The Kansas City Chiefs are still one of the top Super Bowl contenders in the NFL heading into the 2025 season. Until they're actually defeated, the Chiefs will be one of the main teams to watch.
Back for at least one more run are Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce. After rumors about his potential retirement, Kelce decided that he could not walk away from the game after losing in the Super Bowl to the Philadelphia Eagles.
While he may be back for another run, the reality of the situation is that Kelce does not have much longer left in the NFL.

That is exactly what one analyst has suggested. One player in particular has been brought up as a potential target for the Chiefs to be a replacement for Kelce in the future and a high-impact piece for the offense and Mahomes now.
Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox has suggested Kansas City as a possible trade destination for Chicago Bears tight end Cole Kmet. After the Bears used their first-round pick on Michigan tight end Colston Loveland, Kmet could be made available.
"The Kansas City Chiefs should also consider taking a flier on Kmet if he's available. Travis Kelce is still holding down the starting job, but he'll turn 36 in October. The Chiefs could view Kmet as a potential successor to Kelce and a great complementary option behind Kelce, along with Noah Gray," Knox wrote.
He also noted that there is an intriguing connection between the Chiefs and Kmet that would make a move for the 26-year-old tight end even more intriguing.
"It's worth noting Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy coached Kmet for two seasons in Chicago."

Kmet played good football during the 2024 NFL season. He appeared in 17 games for Chicago, racking up 47 receptions for 474 yards and four touchdowns. He had a career-best season in 2023 with 73 catches for 719 yards and six scores.
Being able to play alongside a quarterback like Mahomes would help take Kmet's production to another level. He may not be as productive as Kelce was during his prime, but he's a more than capable starting NFL tight end.
Depending on the price tag, Kansas City should absolutely have interest in Kmet. While this is just an idea, it's one that would make perfect sense for the Chiefs and offer the young tight end a perfect fit.

Aaron Rodgers' ouster a sign of things to come for Jets
The post Aaron Rodgers' ouster a sign of things to come for Jets appeared first on ClutchPoints. New New York Jets coach Aaron Glenn made a statement when the team chose to release veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers this offseason. Under this Jets regime, the roster was going to get younger. Glenn is hoping to pull off what every Jets coach since Rex Ryan in 2010 has failed to do – build a culture. And, it seems he believes younger players will allow him to mold this team in his own image. Advertisement Just last season, when Robert Saleh was still at the helm, the Jets entered the year as one of the league's oldest teams. This year, they're among the NFL's youngest squads, per Pro Football Rumors on X. Jets reunite ex-Ohio State teammates Justin Fields (26) and Garrett Wilson (24) in youth movement Adam Cairns/Columbus Dispatch / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images The team decided to take a half measure at quarterback, signing Justin Fields to a two-year, $40 million contract. After passing on passers in the 2025 NFL draft, the Jets appear confident in Fields as the starter for this season. The 26-year-old Fields is entering his fifth year in the league. His predecessor is 41 and about to embark on his 21st NFL season, assuming he signs with the Pittsburgh Steelers or elsewhere at some point. With the change, the Jets got 15 years younger just at quarterback. Advertisement And it's not only Rodgers. New York rostered 12 players 30 or older at the start of last season, per Pro Football Rumors. In 2025, the team only has five players in that age range. And one of them is Allen Lazard. So, that total could come down even further before the season opener. The Jets moved on from Davante Adams (32), C.J. Mosley (32), Morgan Moses (33) and others to drastically drop their median age. With these changes, New York went from having the eighth-oldest team last year to the NFL's fourth-youngest roster in 2025, via Pro Football Rumors. Will this work? Well, probably not. Because it's the Jets. But nothing else has worked either. The team has failed to reach the playoffs for 14 straight seasons, the longest drought in North American professional sports. They haven't had a winning season since 2015. So, at this point, it's worth a shot. New York also added two potentially pivotal players early in the 2025 draft, adding to the youth movement. Jets first-round pick Armand Membou signed his rookie contract and is expected to start at right tackle Week 1. In the second round, the team landed tight end Mason Taylor, who could contribute immediately as well. The Jets are going to be younger this season. Whether they'll be less dysfunctional is largely up to owner Woody Johnson.

