Microlise has reported significant growth in its Australia and New Zealand operations, with rising demand for its connected fleet solutions and new customer acquisitions across the region.
The company, which began its ANZ operations in 2016 with Coles as its first client, has since established partnerships with almost every major supermarket chain in Australia and New Zealand. Its retail clients now include Woolworths, Metcash, Foodstuffs North Island, Foodstuffs South Island, and Gilmours, while logistics customers feature DHL, and food and beverage companies such as Morco and Aryzta.
Regional momentum
According to the company's financial results for the fiscal year 2024, the ANZ business segment displayed the fastest growth for Microlise globally since entering the Asia Pacific region. Operations have expanded to cover Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, and Auckland, with the regional headquarters located in Melbourne.
Luke Olsen, Managing Director at Microlise ANZ, highlighted the importance of relationships and performance for the company's results. "The growth we're seeing across ANZ is a testament to the strength of our partnerships and the value our technology brings to retailers and transport operators. As we scale, our focus remains on delivering measurable impact from efficiency gains to real-time visibility for our customers across the supply chain."
Microlise's technology offerings are centred on helping clients in logistics and retail improve operational efficiency, cut emissions, manage costs, and enhance delivery safety. The recent financial year included a marked uplift in hardware deployments and a 27% increase in professional services revenue, supported by greater vehicle availability.
Financial performance
The group's global financial figures for FY24 reflect the overall growth trajectory, with adjusted group revenue at AUD $153.9 million, annual recurring revenue of AUD $107.54 million, and adjusted EBITDA reaching AUD $21.47 million. Worldwide, Microlise also added 375 new customers during the year.
Vehicle supply chain challenges in Australia during the first half of 2024 affected rollouts for new customers. As supply constraints eased in the latter half of the year, deployment of Microlise products across customer fleets increased, supporting additional market growth.
Safety and recognition
Microlise's focus on fleet safety was acknowledged with the company being named a winner in the 'Fleet Safety Product' category at the 2024 Australasian Fleet Champions Awards. The business was also listed as a finalist in the Automation, Robotics and Emerging Technology category of the ASCL awards.
The company's presence continues to grow in the retail sector, with nearly every supermarket chain in Australia and New Zealand now utilising its solutions to manage logistics and transport operations.
Ongoing investment
Following ongoing customer growth and increased adoption of its solutions, Microlise has committed to further investment in local sales and services in the ANZ region. This includes plans to build on its current staffing across Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, and Auckland to support fleet operators and retail supply chains.
With operations in the United Kingdom, France, Australia, and India, Microlise handles over 626,000 subscriptions annually, serving more than 400 enterprise clients globally across various industries.
The company's connected technology platforms are positioned to support compliance, safety, and operational efficiency for logistics and retail customers as the supply chain environment across Australia and New Zealand continues to evolve.

There is nothing new here. All the money was already planned for in the Budget. That means no new jobs or economic growth are being delivered that weren't already in the Budget. A Budget after which unemployment rose by 24,000 by June 2025. This isn't a stimulus to the economy because there is no extra investment beyond that already being planned – meaning no extra GDP. It's a Clayton's announcement. Critics urge a genuine, long-term infrastructure strategy, emphasising collaboration and addressing urgent economic and social needs. Photo / Sylvie Whinray Given the fact that 16,000 fewer people are working in construction than this time last year, you would think this would be the ideal time to boost investment. ANZ reported this week that, 'it appears residential builders are giving up on a recovery any time soon'. You would think that now would be an excellent opportunity to build new state housing. Alas, no such announcements were made. As the famous quote goes, ministers are finding that 'winning is easy, governing is hard'. The initial decisions made to cut investment in areas such as ferries, housing and Dunedin Hospital have sapped confidence in the economy. The impact of tax cuts promised at the last election has long since gone. The likelihood of further interest rate cuts is diminishing as inflation creeps towards 3% and above. It's time for a different approach. Our economy, our productivity and our public realm don't benefit when the Government changes long-term infrastructure planning like this. It doesn't help when ministers use infrastructure announcements as a means of political advertising. Chris Bishop claimed he wanted a 'cross-party consensus' on infrastructure, but critics question whether he's truly engaging with a broad range of voices beyond his own. Photo / Sylvie Whinray That's made even harder when the announcements don't mean anything. We need a long-term approach to tackling this problem – one that will work across Parliaments. An approach that doesn't put one form in infrastructure – roads – ahead of everything else. In December last year, Bishop said he genuinely wanted to build a 'cross-party consensus' on how we build infrastructure in New Zealand. That's great in theory, but when your idea of a consensus is everyone agreeing with you, that's not going anywhere. Building a true consensus would involve working with much wider groups. When was the last time Bishop sat down with trade unions to discuss infrastructure? When did he last sit down with child poverty advocates to talk about our housing that puts kids in hospital? New Zealand's economy is struggling. The US President has just slapped 15% tariffs on our exports – and it's our second-biggest export market. We are losing a generation of people who are voting with their feet because they can't see a future here in Aotearoa. Nurses are on strike. Yet our Government is concerned with changing the name on the front of a passport. It's dangerously out of touch with the real needs of New Zealanders. Infrastructure development and renewal can play a key role in restarting the economy. You simply can't re-wrap last year's Christmas presents and present them as new this year. When we invest in New Zealand, we invest in ourselves and we reap the dividends. The Government is pretending to invest right now, dressing up old investments as new. There is a ghost plan for the economy. It's time for a real one.

