While on-demand content often benefits from 4K HDR, live broadcasts frequently fall short in image quality. IMAX's VisionScience technology addresses this gap, enabling broadcasters and streaming services to achieve top-tier visual standards in real-time.
IMAX Corporation is set to debut AI-driven technologies for premium live streaming at NAB 2025 , showcasing advancements designed to elevate real-time content quality. These leverage IMAX VisionScience, the company's proprietary AI-powered visual enhancement platform, to enhance visuals and boost viewer engagement across all devices and platforms.
Vikram Arumilli, SVP & GM, IMAX Streaming and Consumer Technology, said: 'Our latest innovations reaffirm IMAX's commitment to elevating premium live-streamed content, delivering best-in-class visuals. With a legacy of trust among content creators, producers, and fans worldwide, IMAX has long been synonymous with premium quality and pioneering innovation. Our latest advancements equip broadcasters with the tools to elevate quality, maximize efficiency, and engage fans at scale—all in real time.'
IMAX has already implemented this technology for high-profile live events, including the NBA Finals in China and the Summer Games in Paris. At NAB 2025, the company will demonstrate how its technology enhances clarity, brightness and overall viewing experiences, whether streamed directly to consumers or via cloud-based platforms.
In addition, IMAX will participate in the NAB Sports Summit alongside industry leaders such as AWS, the NFL and Microsoft.

FOR-A showcases next-generation broadcast solutions at CABSAT

The company will highlight four key technologies, all making their CABSAT debut, that are transforming broadcast workflows across the Middle East, Africa and beyond. FOR-A is set to showcase its latest lineup of next-generation broadcast technologies at CABSAT 2025, taking place from May 13 to 15 at the Dubai World Trade Centre (Stand AR-G10). Under the theme 'Connecting the present, Building the future,' the company will demonstrate how its cutting-edge solutions are bridging current production needs with the evolving demands of tomorrow's broadcast environments. Among the highlights of FOR-A's exhibit will be four groundbreaking technologies making their regional debut. Leading the lineup is FOR-A IMPULSE (Integrated Media Platform with UnLimited StructurE), which recently earned the Best of Show Award at NAB 2025. This software-defined live production platform merges essential broadcast functions—such as switchers, signal processors, multi-viewers, graphic generators, audio mixers, and media players—into a single, cohesive software solution. Its intuitive graph editor allows operators to create tailored production pipelines on the fly, eliminating the need for dedicated hardware and enabling unmatched workflow flexibility. Another showstopper will be the HANABI HVS-Q12, FOR-A's flagship production switcher, which represents a major leap forward in compact and scalable switcher technology. Housed in a space-saving 4RU chassis, the HVS-Q12 is designed for both 3G and 12G operations, allowing broadcasters to transition seamlessly to 4K/UHD workflows. The unit supports up to 60 inputs and 32 outputs in 3G mode, and up to 42 inputs and 23 outputs in 12G mode. It also features dual HDMI outputs and offers compatibility with IP standards such as Dante and NDI, enhancing its integration potential across diverse production environments. Also making its regional debut is the FOR-A MixBoard, developed in partnership with ClassX. Following its initial launch at IBC 2024—where it won the TVBEurope Best of Show award—and a subsequent Best of Show Award at NAB 2025, the software-based switcher continues to impress. With unlimited layering capabilities, the MixBoard allows seamless operation across SDI, NDI, SMPTE ST 2110, media files, and live streams. Available in 8-input and 16-input configurations, it offers advanced features through an intuitive interface, giving producers creative freedom in live production scenarios. Rounding out the showcase is FOR-A's AI-powered assistant, codenamed AiDi, which will be introduced to the region for the first time. Designed to run offline on a single PC, AiDi delivers real-time video processing with ultra-low latency. Drawing on over five decades of archived content, AiDi supports a range of intelligent features including automated subtitle translation, audio analysis, live video monitoring, face and object recognition, synthetic graphics generation, and player tracking for sports broadcasts—bringing new levels of automation and insight to modern production workflows. 'The broadcast landscape in the Middle East and Africa continues to evolve rapidly with major sporting events, cultural celebrations, and government initiatives driving demand for higher quality content and more flexible delivery options,' said Mohammed Abu Ziyadeh, FOR-A Regional Manager for the Middle East and Africa. 