Steelers, Jets would make Week 1 history if Aaron Rodgers signs
The post Steelers, Jets would make Week 1 history if Aaron Rodgers signs appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Jets have a chance to make NFL history in Week 1 of the 2025 season. That all depends, of course, on if Aaron Rodgers inks a deal with Pittsburgh. Justin Fields and Rodgers could be the first Week 1 NFL starters in history to start against the team they started for in Week 1 of the 2024 season, per NBC Sports. Advertisement Fields started Week 1 for the Steelers last season, due to an injury to Russell Wilson. Fields would go on to start six games for Pittsburgh, who made the postseason. Rodgers started all of the Jets games last year. New York finished 5-12 in 2024, and parted ways with Rodgers after the campaign. The Jets now have Fields as their starting quarterback. Fields signed a free-agent deal with the team this offseason. The Steelers, meanwhile, currently have Mason Rudolph as the likely starter on their roster. Pittsburgh also has rookie Will Howard and Skylar Thompson. Fields played just one season in Pittsburgh, while Rodgers was with the Jets for two years. Aaron Rodgers still hasn't signed a deal with the Steelers Barry Reeger-Imagn Images Steelers fans have anxiously waited for months while Rodgers flirted with the team. Pittsburgh engaged in negotiations with Rodgers for months. Now, OTAs have begun and Rodgers is still not on the roster. Advertisement It seemed for awhile that Pittsburgh might have sealed the deal with Rodgers. Pittsburgh famously passed on Shedeur Sanders in the 2025 NFL Draft, and waited until the draft's final day to nab Howard. A lot of analysts, including Mel Kiper, believed that move was a sign Rodgers was coming. Rodgers has dropped hints in recent days that he is going to the Steelers. He openly said he wouldn't sign with another team that needs a quarterback, the New Orleans Saints. If Rodgers does decide to play in 2025, his options are dwindling. Pittsburgh is seen as needing a quarterback desperately. The Steelers lost not only Fields, but also Russell Wilson to free agency. Wilson decided to sign with New York's other team, the Giants. Pittsburgh reportedly was in talks to re-sign Wilson, but they didn't pan out. The Steelers have big expectations this coming year. Pittsburgh has made the playoffs pretty consistently in the last 18 years under Coach Mike Tomlin. Many Steelers fans though are tired of Tomlin, as the team hasn't made the Super Bowl in more than a decade. Steelers fans should know soon if Rodgers is coming to the Steel City.

Jets rumors: Aaron Rodgers put NY run game on blast in 25-minute rant
The post Jets rumors: Aaron Rodgers put NY run game on blast in 25-minute rant appeared first on ClutchPoints. Former New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers reportedly criticized the team's run game in a lengthy 25-minute rant, according to former NFL offensive lineman Mark Schlereth. Advertisement Speaking on The Stinkin Truth Podcast, Schlereth, a close friend of Rodgers, shared details of their recent conversation, highlighting the quarterback's frustrations with the offensive structure during his time in New York. 'Aaron and I had a conversation about when he was with the Jets was how abysmal their running game was and how schematically it made no sense,' Schlereth said. 'I started the conversation, and then Aaron went on for about a 25-minute diatribe on just their run game.' Aaron Rodgers enters Steelers chapter as Jets face questions after failed 2024 season Philip G. Pavely-Imagn Images Rodgers' comments come just weeks after he signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers following his release by the Jets in early March. The four-time MVP had spent two seasons with New York, though his tenure was marked by injury and underperformance. Advertisement The Jets finished the 2024 season with a 5-12 record and missed the playoffs for a 14th consecutive year. Their rushing offense was among the league's worst, ranking 31st in rushing yards per game at 91.8. Across 363 attempts, the team totaled 1,561 rushing yards, averaging 4.3 yards per carry. They recorded eight rushing touchdowns and lost seven fumbles. Rodgers, 41, tore his Achilles just four snaps into the 2023 season opener. He returned to start in 2024 but failed to lead a turnaround, with the offense struggling to find rhythm. Now with the Steelers, Rodgers is scheduled to face his former team in Week 1 of the 2025 NFL season. The game will take place at MetLife Stadium on September 9 at 1:00 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on CBS. The matchup adds further intrigue as Rodgers begins a new chapter in Pittsburgh while the Jets search for answers under center.
