After almost 20 years, this Italian restaurant in Miami Beach has closed for good
Another restaurant has fallen victim to Miami's cruel summer.
Sardinia Italian restaurant at 1801 Purdy Ave. in Miami Beach served its last plate of pasta and poured its last glass of wine on Father's Day.
The restaurant, which was famous for its robust wine list and wood-burning oven, announced its closing on social media. There was no reason given for the closing, just heartfelt thanks to loyal customers.
'It's the end of an era,' the post said. 'As we draw the curtain on an incredible 20 year journey, we want to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude. Your support has been the foundation of our success, and every meal shared, every story exchanged and every smile has made our restaurant a home.'
'We are deeply thankful for the memories we've created together and the friendships we've forged. It has been an honor to serve you, and we will cherish these moments forever.'
Sardinia was owned by Chef Pietro Vardue, who grew up in Sardinia, and restaurateur Antonio Gallo. The partners opened the restaurant in 2006 in the Sunset Harbor neighborhood, serving pasta, pizza, grilled meats and seafood.
This isn't the only closing affecting the Miami Beach area recently. The steakhouse Red South Beach closed in May after 17 years in Miami Beach, while the French spot Le Zoo closed in April in Bal Harbour.
Other notable closings around town include the Michelin-recommended Portuguese restaurant Sereia, which closed at the end of May, and the Michelin-starred EntreNos closes at the the end of June.

Meghan Markle talks sharing life 'on my own terms' after viral delivery room video
Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, is getting candid about sharing her life on social media. The mom of two and former actress recently sat down for an interview with the "Aspire with Emma Grede" podcast, set for release Tuesday, and spoke about a video she shared that recently went viral. In a promotional clip shared on YouTube ahead of Tuesday's podcast episode, Meghan opens up about the video, which shows her dancing with her husband Prince Harry in the delivery room before the birth of their daughter, Princess Lilibet. "That wasn't yesterday," Meghan says in the promotional clip. "That was four years ago. So it's also a really great reminder that with all the noise or whatever people do, there's a whole life -- a real, authentic, fun life that's happening behind the scenes." "I'm just grateful that now, being back on social as well, I have a place where I can share it on my own terms," she added. Earlier this month, Meghan shared several memories of Lilibet on her birthday, including the video of herself and Harry dancing to the viral song "The Baby Momma Dance" in the delivery room at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, California, ahead of Lilibet's birth. The video is among many personal moments Meghan has shared on her official Instagram account, @meghan, since launching the page in January. Romeo Beckham's Ex Addresses Brooklyn Beckham Romance Rumors
Originally appeared on E! Online Kim Turnbull is setting the record straight. The British DJ, who split from David Beckham and Victoria Beckham's son Romeo Beckham earlier this month, addressed the rumors that she'd previously been romantically involved with the 22-year-old's older brother, Brooklyn Beckham. "I've avoided speaking on this topic to prevent adding fuel to the fire, however it's come to a point where I feel the need to address it so I can move on," Kim wrote on her Instagram Stories June 16. "I will not continue to receive harassment or be embarrassed on the basis of lies, to fit a certain narrative." "I have never been romantically involved in ANY capacity at ANY point with the person in question," the 24-year-old added, seemingly alluding to Brooklyn, 26. "Nothing between us has occurred further than a school friendship at age 16." Kim added, "I would like to remove myself from the ongoing conversation & set the record straight for the sake of everyone involved." The model's statement comes less than two weeks after E! News learned that she'd split from Romeo after seven months of dating amid ongoing speculation that there's a feud within the Beckham family. Kim isn't the only person connected to the situation who has taken matters into their own hands to combat false narratives playing out in public. More from E! News learned that she'd split from Romeo after seven months of dating amid ongoing speculation that there's a feud within the Beckham family. Kim isn't the only person connected to the situation who has taken matters into their own hands to combat false narratives playing out in public. Amid the reports of their estrangement from the rest of the Beckhams, Brooklyn and his wife Nicola Peltz Beckham hired a law firm to fight the rumors circulating about the pair. 'It's not for reputation management, but to set the record straight, combat spread of misinformation,' a source with knowledge of the situation told E! News June 2. 'Ironically, the inaccurate reporting proves exactly why one hires legal counsel, to set the record straight and combat the spread of deliberate misinformation.' And, while Kim was at Romeo's side for some of his family member's milestone moments this year like Victoria's latest runway show and David's 50th birthday celebration, Brooklyn and Nicola's last known appearance at a Beckham family gathering was at Christmas. Even though the couple hasn't been seen with the rest of his family in months, those close to the family deny that he's gone completely no-contact with Victoria and David, both of whom posted photos of Brooklyn while celebrating Father's Day June 15. "This seems to be another deliberate attempt to misrepresent the truth,' an insider told E! News earlier this month, days before David was presented with a knighthood by during the monarch's June 14 birthday celebration. 'It only serves to distract from this honor being bestowed on Brooklyn's father.' Keep reading for more on the Beckham family drama...
