STAUNTON - Staunton Fire & Rescue deployed to E. Beverley Street on July 7, but the downtown excitement didn't amount to much.
Two engines and at least seven emergency responders were on scene at 11:30 a.m. for a possible structure fire that turned out to be burnt food.
"We got a lot of excitement for nothing," Deputy Chief Perry Weller said on scene.
The fire led to a brief closure of E. Beverley Street, which lifted around noon.