'Our solutions bridge traditional workflows with next-generation technologies, allowing broadcasters to evolve at their own pace, whether maintaining SDI infrastructures, exploring hybrid workflows, or fully embracing IP and software-defined production.' These infrastructure developments align with directives from Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to develop strategic and future-ready infrastructure, the Emirates News Agency (WAM) said in a statement. Trump tariffs result in increased demand for UAE property from foreign investors, here's what you need to know The real estate players in the UAE could be thanking the US President secretly as the Gulf country's property sector is projected to see a windfall gain in the coming weeks and months, with Donald Trump's maverick policy and tariff announcements sending the US dollar to a tailspin, and the consequent fall in value of dirham, triggering a surge in overseas investments in the sector, especially from Europe, Russia and India. The Gulf country's rising currency value proposition, coinciding with the non-domicile tax law changes in the UK, is also expected to lead to a spike in UK-based wealthy investors' high-end property acquisitions in Dubai and other parts of the UAE. With the UAE dirham pegged to the US dollar, the depreciation of the American currency leads to a fall in its value as well. Dubai real estate: Is it the right time to invest in the property market? Experts weigh in Amid fresh US tariffs and rising global market uncertainty, Dubai's property sector continues to attract international investors with strong rental returns, a stable currency, and steady capital growth. Record-breaking sales and double-digit price increases reflect sustained demand, led by global buyers, continue to boost the emirate as one of the world's most attractive real estate markets. Lewis Allsopp, Chairman of Allsopp & Allsopp, said: 'Yes, now is a great opportunity to invest in Dubai real estate. The track record speaks for itself, with those who've invested previously experiencing consistent growth and strong returns. With industry professionals actively investing and the UAE's economy thriving across various sectors, Dubai continues to offer attractive opportunities for long-term ROI. Dubai is a standout choice for investors seeking robust returns in a dynamic global market'. UAE approves plan to develop new laws with AI The UAE will develop and monitor laws in the country using a new artificial intelligence system. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, announced the new legislative process following a meeting of the UAE Cabinet at Qasr Al Watan, Abu Dhabi. During the meeting, the UAE Cabinet approved the launch of the first integrated regulatory intelligence ecosystem within the UAE Government. This new legislation and laws development system, which is the first of its kind globally, is based on the most advanced artificial intelligence approaches and solutions, marking a global first in smart governance. The ecosystem introduces a proactive approach to legislative planning, enabling the government to stay ahead of rapid changes in global geopolitical, economic, social, and technological landscapes. Real estate tokenisation: Dubai predicted to see $16bn market for digital fractional ownership Dubai's landmark initiative to kick off the tokenised property title deeds is projected to create a massive over $16 billion digital fractional ownership market in the emirate in the next few years, accounting for a sizeable share of property transactions in the emirate, sector experts told Arabian Business. The move is also expected to further boost overseas investments in the city's real estate sector, especially the residential segment, with tokenised online real estate platforms attracting international investors in large numbers, especially from Europe and Asia, bringing in top-dollar investments, they said. The Dubai Land Department (DLD) announced the launch of a pilot project to tokenise property title deeds in March this year, becoming the first land registry in the Middle East to implement blockchain-based property tokenisation. Dubai and Abu Dhabi are the best cities in the world for high-net-worth individuals to relocate to, according to Savills research. The trifecta of a fluid geopolitical and economic environment; changing government policies, taxes and incentives; and quality-of-life factors, is increasingly influencing where high net worth individuals (HNWIs) and footloose companies choose to locate, said Savills. The real estate consultancy launched the Savills Dynamic Wealth Indices to identify the cities that are performing well at attracting and developing wealth and investment from individuals and businesses. Dubai real estate sales hit $38.7bn in Q1; biggest neighbourhood price increases and best ROI revealed The Dubai real estate sector saw sales of more than AED142bn ($38.7bn) in Q1, according to Bayut statistical data analysis. The data points to a steady increase in property prices across key areas, driven by strong demand, consistent inventory supply, and Dubai's appeal to high-net-worth individuals drawn to its robust economy and favourable tax environment. Bayut's insights have shown price hikes for both apartments and villas, with villa prices in DAMAC Hills recording the highest increases of up to 21 per cent. For those seeking budget-friendly options, areas such as Dubai Residence Complex, Dubai Silicon Oasis, DAMAC Hills 2 and Dubailand have been prominent choices. Mid-tier buyers have leaned towards communities such as Jumeirah Village Circle, Business Bay, Al Furjan and Reem. On the luxury front, Dubai Marina, Downtown, Arabian Ranches and DAMAC Hills have continued to attract premium investors. Dubai's Majid Al Futtaim announces major $1.3bn Mall of the Emirates upgrade Majid Al Futtaim has announced a AED5 billion ($1.3 billion) investment to transform Mall of the Emirates into what the company calls a 'next-generation lifestyle destination'. The project, coinciding with the mall's 20th anniversary, aims to expand retail space and introduce new wellness, cultural and dining facilities. The transformation will add 20,000 square metres of retail space, accommodating 100 new stores across luxury, fashion and lifestyle categories. New Leadership, Same Strategy, Sharpened Focus

