Eddie McGuire just couldn't help himself.
The catfighting among the AFL's media shows has been at an all-time high in 2025, largely sparked by a host of big names leaving Nine for Channel 7, including Kane Cornes, Craig Hutchison and Caroline Wilson.

It has become common for journalists and ex-footy players to take shots at each other across television and radio, including Cornes' high-profile feud with 7 stablemate Dale Thomas among others.
Wilson and Hutchison had their own slanging match on Monday night after the former had a dig at Hutchy's decision to sack some beloved staff from RSN following his $3.25 million takeover of the radio station.

It's not often that Channel 7's laidback show, The Front Bar, gets into the crosshairs, but McGuire couldn't resist firing a shot at the program this week from his offering, Footy Classified.
It all stemmed from The Front Bar host Andy Maher's public run-in with a spectator at last week's clash between Carlton and Melbourne at the MCG.
Surprisingly, the incident wasn't brought up on Wednesday night's show, stunningly given a pass by comedians Mick Molloy and Sam Pang.
But footage surfaced over the weekend of Maher getting caught up in ugly scenes while sitting in the stands watching his beloved Blues.
Footage of the incident showed a fellow spectator leave his seat and walk over to Maher before leaning over the presenter to engage with him.

Fans in the vicinity can be seen calling for security to remove the individual as a woman in a brown jacket attempts to de-escalate the situation.
The 61-year-old Maher remained seated throughout the nearly two-minute ordeal before MCG security ultimately separated the man from Maher and escorted him out of the area, which was met with widespread applause from those seated nearby.
Maher later had some strong words for the situation on SEN, asking: 'Why do you have to come along and get yourself munted and then make a fool of yourself and ruin everyone else's experience.'
This is where McGuire steps in.
Right before the closing credits on Footy Classified, McGuire attempted to demonstrate he was going to show some restraint, before firing off his own shot at Maher.
'All right guys. I was going to say something about a story that was coming up with Andy Maher, but I'll let it go til next week,' he said.
'I don't need to have a blue with anybody at the moment.
'But if you're hosting a show called The Front Bar, don't complain about people drinking at the footy.'
Way to let it go, Eddie.

McGuire's comments come after Maher spoke about the incident on SEN, where he stated the whole situation had been blown out of proportion.
'Whoever has told you that story, they're going a little over the top,' he said.
Aussie basketball icon Andrew Gaze said he heard Maher had been involved in a 'heated exchange'.
'From what I hear, and I've heard this from a number of different sources, you were virtually assaulted at the football as well,' Gaze said on 'The Run Home With Gazey And Andy'.
'You were involved in a heated exchange with perhaps someone who'd had perhaps a few too many beverages.'
Maher said Aussie comedian Dave Hughes had also been involved.
Maher told Gaze: 'Well, he (the person involved) was escorted out of the premises. It had nothing to do with me.
'I just told the fella to sit down. I said, 'Mate, you're going to get thrown out if you keep going. ' He got thrown out.
'I missed the start of it, but Dave Hughes was in the middle of it all at the start and doing a very fine job of sticking up for one of our veteran members of society, who had, apparently, drawn some unsavoury language from this bloke.'
Maher said he believes the man was not a Carlton supporter.
'Hopefully he woke up the next morning feeling like a right git because he carried on like a pork chop,' Maher said.
'If he'd have just turned around and sat down and watched the last three minutes of the game and stopped doing whatever he was doing, he would have been fine.'

