 1 on Amazon Prime's Top 10 list within two weeks of its debut in July 2022. 'Reacher' is on the same streaming service.
In the first season, Pratt plays James Reece, a Navy SEAL who returns home after his unit is ambushed on a covert mission and finds his family being threatened. The new season is based on Carr's second novel 'True Believer.' A synopsis says Reece is pulled into an espionage plot by the CIA.
The production shot at Steelport/Stelco on Wilcox Street and on First Road East, between Ridge Road and Green Mountain Road, on the Stoney Creek Mountain.
Both involved helicopters. At Stelco, the scene reportedly involved a group of vehicles under attack by a pair of helicopters. A shootout was also filmed in a building.
First Road East was closed between Ridge Road and Green Mountain Road between July 20 and 25. The scene also reportedly involved a group of vehicles being menaced by helicopters. One helicopter was parked in a nearby field on Ridge Road.
Hamilton actors Patrick McKenna and Zooey Schneider (from Waterdown) at the Christmas dinner for the Shriners Club of Hamilton last December. The pair is in the family film 'Magnetosphere,' which is now playing on 15 streaming services.
A family film that involves two Hamilton actors, Patrick McKenna and Zooey Schneider from Waterdown, is now available on 15 streaming platforms after being on the film festival circuit for a year.
'Magnetosphere,' written and directed by Nicola Rose, also had its Canadian premiere in 2024 at the Hamilton Film Festival.
The film is about a 13-year-old girl who copes with synesthesia, a condition that makes her see sounds, colours and more. McKenna, best known as Harold on 'The Red Green Show,' plays her father and Schneider is her sister. The movie, which also stars Colin Mochrie, was filmed in Sault Ste. Marie.
Rose, 37, said the film is resonating with people who have synesthesia, plus other similar conditions. She said she had been fascinated with synesthesia and had wanted to make a film on it for years, partly because visual effects would take you inside the character's brain.
She said it was a joy to work with Mochrie and McKenna.
'They are two of the finest people,' she said in a phone interview from Boston. 'Yes, they are in Canada, but they should be everywhere.'
'Magnetosphere' is available on such platforms as Amazon Prime, Apple TV Plus, YouTube and On Demand.

Taylor Kitsch says he's not returning as Tim Riggins in 'Friday Night Lights' reboot

Taylor Kitsch says he's won't be part of the highly anticipated " Friday Night Lights" reboot -- he has his sights set on something else. At the red carpet premiere for "The Terminal List: Dark Wolf" on Monday night, Kitsch opened up to The Wrap about whether he would be involved in the upcoming reboot. "I was asked to do it," he said. "I'm not going back, no." Instead, he said he would be continuing his work with Howlers Ridge, a nonprofit retreat center in Bozeman, Montana, aimed at supporting veterans and those battling addiction. "It's for veterans and people on the sober side of addiction," said Kitsch, who mentioned that the program is in its third year. "Addiction runs through my family, it's affected my life on so many levels. And then, obviously, the veteran community, the SEAL community, and the veteran families have affected my life for the better." In "The Terminal List: Dark Wolf," Kitsch stars as Ben Edwards, a CIA operative. The series follows Ben "throughout his journey from the Navy SEALS to the clandestine side of CIA Special Operations," according to a press release, and stars Chris Pratt, Tom Hopper, Luke Hemsworth and more. The series is a prequel to the 2022 series "The Terminal List," which starred Kitsch, Pratt, Constance Wu, Riley Keough and more. "The Terminal List: Dark Wolf" is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on Aug. 27, 2025. Kitsch previously portrayed Tim Riggins on "Friday Night Lights" for five seasons. The show aired its first season in 2006 and centered around a high school football team in small-town Texas, led by Coach Eric Taylor, played by Kyle Chandler. Connie Britton, Aimee Teegarden, Zach Gilford, Brad Leland, Jesse Plemons, Derek Phillips and Minka Kelly also starred in the series. "Friday Night Lights" concluded in 2011 after five seasons. It won three Emmys, including outstanding lead actor in a drama series for Chandler. Kitsch opened up to ABC News in 2014 about how the show was close to his heart. "There's so many good memories, really," he said. "We were incredibly spoiled on that show. Riggins' last game was tough. That was a big day. Those are the good memories I have." In December 2024, "Good Morning America" confirmed that a new adaptation of "Friday Night Lights" was in development at Peacock. The adaptation will focus on a high school football team and their interim head coach who vie for a Texas High School State Championship title, serving as a point of hope for their hurricane-devastated town. Jason Katims, the original showrunner and executive producer, will return to the show with Peter Berg, the original show director.

Chris Pratt and Wife Katherine Schwarzenegger Have Surprisingly Different Parenting Styles

Chris Pratt and Wife Katherine Schwarzenegger Have Surprisingly Different Parenting Styles originally appeared on Parade. Chris Pratt revealed that he and his wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger, have surprisingly different parenting styles. While appearing on the Monday, August 4, episode of The Today Show, Pratt, 46, shared an update on his and Schwarzenegger's youngest child, Ford, who recently turned 8 months old. 'Ford, man, he's doing great. He's doing great,' Pratt said before sharing an update about Schwarzenegger, 35. 'Mama's doing well. He's the happiest baby. He's got these giant, beautiful blue eyes. He's so special. Everyone says that about their kids, most of them are wrong. I'm not wrong. This kid is very special.' After noting that Ford has "a beautiful mama," he said that he's "a very caring and strong-willed father." The Parks and Recreation alum continued, "And yeah, he's now one of four of my children, and I'm so blessed.' 'My style is very heavily influenced by how I was raised. I was a very sensitive kid, but my dad was very tough and very strict," he explained. "So I tend to be a little more mindful of the sensitivity in kids. So I'm not as tough and I'm not as strict.' However, he said that Schwarzenegger is "more of the rule enforcer." Despite having different parenting styles, he insisted that they 'have a nice balance." Pratt, who married Schwarzenegger in 2019, added that he only has one solid parenting rule. 'I think as long as you're present, you kinda can't go wrong,' he explained. 'You're gonna mess up. You're not gonna get it right, but you were there, and I think that ends up being important to adults when they grow up and they look back on their childhood, is, 'Hey, my dad was there, and that's a good thing.'" In addition to Ford, the couple shares daughters Lyla, 4, and Eloise, 3. Meanwhile, Pratt shares son Jack, 12, with his ex-wife Anna Faris.
