Pokemon GO Delightful Days Taken Over Event schedule, features, bonuses and more
After a pretty calm summer season for Pokémon GO, the bad guys are back again with the week-long event of 'Delightful Days: Taken Over' from August 11 to August 17, 2025. The takeover is much worse than an inconvenience, as it brings with it new Shadow Pokémon, new Shiny releases, and a new Legendary raid that will surely receive high priority on the list of trainers' engagements.
A Dark Arrival: Shadow Pokémon Debuts
To end the domination, the main event of the takeover will be the Shadow Giratina fetching for kidnappers. These are not just candidates for the Pokédex; really keen battlers know that Shadow forms are best used as raid and PvP heavyweights, especially with some finely tuned move set tweaking during the event.

Legendary Waters, Kyogre's Shadow Raid Debut
Adding to Giratina's ominous setting, Kyogre will be the center of attention at five-star raids on the 16th and 17th of August and trainers will be able to encounter its Shiny form for the first time.
This isn't Shadow Kyogre, but it does give some urgency to raiders hunting rare Legendaries in the midst of the takeover.
Lower-tier raids for that week offer this weird mix of nostalgia and collectability:
One-star raids:
Bellsprout, Aipom, Teddiursa, and Seedot, all with Shiny potential.
Three-star raids:
Girafarig, Absol (Shiny guaranteed), and Whirlipede for a tad bit more challenge.

The Rocket Leaders are holding well onto the Johto nostalgia:
Sierra has Totodile
Cliff has Cyndaquil
Arlo has Chikorita
For trainers seeking Shiny starters, it is a great opportunity with concentrated encounters and guaranteed rewards for each win. Niantic has feasibly unleashed Shiny Salandit and Shiny Salazzle, making them available for the first time in earnest.
