Ryan Lochte's wife breaks cover after divorce news as Olympian shares emotional post on daughter's birthday

Daily Mail7 hours ago

Ryan Lochte 's estranged wife Kayla Reid was spotted on Monday as the now-former couple prepared to celebrate their daughter's birthday.
Earlier this month, Kayla announced the 'painful' divorce from the Olympic swimmer, referencing 'trials we didn't choose or see coming' without mentioning other details.
Lochte, for his part, said he was 'deeply grateful for the life we've built together' and committed to co-parenting their three children together.
And ahead of their daughter Liv's sixth birthday, Kayla was spotted in public getting ready for the special day as she pushed a No. 6 balloon in a shopping cart.
Kayla, who had also appeared to pick up a cake for Liv, chatted on the phone as she was photographed.
A day later, Lochte took to Instagram to celebrate Liv as she celebrated her sixth birthday.
I may not have all the answers, but I'm the dad who will love you more than words can express,' he wrote on Tuesday.
'I'll be your rock, your confidant, and your biggest fan. Through every up and down, I'll be here for you, loving and supporting you with all my heart.
'You'll always be my little girl, and I promise to cherish, support, and love you, no matter what, forever and always. Happy Birthday 6th birthday princess. Love always and forever your Dad #birthdaygirl #wrappedaroundherfinger.'
Shortly after the news of the couple's divorce became public, Kayla took her children to Las Vegas for a fun weekend.
The trip celebrated the eighth birthday of Kayla and Ryan's son Caiden, while Liv and their 23-month-old daughter Georgia were also brought on the trip by their mother.
Kayla's petition for divorce, filed in north central Florida's Alachua County, asked the court for 'sole parenting responsibility' or at least 'ultimate decision-making authority' and 'majority timesharing,' Daily Mail previously reported.
'Wife is fit and proper to assume sole parental responsibility for the minor children of the parties. Shared parental responsibility would be detrimental to the children,' her lawyers wrote.

However, Lochte responded by insisting it was in the best interests of Caiden, Liv and Georgia for their parents to share custody.
Kayla also mentioned in her filing that their union was 'irretrievably broken.'
The gold medalist swimmer and former Playboy Playmate tied the knot in Palm Springs, California, in January 2018, after previously going public with their relationship in 2016.
However, Lochte has faced his share of personal issues since. In 2018, he was suspended 14 months from swimming for a prohibited IV infusion, and also spent six weeks in rehab for alcoholism.
Following an incident at a hotel in California, in which police were called on Lochte after he tried to kick his door in (no arrests were made), his attorney said he had been battling alcohol addiction for 'many years.'
Lochte later said his stint in rehab had made him a 'better man.'
'I'm glad that I went to rehab and got checked out just because it helped me out,' thw swimmer said.
'It helped put things in perspective in my life. What is really more important than going out to a bar and getting hammered or doing anything like that, I go home and I get to play with my kids and kiss and hold my wife. That, to me, is everything.'
As he was returning to the sport in 2019, he said that it was his 'second priority' behind his family.
He was also thrust into controversy during the 2016 Rio Games, after he claimed that he and three teammates were robbed at gunpoint after a night out.
It was later revealed that the armed men were actually security guards and several details of Lochte's story proved to be fabricated. He was ultimately charged with submitting a false report to police, but charges were later dismissed after he apologized.
Following Kayla's announcement that she had filed for divorce, he also broke his silence on social media.
'Although this decision hasn't been easy, I believe it's the right step toward peace and well-being for us both,' he said.
'I remain committed to healing, growth, and co-parenting with care and respect as we move forward separately.'
Kayla had said: 'I made the hard decision to end my marriage after deep prayer and reflection,' she wrote on Instagram.
'I hold marriage in the highest regard, so this has been one of the most painful, revealing, and challenging seasons of my life.
'I've been hesitant to share until I could do so from a place of healing – not from fresh, open wounds.'

Legendary rocker Rod Stewart reveals why he won't go to Trump's Mar-a-Lago Christmas parties anymore

