The Latest Ford Bronco's Airbags Could Hit Too Hard
The 2025 Ford Bronco has just been recalled, and unfortunately, it's for a physical fault that could reduce safety. According to recall documents filed with the NHTSA, 'the active vent flap on the passenger side may prevent the airbag from deploying as intended.' This recall covers 2,272 Broncos, and while it's not good news, owners can at least take comfort in the knowledge that this isn't nearly as serious as the Takata airbag fault that continues to plague numerous unrecalled vehicles from manufacturers around the world, and this air bag is made by a completely different company.

The Airbag May Not Cushion Impacts Properly
Source: Ford
The NHTSA says that if the active vent flap of the passenger airbag doesn't open during a crash, 'the internal cushion pressure will not decrease as rapidly as designed, resulting in a higher-pressure cushion interacting with an occupant.' In other words, the component meant to safely prevent an occupant's head from hitting the dashboard could well injure them instead. The problem was discovered during routine testing by Michigan-based airbag supplier Joyson Safety Systems, which flagged the issue with Ford. Problems with testing led the supplier to a plastic flange holding the micro gas generator responsible for inflating the airbag in place. This flange may break when the airbag is activated, and this may interfere with the active vent flap.
Over A Quarter Of Broncos Are Affected
Source: Ford
Of the 2,272 Broncos impacted by this recall, only 28% are expected to have the fault. Ford will begin sending interim notification letters on June 28. A second will be sent when the remedy is ready to be installed, but Ford has not provided an estimated timeline for when this will happen. Once the new parts are available, dealers will replace the airbag module at no cost to owners. As we've noted before, Ford has been working hard to overcome quality control issues, and there's still plenty to improve on, but at least this time, it doesn't appear to be something that Ford missed under its own roof. Happily, no warranty claims or customer complaints have been lodged, so the issue hasn't caused any serious damage yet.

Urgent warning issued to Citroen owners
Citroen has expanded its critical 'stop-drive' airbag recall to include C4, DS4, and DS5 models due to a potentially dangerous fault. This expansion follows an initial recall earlier this year for C3 and DS3 models, prompted by a fatal incident in France involving a 2014 Citroen C3. The expanded recall affects an additional 9,968 vehicles in the UK, specifically C4 models from 2010-2011, DS4s from 2010-2011, and DS5s from 2010-2013. Citroen has already fitted new replacement airbags to over 66,000 vehicles, with the majority expected to be completed by the end of September. Owners are advised not to drive affected vehicles and can check if their car is impacted by entering their VIN on the Citroen website.

Retiree's faith in humanity restored as wallet returned after 11 years
A retired Michigan autoworker, Richard Guilford, was astonished to receive a Facebook message about his wallet, which had been missing for over a decade. The wallet, containing cash, identification, and gift cards, was discovered by a mechanic in Minnesota, lodged in the engine bay of a 2015 Ford Edge. Guilford had lost the wallet in 2014 while working at a Ford factory in Michigan. The mechanic, Chad Volk, found the wallet in June while repairing the car, which had travelled 151,000 miles.

Infiniti QX65 Monograph Previews A New Mid-Size Luxury Crossover Coming Soon
By signing up I agree to the Terms of Use and acknowledge that I have read the Privacy Policy . You may unsubscribe from email communication at anytime. The FX Has Been Reborn (Again) From 2002 until 2013, Infiniti sold the FX crossover in place of the QX4 as its mid-size luxury SUV, and until 2017, effectively the same recipe continued under the QX70 name. Now, Infiniti is ready to bring back a coupe crossover for this segment, revealing the QX65 Monograph at Monterey Car Week. The Monograph suffix indicates that this is a concept, but also that it will almost certainly go into production, and based on these images, it'll look good from every angle. Good enough to lure Genesis GV80 and Lexus RX buyers out of their current rides? We've been waiting since a QX65 was first teased ahead of the Tokyo Auto Show in 2023, and with a design finally decided on, we'll get to sample the real thing soon enough. Artistry In Motion Design Language On paper, describing the design conveys a somewhat generic approach. At the front, there's an LED light bar connecting daytime running light clusters, with the actual headlights housed in separate units between the DRLs and lower side intakes. There's a massive front grille with an illuminated brand logo, black wheel arch moldings, and a coupe-like roofline, and at the back, a spoiler integrated with the tailgate, a large brand-identifying wordmark, and a full-width taillight setup that spans the width of the vehicle, with a large diffuser blending into the aforementioned arches and dark rocker panels. Source: Infiniti Most players employ all of these elements in the luxury mid-size SUV space, but we must admit that the lighting graphics, 22-inch turbine-like wheels, bronze accent lines around the glasshouse and grille, and the relationship between various shapes each give the car a little bit of individuality, especially in combination with the new color-shifting, reddish-purple satin Twilight paint (based on the Akane paint from the QX80 Monograph). Still Lots To Learn Sadly, Infiniti has not shared any imagery of the cabin, nor has it revealed what sort of powertrain we might expect beneath a production version of the QX65 Monograph. The lack of large openings in the front end, as well as the exclusion of any tailpipes, might indicate an all-electric powertrain, but traditionally, an Infiniti model that ends with a 5 is usually just a coupe-like take on the same nameplate with a zero on the end of its badge. In this case, the QX60 informs our speculation, and this is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 268 horsepower and 286 lb-ft of torque, with a nine-speed automatic transmission powering either the front axle or all four wheels. Spy shots of QX65 prototypes have shown a rev counter in the digital display, so although not obvious from this concept, it looks like the production crossover will have gas power. A hybrid seems logical, potentially based on a Nissan platform, but we'll have to be a little more patient. With this concept as close to a production design as can be, Infiniti will likely make information available by the end of the year, with a full launch sometime in 2026, if not sooner; the Infiniti QX80 Monograph was unveiled in August 2023 and was followed by the reveal of a production model in March 2024.
