Ghislaine Maxwell questioned directly about Prince Andrew's friendship with paedo Epstein

Daily Mirror25-07-2025
Ghislaine Maxwell was today quizzed about Prince Andrew's friendship with Jeffrey Epstein by US government lawyers.
Insiders told the Mirror how the convicted teen sex trafficker was questioned about the royal as she was asked about her knowledge of '100 different people' related to the late child Wall Street financier. A source said: 'No one was off limits. The interview was meticulous as it was long. Ghislaine was quizzed about everyone she knew in Epstein's circle, including the Duke. Nothing was left on the table.'
Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year sentence in a Florida prison after being sentenced in 2022. She is not due for release until July 2037. After being questioned by Donald Trump 's Deputy Attorney General, Todd Blanche, for two days, Maxwell's lawyer confirmed she had not held back from answering questions about anyone.
'We started this morning (Fri) right around 9 o'clock, and went to now lunchtime, and we're finished after all day, yesterday and today,' her attorney David Oscar Markus said. 'Ghislaine answered every single question asked of her over the last day and a half, she answered those questions honestly, truthfully, to the best of her ability. She never invoked a privilege. She never refused to answer a question.' He added: 'They asked about every single, every possible thing you could imagine. Everything.'
The meeting with Maxwell came just weeks after the Department of Justice announced it would not release any Epstein files - a move that has sparked outrage among survivors. It has also, more critically for Trump, sparked a civil war among his MAGA supporters, seeing thousands turn on after he campaigned for the White House on a promise to release all information on the sex offender.
The president, now scrambling to contain the political fallout, is said to be privately furious at the backlash from his own base.
Markus said Maxwell was being used as the 'scapegoat' in the entire Epstein case and has been 'treated unfairly for the last five years.'
Her attorney said that they had not put in a formal request with the White House for a pardon for Maxwell, 63, following the conclusion of her questioning. But Markus didn't rule one out completely, saying, 'Things are happening so quickly. The president said earlier he has the power to do so, we hope he exercises that power in the right way,' he added.
Last night, a source told the Mirror that in addition to being quizzed about Andrew, she was also questioned about Bill Clinton.
Both the Duke of York and the former president are documented as flying on Epstein's private 'Lolita Express' jet and pictured with him at various times. Andrew famously refused to speak to the FBI.
In 2020, when he was the US Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Geoffrey Berman made the extremely rare decision to publicly blast the Duke. He accused the Prince of "seeking to falsely portray himself" as eager to help his Epstein inquiry before he accused Andrew of providing "zero cooperation."
Berman claimed that despite public statements to the contrary, the royal had "repeatedly declined" requests to schedule an interview.
Andrew's legal team denied his claims, insisting that the Duke offered to assist authorities on at least three occasions. He was later accused of having sex on three separate occasions with Epstein's 'teen sex slave' Virginia Giuffre, which the Duke emphatically denied.
In 2019, she accused the royal of sexually abusing her on three occasions when she was 17 - claims he vehemently denied. Facing a civil lawsuit in New York, Andrew opted to settle out of court in early 2022, reportedly paying Giuffre £12 million.
He issued no apology and continued to protest his innocence, insisting he had no memory of ever meeting her despite the now-infamous photo of them together with Maxwell grinning in the background. It was unclear whether Blanche intends to question her further. Markus said he did not know whether the discussions would have any impact on her case.
With Maxwell's questioning finished, Markus added: "We don't know how it's going to play out. We just know that this was the first opportunity she's ever been given to answer questions about what happened and so the truth will come out about what happened with Mr Epstein, and she's the person who's answering those questions.'

Donald Trump's niece says US president 'declining rapidly' as she lists dementia signs

