Kaizer Chiefs transfer news: Fawaaz Basadien
Is the dream over? This is not the ideal news for Kaizer Chiefs supporters who have been calling for Fawaaz Basadien. As early as the start of the season, coach Nasreddine Nabi has been targeting a special left-back with Stellenbosch FC's Basadien the prime target. According to the latest report, Kaizer Chiefs are finding endless obstacles in the chase to sign the 27-year-old left-back. Reports say Amakhosi have started looking elsewhere. Soccer Laduma believes that the Soweto giants are considering to work with Happy Mashiane, Bradley Cross and Edmilson Dove as the solutions to the left-back position. 'Happy (Mashiane) is amongst the players who have been told to report for the pre-season meeting at the end of June. This means the team still has plans for him,' the outlet reported. Image: SuperSport Website 'You know with Edmilson Dove believed to be leaving at the end of June then the Kaizer Chiefs will only have Bradley Cross as a left back so they believe Happy (Mashiane) should stay at the club until they are sure they have signed a dependable left back who can work with Cross. 'So, he is not going anywhere right now until a new signing is available, ' the insider added. Another source told the same publication that Kaizer Chiefs have not entirely given up on Basadien and the Simba SC captain, Mohamed Hussein. 'They haven't given up on Fawaaz (Basadien) though it's believed that Sundowns have offered more money than Chiefs and Pirates. And there is Tanzanian international Mohamed Hussein. 'But since they haven't signed any of them yet they are keeping Happy Mashiane and it's also believed they can promote Kabelo Nkgwesa. That's the club's plan for now,' the source told the outlet. Nasreddine Nabi is the 'new Ten Hag'
Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi is set to stay at the club next season despite exit reports. The 59-year-old Tunisian guided Amakhosi to their first cup win in 10 years. Nabi was unable to inspire the team in the Betway Premiership as they finished ninth this season with only eight wins. According to Soccer Laduma , Kaizer Chiefs management has decided to give Nabi another chance. 'For now, we know that the coach will be joining the team on the pre-season tour and camp. Yes, to a certain extent, we say his future is not yet clear but for the pre-season training. I am certain he will apparently be joining them. He has suggested some players whom he would like to sign and he has to be there to see that happen. That's where things are believed to be right now,' the insider told Soccer Laduma . Last season, Nabi joined Kaizer Chiefs in Turkey for their pre-season tour after concluding his business in Morocco. He brought in a total of 10 players, but only four of them featured permanently in his starting lineup. The likes of Thabo Cele and Miguel Inacio brought experience and leadership in the Chiefs lineup, with Makabi Lilepo giving Amakhosi the needed firepower upfront. Nabi's season is reminiscent of Erik ten Hag's 2023/24 season with Manchester United, where they finished eighth in the league but managed to win the FA Cup against their rivals, Manchester City. The Dutch coach was allowed another season to demonstrate his capabilities, but ultimately, he was sacked just three months into the new campaign. Similarly, Nabi has secured the Nedbank Cup, which is the South African equivalent of the FA Cup, by defeating his rivals. If the Chiefs decide to retain the former Yanga coach, it could result in another wasted season next year. Kaizer Chiefs to sell their goalkeeper
Kaizer Chiefs are ready to be ruthless in the winter window. They feel now is the time to address the goalkeeping situation once and for all. According to Soccer Laduma, Chiefs will cash in on former TS Galaxy 'keeper Fiacre Ntwari. The 25-year-old Kigali-born star only made five appearances in the 2024-2025 Betway Premiership campaign. 'The club still respects Ntwari, but they are realistic about his situation,' an insider said. 'If a good offer comes and it makes sense for everyone involved, Kaizer Chiefs will consider letting him go, especially with the squad changes expected under the new technical direction,' the source added. Kaizer Chiefs closing in on Oswin Appollis
Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly in advanced talks to sign Bafana Bafana winger Oswin Appollis. The Soweto giants have been linked to the Polokwane City star for nearly two years. Before the start of the season, Amakhosi reportedly made an offer to Rise and Shine but was rejected. Appollis has had an average season, only managing to score two goals. His impact with the national team have been immense since the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. Regarding his future, Soccer Laduma reported that Appollis might be eyeing a move to Kaizer Chiefs next season. 'What we believe is that apparently the talks involving Appollis and Kaizer Chiefs are at an advanced stage,' the source told the publication. Another city star Thabang Matuludi, is set to leave the club at the end of the season. 'Yes, it's believed that Orlando Pirates are close to signing Thabang Matuludi, so the way things are, the two Soweto giants could get a player each from Polokwane City at the start of next season,' Soccer Laduma reported. Polokwane City head coach Phuti Mohafe did not detail whether the club would lose Appollis and Matuludi to both Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates. That has been every team's mandate or method to say, 'We need to strengthen, and you have to lose some.' You cannot bring in some, and you still have a load of players who are still remaining on the team,' Phuti told the media. 'And the speculation has been there, so let them continue, and I don't want to mention names as to who are being touted. So let it be. Whoever goes, let him go, and whoever stays, let him stay.' Kaizer Chiefs legend Doctor Khumalo claimed that Appollis was keen on joining Amakhosi before the start of the season. It remains to be seen if the speedy winger will move to another PSL team.
