Angarki Chaturthi: here's a list of traffic curbs in Pune tomorrow to manage festival rush
Angarki Chaturthi is an auspicious day during the month of Shravan as per the Hindu Calendar. It is considered significant for devotees of Lord Ganesha.
To prevent congestion, Chhatrapati Shivaji Road will remain closed to vehicular traffic from 7 am onwards in anticipation of the festival rush, the traffic police said. The crowds are also likely to trigger traffic jams on Laxmi Road and other streets in the mid-city area.
According to a statement issued by Himmat Jadhav, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Traffic, no vehicle heading towards Swargate will be allowed to use Chhatrapati Shivaji Road on Tuesday. The police have appealed to citizens to use alternative routes.
Vehicles travelling towards Swargate via Chhatrapati Shivaji Road will be diverted at S G Barve Chowk. From here, the vehicles can reach Swargate via JM Road, Khandoji Baba Chowk, and Tilak Road.
Besides, vehicles will not be allowed to travel from Appa Balwant Chowk to Budhwar Chowk and will, instead, be diverted to Bajirao Road, the police said.
The statement added that vehicles going from Puram Chowk on Tilak Road to Shivajinagar should use an alternative route towards FC Road via Alka Talkies Junction.
The temporary traffic restrictions will be in place till the rush in connection with Angarki Chaturthi reduces, the police said.
During the auspicious day of Angarki Chaturthi, several devotees observe a fast and worship Lord Ganesha to overcome obstacles and seek blessings for prosperity and happiness.