Legendary rocker Rod Stewart has revealed why he won't go to Donald Trump 's Christmas parties anymore. The iconic singer said he no longer attends the lavish parties at Mar-a-Lago, citing a firm stance taken by his wife, Penny Lancaster. The model reportedly put a stop to her husband's friendship with Trump, claiming he 'doesn't treat women very well', according to her rocker husband. 'I used to go to his Christmas party and the balls he held, but my wife said no,' Stewart, 80, said. 'There was stuff he was coming out with, what he was saying about women he had known in the past, and Penny said, "You're not going. He's a disgrace."' While Stewart and Trump, 79, were once friendly, the singer even performing at Trump's casinos, his view of the former president has changed significantly. In a 2018 interview, Stewart addressed his personal history with Trump, admitting to knowing the billionaire president 'for a long time.' 'Let me just clear up the situation. I've known Trump for a long time. I've done concerts for him in his casinos. I live probably three-quarters of a mile down the road from him on the beach in Florida,' the Maggie May singer said. 'He's always been extremely nice to me. He's let my friends use his golf course for nothing, and I've had no problems with him at all. 'Is he a great president? Nah. I think his moral compass is way off. But on the other hand, the country's doing extremely well - although I believe part of that was down to President Obama. The country was starting to do great anyway; he's just carrying it on. 'But we'll see with the mid-term elections. It does seem like the walls are closing in on my dear friend,' he added. Stewart also said in an interview with Radio Times magazine that his former friend has changed since being elected into office. 'I'm not a great fan of Trump. I knew him very, very well. I used to go to his house,' the I Don't Want to Talk About It singer told the Daily Star. 'I live literally half a mile away. We're both on the beach. I used to go to his Christmas parties. He's always been a bit of a man's man. I liked him for that,' he said, adding, 'but he didn't, as far as I'm concerned, treat women very well. Since he became President, he became another guy. Somebody I didn't know.' The 80-year-old rockstar said he no longer counts Trump as a friend anymore citing his policies regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. 'No, I can't any more. As long as he's selling arms to the Israelis – and he still is. How's that war ever gonna stop?'

Kylie Jenner's daughter Stormi has hilarious reaction to her iconic 'King' era

Before becoming a mom in 2018, Kylie Jenner reigned over Instagram as 'King Kylie' — an iconic style era that coincided with the success of her lip kit line. During her 'King Kylie' era, which lasted from 2014 to 2017, the 27-year-old makeup mogul rocked colorful wigs and wild, curve-clinging outfits. And on Monday, Jenner — who now opts for a more natural look — decided to show her daughter Stormi, seven, how she looked in that era for the very first time. In a clip posted to TikTok, Kylie captured Stormi's reaction as she pulled up a photo of herself wearing a vibrant blue wig, a red T-shirt dress and thigh-high boots in 2016. Stormi — who is one of two kids Kylie shares with ex-boyfriend Travis Scott — was totally shocked to see her mom rocking such a bold ensemble. 'Why are you so shocked?' Kylie asked Stormi. The wide-eyed little girl replied: 'Did you dye your hair in that photo?' On Tuesday, Kylie Jenner decided to show her daughter Stormi, seven, how she looked during her iconic 'King Kylie' era for the very first time In a clip posted to TikTok, Kylie captured Stormi's reaction as she pulled up a photo of herself wearing a vibrant blue wig, a red T-shirt dress and thigh-high boots in 2016 (pictured) Kylie explained to Stormi that it was only a wig and that she 'used to love wearing wigs.' 'A blue wig with a red outfit?!' exclaimed Stormi as she stood beside Kylie with her hands on her hips. Kylie acknowledged it was not her best fashion moment and Stormi enthusiastically agreed. 'It's not a good combo,' the seven-year-old said. 'I know,' Kylie replied. Kylie, who was makeup-free in the video, quickly turned the camera on herself and then back to Stormi as the child jokingly told her audience: 'That's what [Kylie] gets!' The clip ended with Kylie revealing to her 57.8million followers that her and Stormi were snacking on cherries in the kitchen of her Hidden Hills mansion. The Kylie cosmetics founder captioned the TikTok post: 'stormi just discovered the king kylie era ……' Stormi is Kylie's eldest child with rapper Travis Scott, 34. The exes, who split in late 2021 after a five year on/off romance, also share son Aire, three. During her 'King Kylie' era, which lasted from 2014 to 2017, the 27-year-old makeup mogul rocked colorful wigs and wild, curve-clinging outfits; Kylie left in 2015 and right in 2025 While Kylie has adopted a more natural glam look since dating actor Timothee Chalamet, the star has paid homage to her iconic 'King Kylie' era in recent years. Last January, Kylie, a natural brunette, posted selfies in a pink wig with the caption: 'hiiiii remember me' The transformation stunned fans, who asked if she was bringing her 2010s style back. 'KING KYLIE is back?!!!!!!!!!!' one account asked. 'The return of king Kylie!?!' one fan remarked while another posted, 'THE KING IS BACKKKK.' More recently, Kylie brought back her infamous blue wig in September 2024 as she posed for glamour shots in her backyard. The wig was so realistic that her big sister Khloe Kardashian dropped into the comments to speculate about whether or not she actually dyed her hair. 'I'm not falling for this anymore,' the 40-year-old Good American founder teased. While Kylie was rocked a variety of bold, eye-catching hair colors over the years, her blue hair is most closely associated with her 'King Kylie' era. She famously sported the controversial color at her older sister Kim Kardashian's wedding to Kanye West back in 2014, a fashion choice Kim ultimately surrendered to. 'Kylie's hair is still blue and she promised me she would put extensions in to cover it,' Kim remarked on the KUWTK episode for her nuptials. 'It's just not worth the battle and I'm just going to let it go and she has blue hair at my wedding.'
