Newsreader Jo Kent introduced the segment from the studio, before throwing to Alexis - who was next to the River Thames wearing a long black puffer.
Her item appeared to start as planned, as she explained: "Residents here have learnt to live with flooding over the years and some say the 2007 floods were the worst they've ever experienced."
But before long, the weather presenter appeared to go completely blank on her lines.
"Now, with a warming climate, rainfall is expected to become heavier and more persistent in the future," she said, "which is why people here have taken matters into their own homes, hou-, own, own, hands."

Getting progressively flustered, she proceeded to abort the sentence entirely, adding: "Basically, to protect their homes and their businesses."
The presenter could then be seen mocking her own mistake by comically curling her lip and pointing at her head.
A few seconds later, the camera cut to a prerecorded take, showing Alexis walking along the river at Osney Island, west Oxford.
The broadcaster surprisingly chose to keep the blunder, which unfolded on South Today, in the iPlayer recording.

, began as normal, stating: "Highs and low with the weather coming up, in fact for some today we've actually had two seasons in one day.
"It was quite a chilly start in Scotland a little earlier on, in fact temperatures were as low as minus three."
Turning to the screen she said: "Hopefully we'll be able to show you at some point this evening."
However, the screen still displayed the moving BBC News ident graphic.
Turning back to the camera, she manfully ploughed on with her broadcast, adding: "But it was a cold start in Scotland.
"And then the sunshine got going and we actually saw those temperatures climbing up to highs of 23 degrees."
But things got even worse when an incorrect graphic suddenly flashed up on screen.
And when the right one finally did appear, Louise's face was gone.
She exclaimed: "There we go! Oops, now I've disappeared. But I'll explain to you."

'I say, 'We need to make an apology video.' Tearful Wynne Evans slams BBC in first TV interview since Strictly scandal 'So we did — it was 50 seconds long.' He claimed the BBC made them cut the video down, which he believed was the wrong decision. 'They said just make it ten seconds," Wynne told the hosts. 'So of course it turns into some sort of hostage style video. 'It was just a body language experiment that was picked up on." Now to prove he did in fact make a longer apology video, Wynne has released it. The video features both him and Katya backstage at Strictly, addressing the backlash of "gropegate" and revealing the truth behind the incident. In the video, Katya kicked things off and said: "Hello everyone. We felt the need to clarify something. "We find it quite fascinating how people take time to look into in such detail every gesture, every look." 8 In the video the pair revealed it had all been a joke that had bacfired Credit: Instagram Continuing Wynne said: "So we thought we'll mess around. And we said, 'Oh I'll put my hand on your waist, you pretend to move it away and let's see who notices it.' "And now everybody thinks I'm a weirdo. "But really I promise you I'm not. And we're doing this high ten thing as well where she blanks me from a high ten." Katya then said: "It's all sort of planned just to see...." Wynne added: "...if anybody notices. And like lots of people noticed." Katya then continued: "But we need to clarify that it's all just messing around. "It's quite funny but not. It's not funny." Wynne agreed: "It's not funny." He spoke about the now-infamous 'sex toy' incident involving fellow contestant 'We're on tour, spending 24 hours a day with people, you get to know people really well,' he said. 'It was a joke that went too far. He [Jamie] had been talking about this thing backstage — everyone in the dressing room was like, lets get him one. 'I ordered one off Amazon , and as soon as it arrived, it never left the dressing room , it went straight in the bin. The joke was over." 8 Wynne previously spoke to The Sun about the extent of his mental health battles following the scandal Credit: Dan Charity DARK DAYS It comes after Wynne told The Sun he wanted to take his own life in his darkest moments. He only found out he'd been fired by the BBC after reading it in The Sun - and days later discovered his BBC pass was deactivated without warning. He told us: 'One of the things I was disappointed with the BBC about is I've spoken openly about my mental health , I've made programmes for the BBC about it, done stuff for Mental Health Day. "I've done long interviews for them where I've talked about wanting to kill myself. 'Nobody should use that as an excuse if it's not what they're going through. But I've catalogued my mental health for years and I've been really open about it, so it was really hard and I felt like I was pushed to the real end. 'But I am feeling a lot stronger now.'

David Walliams ‘gave Nazi salutes while recording BBC's Would I Lie To You?'
David Walliams reportedly gave Nazi salutes while recording BBC panel show Would I Lie To You?. The 53-year-old, who left Britain's Got Talent in 2022 after making comments about the ITV show's contestants, is reported to have made the gesture twice during the filming of the show's Christmas special on Tuesday. He is reported to have made the salutes while his teammate on the show, Call The Midwife's Helen George, was telling a story about her experience on Strictly Come Dancing, in which she said she sprained her wrist from 'waving too much during the Strictly tour'. She was told by the opposing team, who she was trying to convince that her story was true, that her wave was 'too little', which is said to have led to Walliams joining in with a more vigorous wave which ended in a Nazi salute. David Walliams left Britain's Got Talent in 2022 (Aaron Chown/PA) Walliams, whose real name is David Edward Williams, was reportedly told off for the gesture by host Rob Brydon, before then performing another salute with a sexual connotation after some light-hearted lewd jokes about George's time on Strictly. The Times, who first reported the story, said team captain Lee Mack looked distinctly unimpressed by the incident. One person, who the newspaper says was a part of the audience during the show's filming, posted on X: 'I didn't have David Walliams doing a Nazi salute at the Would I Lie To You? Christmas taping on my 2025 bingo card.' It is understood that footage of the incident will not be broadcast. Walliams left Britain's Got Talent after he was caught making 'disrespectful comments' during breaks in filming about auditioning contestants in January 2020 at the London Palladium. Fremantle, which produces the ITV talent show, apologised after the comments were leaked and reached an 'amicable resolution' with Walliams after he sued the company for misuse of private information and breaching data law. A spokesperson for Banijay UK, which owns Would I Lie To You? production company Zeppotron, said: 'Any attempt at humour regarding this deeply offensive gesture, whether broadcast or not, is completely unacceptable in any context. 'It was immediately acknowledged during the recording that this segment would not be broadcast under any circumstances and we apologise to those who were at the recording for any offence caused.' A BBC spokesman added: 'The use of such an offensive gesture is completely unacceptable and we apologise to all at the recording for the offence caused.' Representatives for Walliams have been contacted for comment. Read More Surviving Beach Boys pay tribute to 'genius' Brian Wilson