The club doctor called Lyon early on Sunday morning to let him know his best player was in doubt, but Wanganeen-Milera reassured his coach he would be fine. "He's an absolute freak," Clark said of his teammate's skill. "But he's such a good man. "The way he plays, almost you'd expect him to just be this real out there character, like he probably has every right to just strut around. "But he's the most humble bloke you'll come across. "He's an absolute freak of a talent, but he works as hard as anyone. It's not all just what you see on the field. "He's absolute star, and I think he's made for those moments." After just their second win since the start of May, St Kilda can take confidence out of their Marvel miracle into 2026. "If we can just finish the year strong, just keep getting experience into everyone and keep growing," Clark said. "Then just get to work over the summer. "It's not just going to happen in a day. Hamish Blake's cake night stuns fans once again
Media personality Hamish Blake has won hearts once again after documenting his attempt at making a birthday cake for one of his children. Blake shares two children, Sonny, 11, and Rudy, eight, with his wife, beauty guru Zoë Foster Blake. Every year, on the eve of one of his children's birthdays, the 43-year-old father documents his endeavour to make a birthday cake, with Rudy's eighth birthday was no exception. Blake said the hardest part was that he was filming with Andy Lee in Melbourne and needed to fly back to Sydney, where he lived, at 5.30pm — which meant the cake process would be starting later than usual. But, the hands-on dad delivered and documented the while journey. He started by making the dolls head and attaching it to a pole, which would later form the body. Blake attached it to the store-bought cake, which he had iced, and then started on the hair. The fondant kept breaking on it. 'I thought it would be like a hair plait, but it's not hair and it's not behaving like hair so we're just going to move onto other stuff,' he said, according to Mamamia. Blake moved back to the runway and the outfit, which was a little smaller than intended. He remedied the issue and pushed along. Eventually, he came back to the hair. It did prompt a slight panic but he pulled through. While the cake did look like a doll, Blake was an extra harsh critic on himself and declared it was only 'Okay'. Finally, at 3am, he was officially done. 'Thanks for hanging in there gang. Happy birthday to the greatest daughter I could imagine,' he added.

Melbourne Vixens stun NSW Swifts in preliminary final comeback, grand final vs West Coast Fever

They came from behind in the dying seconds of the game, having trailed 51-41 after the third quarter, and will go into next week's match full of confidence having won eight of their last ten games. Standing in their way however, will be the formidable West Coast Fever, who demolished the Swifts by 32 points in last weekend's major semi-final. Speaking post match captain and MVP Kate Moloney said, 'I'm exhausted but I'm so bloody proud. We were down by ten goals and we found something in that last quarter and they just never stopped fighting.' Coaching her second last match with the Vixens, Simone McKinnis, added, 'We weren't going to walk away from here afraid to take risks. They saw a glimpse and a hope and away they went.' It was the greatest preliminary final comeback in Super Netball history, beating the nine-goal market the Vixens set in 2022 against the Giants. It was a dismal end to the season for Swifts, despite the return of inspirational captain Paige Hadley who has missed the last two rounds with a foot injury. While she provided a calm head and safe pair of hands, the Swifts have been bundled out of the finals in straight sets, after looking untouchable as they went undefeated through the first eight rounds. (Photo by) There was immense pressure from the opening whistle, causing fumbles, stray passes and uncharacteristic missed shots. The Swifts were first to take advantage of those errors, going long and high to Grace Nweke in the circle. Despite her athleticism, some balls were sprayed over her head or swatted away by goal keeper Rudi Ellis who finished with six gains, allowing the Vixens to shift gears and take a three point lead into the first break. The Swifts hit the front in the second quarter as their confidence grew, with Helen Housby raising the bar after a quiet few weeks. Passes started going in more smoothly to the circle, with Nweke lifting her shooting from a subpar 77 percent in the first quarter to a total of 53/58 at 91 percent across the match. With the Swifts' Sharni Lambden applying enormous pressure at wing defence, Vixens' skipper Moloney did everything she could to pull her side over the line. She had a strong connection with Sophie Garbin under the post, who picked up the slack while the hero of so many victories, Kiera Austin, struggled for influence early on. In an inspirational last quarter Austin finally switched on her radar when it counted, firing in three long range shots to finish with 12/16 including four from five supershots, while her partner Garbin had a solid 46/47. The Vixens found another gear and rolled over the Swifts in highly emotional scenes. MCKINNIS MAGIC Simone McKinnis will make her final appearance as Vixens' coach in next weekend's grand final, after 212 games in charge of the club. Across 13 years, she's taken them to two titles, three minor premierships and a further three grand final appearances, and will leave massive shoes to fill. It looked like it was going to be McKinnis' final game in charge at the end of the third quarter but an inspiration and emotional final address helped inspire the Vixens to life. 'We have nothing to lose here! Except for throwing our best selves as this contest,' McKinnis said. PAIN FOLLOWS A POINT Remarkably, the previous three Super Netball preliminary finals have been decided by a solitary point, with the Vixens taking out two of those wins, and the Swifts the other.