Grass Valley's new CEO Jon Wilson talks growth, the Middle East and customer success. At NAB 2025, Grass Valley made a bold yet well-prepared announcement: Jon Wilson officially stepped into the CEO role, succeeding Louis Hernandez Jr. But this wasn't a sudden move. In fact, as Wilson reveals, it was all part of a long-term plan. 'When I joined 18 months ago, the expectation was that we were going to get to this day,' Wilson shared. 'But Louis made it clear – you have to earn it.' That meant not just personal growth, but collective proof. 'We, as a leadership team and as a business, had to show we were ready.' Nine months ago, that transition was formally approved by Hernandez Jr. and the board. Since then, Wilson had already been leading the team, making NAB the perfect moment for a formal announcement. 'Louis has been a fantastic mentor and has given us the space to take control and prove ourselves,' he said. Wilson isn't here to upend a strategy that's working. And it is working. 'The fantastic thing about the past 12 months is that reality has caught up with the strategy,' he explained.' Bookings are up 25%. Our camera business grew 70%. That's not a small unit – we're talking tens of millions of dollars. Switchers grew 20%. And AAMP was up 300%.' This growth comes on the back of long-term platform development. 'Especially with AAMP, we spent time developing the platform and new applications. Now, customers have moved into commercial deployments across tier-one applications.' So no, the strategy doesn't change – but Wilson plans to sharpen its execution. 'What I'm bringing in is a relentless focus on customer success,' Wilson emphasised. A major move on that front was hiring Claudio Szabas as the new head of customer success. Szabas brings a rich mix of experience: broadcast, SaaS and a stint as a customer himself. 'He knows Grass Valley. He knows what our customers need and he's bringing SaaS-level thinking back into our environment.' That focus extends to operations as well. 'Operational excellence is high on my list – doing what we say we're going to do, optimising the organisation, and force-multiplying the impact we can all have.' Middle East: A Strategic Growth Market Among the top three growth markets identified by Grass Valley are South Asia, the Americas and the Middle East. And the numbers back it up. 'The Middle East grew about 30% last year,' said Wilson. 'It's one of our most strategic markets.' But he believes there's room for more. 'That's why we've added more resources and focused on partner-led go-to-market strategies.' Grass Valley's partner network in the region is robust: First Gulf and QVEST are key players, with Broadcast Solutions also active across Europe and the Middle East. 'And beyond that, we've got a number of local partners who've been incredibly supportive – and we plan to continue that support.' Despite only hiring one new person in the region last year, Wilson confirmed they're actively exploring more investment. 'With the momentum we're seeing, we know we need more on-the-ground presence.' So, what's unique about the Middle East? Wilson is quick to point out that while the challenges may feel regional, they're often global. 'A lot of customers are dealing with infrastructure that's nearing end-of-life. I hesitate to call it 'legacy' – these are still modern systems – but technology has moved quickly.' For Wilson, that's where Grass Valley can help. 'Modernisation can't happen the same way it used to – with bespoke hardware everywhere. There has to be a mindset shift. But that means we also need to help bridge the gap between technology teams and operations – the internal customers. That's a core focus for us.' Asked if he had a message for the Middle East, Wilson didn't hesitate: 'Grass Valley is committed to the region.' But commitment, he said, must be pragmatic. 'We're not in a 'spend no matter what' economy. But we do need to invest thoughtfully – early enough to grow, not so early that we outpace the revenue curve.' Wilson also underscored his personal approach to customer engagement. 'If a customer wants to reach out to me directly, they should. After the transition announcement on LinkedIn, someone did just that. I gave them my email and said, 'Let's talk.' I want to hear what's working – and what's not.' Jon Wilson is hoping to chart a future rooted in continuity, with a clear eye on modernisation and operational impact. If the past year's numbers are anything to go by, reality won't just catch up with strategy – it might just surpass it.
