Nagpur: With 77,795 electric vehicles already on roads, Nagpur is racing to keep pace with the city's shift towards green mobility. To meet the growing demand, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has launched work on 11 new public EV charging stations under a public-private partnership with Reliance BP Infra Limited.
Acting on directives from NMC commissioner Abhijit Chaudhari, the stations will be installed at Jaitala Bazaar Square (Orange Street), Rahate Colony Square (near PKV premises), Dayanand Park, Police Motor Transport Section on Katol Road, parking near Patrakar Bhavan close to Yeshwant Stadium, Wadi Naka on Amravati Road, Futala Road near police chowki, Budhwari Bazaar near Sakkardara water tank, Shanti Nagar Main Road near water tank, behind Anjuman College in Mangalwari Complex, and Central Bazaar Road opposite Tuli Imperial Hotel parking.
According to NMC's electric department, no-objection certificates are pending for a few locations, but NMC additional commissioner Vaishnavi B told TOI the process is underway and all stations will be operational within 90 days. The facilities will cater to two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and four-wheelers, aiming to reduce range anxiety and encourage more citizens to make the switch to electric vehicles.
MSEDCL data shows the district currently has 151 charging stations—58 in urban areas and 93 within city limits. Of these, 43 were set up by fuel providers, while MSEDCL operates six. Officials say the expansion will "recharge" Nagpur's journey towards becoming a cleaner, more sustainable city.

GVMC to complete 24X7 water project by Dec 31

Visakhapatnam: The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) has targeted Dec 31 as the deadline for the completion of the ongoing 24x7 potable water supply project in north-west part of Visakhapatnam city, funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). Although the project is already operational in the Madhavadhara, Muralinagar, and Marripalem areas, providing around 5,000 potable water connections, some work remains pending and must be completed to ensure an uninterrupted water supply to the public. GVMC commissioner Ketan Garg, accompanied by water supply department engineers, inspected and reviewed the progress of the project in the Visakhapatnam north-west sector of Madhavadhara, under Zone-V. During this review, the commissioner directed the GVMC superintending engineer KVN Ravi to ensure that all pending work is immediately completed by the contractor. He clearly set the deadline for full completion as Dec 31. The commissioner said that bills should be prepared for existing customers based on their actual water consumption. He instructed the concerned officials to make the necessary technical arrangements to record these bills in the ERP module and recommended issuing sample (dummy) bills in advance to raise customer awareness. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like A 9-Minute Workout for a Flat Belly and Smaller Waist whophone Undo Furthermore, Garg asked superintending engineer Ravi to analyse the difference in water consumption between the new 24x7 supply system and the previous conventional supply method to better understand usage patterns. The review meeting included executive engineers Yedukondalu and Muralikrishna, deputy executive engineer Satish, assistant engineers Raj Kumar and Suman, deputy general manager of Nagarjuna Construction Company Rangarao, and other officials. GCAS undergrad admissions: Special intake round for 15k vacant seats at Gujarat University

Ahmedabad: Undergraduate admissions for the academic year 2025-26 in Gujarat have seen strong progress, with over 2.95 lakh students securing admission through the GCAS portal. As of Aug 6, 3,90,519 students had submitted applications in four phases, and 3,70,874 of them completed document verification. So far, 3,64,248 unique admission offers have been made, out of which 3,19,002 offers have been accepted, and 3,10,168 students have paid their fees and confirmed admission. Despite this large intake, more than 15,000 seats remain vacant across various colleges affiliated with Gujarat University , which has a total seat capacity of 66,000. So far, only 48,269 seats have been filled. To address this gap and provide another opportunity for students, especially those with lower merit scores, the govt has announced a Special Phase-3 admission round under GCAS. Students who missed previous rounds or did not register can now apply between Aug 7 and 10, while document verification will be conducted from Aug 7 to 11 at designated help centres. The college seat allotment will begin on Aug 13 and admissions will be processed in two rounds under this phase. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like The Simple Morning Habit for a Flatter Belly After 50! These students will get a final chance to confirm admission. Failing to do so will make them ineligible for any future offers. Moreover, confirmed admissions during this round cannot be canceled. Universities had earlier demanded that unfilled seats be handed over to colleges to expedite admissions. However, to maintain transparency and uniformity, the govt has opted for another centralized online round. With 2,95,182 admissions already confirmed across all govt universities in the state, the Special Round-3 marks a crucial step in filling remaining vacancies and ensuring that eligible students are not left behind as the academic session approaches.