Donald Trump's niece, Mary Trump, has taken to YouTube to discuss the US President's "obvious emotional and psychological decline". Donald Trump's niece has claimed the US President is showing obvious signs of "mental decline" as growing evidence hints he's "losing it every day". Mary Trump, who is the daughter of Donald's older brother Fred Trump Jr, took to YouTube to discuss her uncle's clear "emotional and psychological decline" in a video titled "Trump DECLINES RAPIDLY as Behavior RAISES CONCERNS." ‌ She listed the key signs she believes point to the 79-year-old's supposed cognitive decline, including a strange impromptu press conference he carried out on the White House roof on Tuesday, as well as his announcement of his bizarre plan to build a nuclear reactor on the moon. ‌ Mary's video comes after the White House confirmed Trump was suffering from a chronic venous insufficiency after growing concerns were raised about bruising on his hands. Chronic venous insufficiency is a vein condition that leaves the Republican politician with swollen ankles and constant bruising. ‌ However, his niece alleges he is also suffering with major cognitive decline, the Mirror reports. Mary said: "We've all become used to the fact that every time Donald stumbles, rambles, forgets people's names, wanders off the stage, or just pulls made-up facts out of thin air, in other words, lies, people on the right pass it off as if these are just fun little quirks of their dear leader and not the fact that every single day Donald Trump appears to be losing it." ‌ It comes after a US military veteran also said Trump's mental state is 'clear to see' with lawmakers being urged to 'act now'. Here are some of the examples Mary gave to add to her case. Trump's bizarre appearance on White House roof Mary first mentioned Trump's unannounced appearance on the White House roof to take questions from reporters, who were left gobsmacked as the 79-year-old marched up and down the top of the building. ‌ When asked "Sir, why are you up on the roof?" He shouted back "taking a little walk". Another asked: "What are you building?" Trump replied: "It goes with the ballroom, which is on the other side". ‌ Another reporter shouted: "What are you trying to build?" Trump responded: "Missiles. Nuclear missiles", while making the gesture of a rocket launching. Speaking of the incident, Mary said: "There he was on the roof of the White House in the middle of a Tuesday afternoon doing what exactly. Nobody knows. I don't believe he knows." She joked: "Maybe he was looking for his health care plan up there. ‌ "I don't think we really needed much more evidence that Donald is in cognitive decline and clearly emotional and psychological decline, but we have more now." ‌ Plans to build nuclear reactor on the moon Mary then suggested Trump's nod to nuclear missiles while on the White House roof may have triggered the announcement by Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy for plans to build a nuclear reactor on the moon. She said: "Honestly the only thing I can say at this point is what the actual f***. "Because we can't pretend that any of this is okay, that any of it is acceptable anymore. This is dangerous. "We have the president of the United States on a roof for no reason that anybody's aware of talking about nuclear reactors on the moon." ‌ She said Trump may be displaying symptoms of a specific type of dementia. She added: "He is deteriorating cognitively. He is deteriorating psychologically. Could it be something like frontotemporal demention? Could it simply be cognitive decline due to his advanced age and very poor physical health? "Again, not mutually exclusive and I'm not saying it's one thing or another because I don't have access to him, but I'm a human being who observes things and nobody who's telling the truth would say that any of this is normal or acceptable." ‌ 'Embarrassing' CNBC interview Mary then addressed Trump's 'embarrassing' appearance on CNBC on Tuesday. She said: "Donald is adept at embarrassing himself, but he seems particularly adept at doing so on live TV. There was one moment that actually stood out more than the rest." ‌ She explained: "This is where Donald dropped his filter entirely and said the quiet part out loud, which is happening with increasing frequency, about his push for redistricting in Texas and potentially other red states." In a clip played by Mary, Trump is heard saying: "I won Texas. I got the highest vote in the history of Texas, as you probably know, and we are entitled to five more seats." Reacting to this, Mary said: "For weeks, Republicans, Donald included, have insisted that this redistricting was about competitiveness, not politics. But now Donald made it very clear on live television that he believes he is entitled to five more seats in Texas simply because he won the state in 2024. I think it should go without saying that that's not how any of this works." ‌ She continued: "Despite being the president of the United States of America, Donald continues not to understand, even into his second term, how the government works." Trump butchers Kristi Noem's name Mary concluded by slamming a press conference about the 2028 Olympics held by her uncle on Tuesday. ‌ She noted: "Surrounded by his staff with whom he speaks daily, he couldn't even manage to get their names right." During the press conference, Trump mistakenly introduced Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem as Cristie Kerr, a pro golfer. Mary said: "Now, Donald obviously has golf on his brain constantly, but it is getting harder for him to keep things straight. I'm telling you, I am often wondering if he is even oriented to place and time because it so often seems as if he is not. "That is not something we should put up with." Mary added: "Right now, the person allegedly in charge seems most of the time not even to know where he is."

