DNA results confirm the murder of Pretoria journalist

The South African Police Service has confirmed that the remains found in Rust De Winter last month, are of journalist, Aserie Ndlovu and his partner. Ndlovu and his girlfriend went missing on 18 February 2025. The bodies analysed for DNA were discovered by SAPS on 8 May 2025. 'The SAPS can now confirm that a DNA analysis has been concluded and has positively linked the remains to that of Aserie Ndlovu and Zodwa Mdhluli', said national police spokesperson, Athlenda Mathe. Mathe said the remains found were analysed and matched against samples taken from biological relatives of both Ndlovu and Mdhluli. SAPS has notified both families of the positive DNA match. The families have also been told that the results confirm that the remains found are of the missing couple. Mathe said the police were pleased to assist both families in finding closure. While the families come to terms with this new development, the case of the suspected killers of Ndlovu and Mdhluli continues before the KwaMhlanga Magistrate's Court. Seven suspects were arrested on 4 May 2025, over two months since the couple had been missing. The seven were charged with kidnapping, house robbery and possession of stolen property. Last month, a cross province operation involving Gauteng and Mpumalanga police led SAPS to the seven suspects. They were questioned and subsequently arrested. 'The first suspect who is arrested, is according to investigations, the last to be in the company of the missing couple', said Mathe. 'The second, third and fourth suspects that have been arrested were found with different vehicle parts believed to be that of the missing journalist', she continued. Police Commissioner, General Fannie Masemola has previously attributed the police successfully apprehending the suspects, to public participation. 'The social media community must also be appreciated for sharing the pictures of these suspects far and wide. Together, we can do more with the cooperation of communities in fighting crime and apprehending dangerous criminals ', said Masemola. DO YOU BELIEVE THAT SOCIAL MEDIA PLAYS A ROLE IN SOLVING CRIME? Orlando Pirates interested in signing African top teenager prodigy!

Orlando Pirates are set to announce a number of new signings soon as the transfer window opens for next season. Pirates are rumoured to have been busy with boosting their squad ahead of another busy campaign in 2025/26. One of the positions that Pirates seem keen to revamp ahead of the new campaign, is their midfield. According to reports, the Buccaneers have transfer agreements in place to sign Sihle Nduli and Sinoxolo Kwayiba. Nduli would be arriving from Stellenbosch FC as a free agent, while Kwayiba is set to join from Chippa United. Now according to Soccer-Laduma , Pirates are also targeting young Zimbabwean forward Prirnce Ndlovu. 'He (Ndlovu) trained with Pirates in March 2023 and and at that time he was only 16-years-old. He was preparing to go to Europe but things didn't work out. It's believed that since then Pirates scouts have apparently been monitoring him and now they are willing to give him a chance at the team. They have kept tabs on him and they are impressed by his progress at Highlanders FC in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe,' said the source to the same publication. A second source said that Pirates will be monitoring Ndlovu in the ongoing COSAFA Cup in Bloemfontein. 'Pirates will have the chance to continue monitoring him (Ndlovu) when he plays for the Zimbabwe national team at the COSAFA Cup. Yes, it's believed that the scouts and recruiters are happy and this will give them a first-hand chance to see him in action before they could finalise anything,' said the second source to the same publication. Pirates already have two young wingers in Relebohile Mofokeng and Mohau Nkota. Adding the exciting Ndlovu to the mix will increase their depth and strength for next season. Buccaneers will Ndlovu, would this be a good move for the club? Let us know by clicking on the comment tab. Or by emailing info@ or sending a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1. Former Orlando Pirates defensive target now available for free!

Orlando Pirates are getting ready to usher in a new era at the club, ahead of the 2025/26 season. Pirates will be without coach Jose Riveiro for the first time in thee-years after the Spanish mentor joined Al Ahly. The Buccaneers are rumoured to have made at least five signings so far, with many more expected. In order to make way for these signings, it is expected that Pirates will have a mass clear out! Two players already out are Miguel Timm as well as captain Innocent Maela. The skipper will leave a gap in the defence and it now appears the club are moving quickly to fill it. Pirates will then be looking for defensive reinforcements, with Stellenbosch FC duo Thabo Moloisane and Fawaaz Basadien in the picture. Now before the club had those targets, they were reportedly interested in Sicelokuhle Hlatshwayo of Golden Arrows. According to FARPost , former Pirates target Hlatshwayo has now parted ways with Arrows. 'Golden Arrows have parted ways with defender Sicelokuhle Hlatshwayo following the end of the 2024/25 PSL season, FARPost has learnt. And in the recently concluded season, the former Jomo Cosmos man, Hlatshwayo, was completely excluded, not featuring in a single match. His sole appearance on the team list was as an unused substitute in a 0-0 Betway Premiership draw against Polokwane City FC. Looking to start a new chapter elsewhere, Hlatshwayo has departed Arrows, according to FARPost sources. It is understood that the player has been granted a clearance, making him available to clubs that could be interested in his services ahead of the 2025/26 season. Hlatshwayo, before his struggles for playing time, was heavily linked with Orlando Pirates in 2023, though the move ultimately didn't materialise.' Wrote the publication. Comfortable at both right-back and centre-back Hlatshwayo offers the versatility needed in the modern day. Pirates fans, would you sign him at 31? Let us know by clicking on the comment tab.