Zeekr, the fast-growing global EV brand under the Geely umbrella (Volvo, Polestar, Lotus), has launched its latest all-electric SUV, the Zeekr 7X in Australia. Following its official reveal in Sydney, the high-tech, premium five-seater is also expected to reach New Zealand before the end of 2025. The Zeekr 7X blends cutting-edge EV technology with luxury design and family-focused practicality. Offered in three variants—Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD), Long-Range RWD, and a flagship Performance All-Wheel Drive (AWD)—the SUV delivers strong performance and impressive range. The dual-motor AWD variant sprints from 0-100km/h in just 3.8 seconds, while the Long-Range RWD boasts up to 615km of range (WLTP). Australian pricing starts at AUD $57,900 for the base RWD model, with the Long-Range RWD at $63,900 and the Performance AWD topping out at $72,900. New Zealand pricing is yet to be finalised, but sources suggest a starting point around NZD $65,000, though a more premium positioning is being considered. While Giltrap Group is widely tipped to handle local distribution, that too remains unconfirmed. Built on Geely's SEA (Sustainable Experience Architecture) platform and designed in Gothenburg, Sweden, the 7X measures 4,787mm long with a spacious 2,900mm wheelbase. Inside, it offers full-size SUV room, a minimalist digital cockpit powered by Qualcomm's 8295 Snapdragon chip, and luxury features like heated and cooled massage seats, soft-close electric doors, and a 36.2-inch augmented reality head-up display. Zeekr claims the vehicle is future-proofed with an 800V electrical system allowing ultra-fast charging. Using 360kW DC fast chargers, the RWD model can charge from 10–80% in just 13 minutes. Both Long-Range and Performance models, which use a 100kWh battery, take around 16 minutes. With global sales surpassing 520,000 units, Zeekr is expanding rapidly. The 7X will join the Zeekr X and Zeekr 009 in Australasia, as the brand continues its push into premium electric mobility markets.

Photo: RNZ More official cash rate cuts could be on the cards after unemployment was reported at the highest level since 2020 on Wednesday. Stats NZ numbers showed the unemployment rate rising to 5.2 percent in the three months ended June, from 5.1 percent in the previous quarter. That was a little less than was expected but economists said it still showed that there was significant "excess capacity" in the economy which should keep inflation in check. ANZ economists said there was even the possibility that businesses could shed "hoarded labour" over the rest of this year. They said there was evidence that some had been holding on to staff in anticipation of an economic recovery and that had kept unemployment about 0.5 percent lower than it would otherwise have been. If the recovery didn't happen as expected, some of those jobs could be cut. ANZ said the Reserve Bank was likely to put more weight on factors that indicated inflation was less likely to get too strong for its target band. "Today's data certainly don't present any roadblocks to an OCR cut in August." ASB economists agreed the data should encourage more interest rate cuts. "We expect a 25bp [basis points] OCR cut in August…Persistent labour market softness could see the OCR end the year below 3 percent as the RBNZ presses harder on the policy accelerator to try to revive the economy." Photo: RNZ BNZ chief economist Mike Jones said he still expected another 25bp cut this month and probably another one after that. "The lift in the unemployment rate to 5.2 percent was a little less than the 5.3 percent the consensus had expected. But the key reason we didn't see a larger increase was the fall in the labour force participation rate to 70.5 percent. And more people deciding to exit the labour force is hardly a positive signal. "The labour market is weak and, balancing all the overs and unders in today's numbers, we think it's a bit weaker than the Reserve Bank's most recent set of forecasts. This, coupled with the clear wobbles we're seeing in broader economic indicators, points to a recovery that needs a little more help from interest rates." Jarrod Kerr Photo: Supplied / Gino Demeer Kiwibank chief economist Jarrod Kerr said the data supported his long-held view that monetary policy needed to be stimulatory, not just neutral. "The unemployment rate looks a little better than expected, but only because people, especially younger people, are leaving the workforce, unable to find work. "The underutilisation rate is up, as hours worked are down. The fall in employment over the quarter points to a potential contraction in activity (GDP) over the quarter. That's not good enough for an economy that should be bouncing out of the recession. The soft underbelly of the report shows the economy is struggling to recover. The RBNZ will be forced to do more than they think." Cotality chief property economist Kelvin Davidson said mortgage rates were probably at or near the bottom across many of the fixed-rate terms. But Kerr said there could be room to move a bit. "I think they could fall a little further, as we are getting more rate cuts offshore." Jones agreed. "I think we're probably entering the home stretch as far as the downtrend goes. But the fact the market is now more readily pricing in the downside to the OCR, along with the moves lower we're seeing in offshore interest rates, to me suggests we could still see some further modest falls from here. I still think those declines will be more concentrated in the shorter terms though."