Trump border chief piles on Democrat for 'disgusting' foreign allegiance as she remains silent

Donald Trump 's Border Czar Tom Homan piled onto the slew of attacks being launched at controversial Democrat Delia Ramirez. Illinois Rep. Ramirez stated during a press conference in Mexico over the weekend that she was 'a proud Guatemalan before I'm an American.' That comment sparked ire from several Republicans in the MAGA wing of the party, as President Donald Trump pushes his 'American First' vision worldwide. Homan became the latest high-profile Republican to condemn Ramirez's remarks. 'I think what she said was commitment should be to her state and the people that put her in that position' Homan said at the White House. Tennessee Republican Representative Andy Ogles wrote on X 'Denaturalize, deport, and kick her off [the] Homeland Committee. We know where her allegiances lie.' The Department of Homeland Security's official X account responded to the video of Ramirez's statement by posting a Theodore Roosevelt quote about American allegiance and condemning divided loyalties. Homan also took some time during his Wednesday presser to decry the false narratives that have been reported about 'Alligator Alcatraz,' the Florida facility where illegal migrants are being housed while they await deportation. Reports have surfaced about inhumane treatment at the facility, and unjust conditions. Homan said that such reporting was false. 'I get asked these questions all the time about the terrible, terrible 'Alligator Alcatraz.' I went down there, and what I found out is there's a lot of fake stories out there about medical attention, about, you know, religious freedom and having clergy there. I went down there, I looked at the books. So it's just simply a false story,' Homan told reporters. Homan also dismissed concerns about the environmental impact of the facility. 'So all you know, they take waste out of there every day,' Homan noted, further adding that not 'one foot of concrete' was put down that 'wasn't already there.' Finally, Trump's border czar called out one group of individuals who he believes keep getting in the way of the administration moving forward with their agenda: 'I'm sick and tired of the radical judges trying to shut down everything we're doing,' Homan said. 'It's ridiculous. I thought the Supreme Court was pretty clear last month about these radical judges trying to, you know, stop the Trump administration from implementing our agenda that American people voted for,' Homan told reporters Wednesday. Overall, the unveiling of 'Alligator Alcatraz' has gotten mixed reviews. Republicans, led by the Trump administration, are big fans of the facility being used to house illegal migrants in Florida as they await deportation. A migrant held in the Alligator Alcatraz detention center described dozens of inmates being corralled inside cages at the disorienting, mosquito-infested facility in an interview last month with NBC6. Democrat Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz called 'Alligator Alcatraz' an 'internment camp' during a visit to the facility last month, noting that the conditions were 'appalling.' Wasserman Schultz also said that the whole facility was a 'stunt' and that human beings were 'abused.' Congressman Max Frost, another Florida Representative, said that toilets being clogged in the facilities have caused 'feces' to 'spread everywhere.' Trump toured the newly constructed migrant detention facility deep in the Florida Everglades - nicknamed 'Alligator Alcatraz' - in July. He then praised its remote, high-security design, promising it would soon house what he called 'the most menacing migrants, the most vicious people on the planet.' Juan Palma, 48, who has spent more than two weeks at the center in the Florida Everglades, told NBC6 that the lights stay on around the clock, leaving him clueless as to the time of day. The Cuban migrant said that he and 32 other people live in what he described as a cage and that they are only allowed to shower every three or four days.

VP Vance meeting to discuss Epstein fallout canceled, source says

WASHINGTON, Aug 6 (Reuters) - A dinner for senior administration officials at Vice President JD Vance's residence to discuss topics including the Trump administration's handling of the Jeffrey Epstein case has been canceled after news of it leaked, a source familiar with the matter said. A spokesman for Vance said the dinner, first reported by CNN, had not been planned. Sign up here. "There was never a supposed meeting scheduled at the Vice President's residence to discuss Epstein strategy," said Vance spokesman William Martin. The Trump administration has struggled for weeks to mitigate the political fallout from the Epstein investigation, amid public pressure for more transparency over its handling of files related to the convicted sex offender's case. President Donald Trump had promised to make public files related to the disgraced financier's case if reelected. In July, however, the Justice Department said a previously touted Epstein client list did not exist, angering Trump's supporters, who have called for additional details to be released.
