Delhi Assembly to hold fully paperless session from Aug 4
Addressing a press briefing at the Delhi Secretariat, the chief minister said that the transforming the assembly into a fully digital platform in such a short time was not just a technological feat but a significant step towards transparency and good governance. She emphasised that this was made possible through the financial support of Central govt and the coordinated efforts of the Delhi administration.
"From now on, all legislative work in the Delhi Assembly will be conducted through digital means, giving a new impetus to both the pace and quality of policymaking," Gupta said. tnn

Delhi govt forms committees to draft new excise and electric vehicle policies
New Delhi: Delhi govt has constituted two separate ministerial committees to formulate a "transparent and socially secure" excise policy and an "effective and public-centric" electric vehicle policy. These committees will submit their reports to chief minister Rekha Gupta. The committee formed to create the excise policy will be headed by PWD minister Parvesh Verma, while the one on the EV policy will be chaired by home minister Ashish Sood. All other ministers in Gupta's cabinet will be members of both committees. The decision to form the panels was made in the cabinet meeting held last Tuesday, but the information was shared by the govt only this Monday. "Our govt is dedicated to the people of Delhi and is continuously making decisions in the public interest," CM Rekha Gupta said. The old policy was re-implemented on Sept 1, 2022, with an important change of handing the retail liquor business completely to the govt corporations, with no role for private players. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Discover the AI-powered language app that's changing how everyone learns Talkpal AI The policy has been extended several times, the latest being on July 1 for nine months until the end of the 2025-26 financial year. Gupta earlier formed a committee under the chairmanship of chief secretary Dharmendra to deliberate upon various aspects of the liquor business in Delhi and even prepared a draft of the new policy. However, the govt decided to deliberate more on the issue and postponed the announcement of a new policy by nine months. Delhi govt also extended the current Electric Vehicle Policy until March 31, 2026, or until a new one is officially notified, whichever comes first, a few days ago. The extension was approved in a cabinet meeting chaired by the chief minister. Officials said the govt wanted more time to conduct public consultations before rolling out a revised, future-ready policy. The draft of the new policy is still under discussion and will involve inputs from citizens, industry players, environmental experts, academic institutions, and private stakeholders.

CM: Operation Sindoor was a befitting reply to Pakistan
New Delhi: Chief minister Rekha Gupta on Monday alleged that the opposition parties loved anti-national forces, but not Bharat, and praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for Operation Sindoor that avenged the Pahalgam terror attack . Speaking on the first day of the monsoon session of Delhi Assembly during a debate on operations Sindoor and Mahadev, Gupta said Operation Sindoor was a befitting reply to Pakistan after the Pahalgam attack in which some women had lost their loved ones, asserting that PM Modi played a huge role in protecting the dignity of "our sisters". Hitting out at the opposition INDIA bloc, CM claimed, "These people do not love Bharat, but they love anti-national forces because they see their own reflection in them." She alleged, "The name is INDIA, but if you listen to them, it feels like they are spokespersons for Pakistan… They do not trust their own Army, their own Prime Minister, but they trust foreign countries." You took credit for India's Independence, but not for Partition. Why didn't you take responsibility for the 1962 Indo-China war?" After BJP chief whip Abhay Verma gave notice for a congratulatory motion for operations Sindoor and Mahadev, both BJP and opposition AAP raised slogans of 'Bharat Mata ki jai', hailing Indian Army. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo Leader of the opposition Atishi pointed out that the whole country said in one voice after the Pahalgam attack that "we need to give a befitting reply to Pakistan. We thank our armed forces for destroying terror sites in Pakistan...". She continued, "But suddenly, I saw a post on X by US president Donald Trump claiming that he stopped the war. I want to ask the BJP-led central govt whether the cost of business with America is more than the sindoor of our sisters. " The former CM questioned why the operation was stopped at a crucial juncture. Before being marshalled out, AAP MLA Sanjeev Jha criticised the central govt for accepting the cease-fire decision made by US president Trump. "Operation Sindoor was an opportunity... to take back Pakistan-occupied Kashmir." Home minister Ashish Sood said the two operations represented the new normal in response to terror attacks. "After terrorist attacks, dossiers are not sent any longer; instead, the Army is given a clear order to eliminate the enemy." Those questioning the two operations should be tried on sedition charges, he said. Minister Kapil Mishra said AAP leaders shed tears whenever a terrorist was killed. "The talk of taking back Pakistan-occupied Kashmir started only after PM Modi took charge." BJP MLA Shikha Rai demanded that Operation Sindoor be made part of the school curriculum. BJP's Arvinder Singh Lovely said India had become such a country that didn't bow down to terrorism any more.
