A 20-year-old man was injured after his car plunged into a 300-foot-deep gorge while a group of youngsters attempted stunts for a social media reel. The incident was reported on Wednesday at around 4 pm at Table Point, Sadawaghapur area in Patan tehsil in Satara district. The victim has been identified as Sahil Jadhav, a resident of Goleshwar, Karad in Satara district. According to Patan police, the group of three individuals had driven to the plateau to film social media content. The video captures the harrowing moment the car, driven on a steep, grass-covered slope, loses control and slips into the deep ditch. Two other friends were shooting video of the victim, and the video went viral on social media.
Rescue operations were swiftly launched upon receiving news of the incident. With the support of local residents, emergency teams descended into the gorge and successfully retrieved the injured driver. Due to dense vegetative cover, his car was stuck in a gorge. Bystanders reported the incident to the local police, and they rescued the victim. Police told victims sustained multiple fractures and was admitted to the private hospital in Karad.
Vikas Shinde, SPI, Patan police station said, 'Jadhav sustained injuries in the fall and was rushed to a hospital in Karad, where he is currently undergoing treatment. Fortunately, a major tragedy was averted as the other individuals in the group had exited the car moments earlier for a photoshoot.'
On Thursday, a case was filed against the victim at Patan police station under BNS sections 125(A), 125(B), 281, 324 and sections 184 of the Motor Vehicle Act.

The youth sustained serious internal injuries during the attack and was taken to the rural hospital, where he was declared dead. The incident triggered tensions in Jamner on Monday night, with many people taking to the streets to demand the immediate arrest of the accused. A substantial police force was deployed in Jamner to prevent the situation from escalating further. Inspector General (Special) of Nashik Range, Dattatray Karale, also visited Jamner to ensure there was no untoward incident. "The situation is peaceful now," Karale told reporters in Jamner. Relatives of the deceased youth told reporters that he had been abducted from the café, which is close to a police station. They said if the youth was at fault, he should have been taken to the police station. On the relatives' request, an in-camera postmortem was conducted. The Jamner police registered an FIR under sections 103 (murder), 140 (kidnapping), 189 (unlawful assembly), 191 (rioting), and 118 (voluntarily causing hurt), among other sections of the BNS.

Pune: A software engineer (32) with a private company in the Bund Garden area suffered head injuries after his motorcycle collided with a car driven by a drunk man in Baner in the early hours of Monday. The accident occurred when the victim, a resident of Pimple Nilakh, was returning home after meeting a friend in Baner. "His high-end motorcycle collided head-on with the car in Mohannagar when he was driving along the two-way service road of the Katraj-Dehu Road bypass," sub-inspector Sarang Thakare of the Bavdhan police said. He said, "The victim was not wearing a helmet. He suffered an internal head injury because of the impact of the fall on the road and lost consciousness. His condition is now stable." The report confirmed that the driver was under the influence of alcohol," he said. Thakare said the case was registered under sections 281 (rash driving) and 125 (A-B) [act endangering life or personal safety of others] of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and Section 185 (drunk driving) and other relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act. "The car driver claimed that the motorcyclist collided with his car. He was later served a notice and let off with the direction that he should cooperate with the investigation as and when called," Thakare said. Coimbatore: A 37-year-old woman was arrested on Monday for assaulting and robbing a 96-year-old woman in Saravanampatti on Friday. The arrested has been identified as M Deepa, from Tiruvannamalai. She resides on the same street where Saraswathi, 96, lives with her family. On August 8, when Saraswathi's family returned home from work, they found her lying unconscious on the floor with wounds on her face, and rushed her to a private hospital for medical attention. The family also realised that 8.5 sovereigns of gold ornaments had been stolen from the house. Saraswathi's grandson K Venkatesh, lodged a complaint with Saravanampatti police. During investigation it came to light that Deepa was involved in the crime, and the stolen jewellery was recovered from her. Police registered a case against Deepa under Section 309(6) of the BNS and arrested her. She was produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody.
