Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR's War 2 sees a phenomenal response in the USA and Canada, with over $85K bookings in just a few hours.
Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR's action thriller War 2 is just a few weeks away from its much-anticipated release. Anticipation is peaking for the sixth instalment in Yash Raj Films' Spy Universe, creating waves of excitement not just in India but globally. Having said that, the advance bookings for War 2 opened in North America.
Just hours after advance bookings commenced, Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR's star power had spread its magic, and the film saw impressive early numbers. The film is off to a flying start in terms of reach, already locking in 506 theatres and 1399 shows across the United States.
According to market tracker Venky Box Office, the USA and Canada combined gross stands at $85,000 (Rs 74.27 lakh) on just the first day. Of this, the USA alone accounts for $70,663 (Rs 61.74 lakh), with 2,603 tickets already sold.
Jr. NTR Fans Fuel Telugu Premiere Surge
Interestingly, advance bookings are stronger in Telugu than in Hindi, owing largely to Jr NTR's massive fanbase and the tradition of premiere shows in South Indian cinema. While Hindi versions typically see bookings pick up closer to release, Telugu audiences have already begun securing their premiere night plans.
Over the weekend, a significant surge in Hindi bookings is expected as the Independence Day holiday approaches.
War 2: Cast, Plot and Spy Universe Expansion
Directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by Aditya Chopra, War 2 is the sixth film in the YRF Spy Universe. A sequel to the 2019 blockbuster War, the film sees Hrithik Roshan return as the super-spy Kabir, while Jr NTR joins as the enigmatic Vikram, marking his much-awaited Bollywood debut.
Also starring Kiara Advani in a bold, never-seen-before role, War 2 is set against a backdrop of high-stakes espionage and intense personal conflict. The film, with its power-packed action and star-studded cast, is already being billed as one of the biggest releases of 2025.
War 2's Global Release Date
War 2 is scheduled for a worldwide release on August 14, perfectly timed with the Independence Day holiday in India. With Jr. NTR's fanbase driving premieres and Hrithik Roshan's mass appeal ensuring pan-India and overseas buzz, all eyes are on how big War 2 can get when it hits cinemas worldwide.

Tehran OTT release: John Abraham says it's 'disheartening' as theatres avoided film over controversies

John Abraham has expressed his disappointment over the direct-to-OTT release of his long-delayed film 'Tehran', which is now set to premiere on ZEE5 after being held back since 2023. Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, the actor admitted, 'It's very disheartening. I'm not going to mince my words on it, but it breaks your heart, especially for an actor who always wants to be seen on the big screen. But we all made a very informed decision on that. And the decision was that because of the conflicts and controversies that are happening around internationally.' The film, which features significant references to Iran and Israel, faced reluctance from cinema chains due to its sensitive geopolitical context. 'Theatres were a little wary of picking up a film that had Iran and Israel in it. We had a choice of either showing the film somewhere or not showing it at all,' John explained. Abraham credited ZEE5 for stepping in to give the film a home. 'Zee5 has been gracious and told us they would be our platform. But it also breaks your heart as an actor who only wants to be seen on the big screen,' he noted. Describing 'Tehran' as more of a foreign film, he added, 'When you will see the film, you will understand that why it will not resonate with a larger audience. It has got a lot of Farsi in it and a lot of Hebrew in it. It's only 1 hour and 50 minutes long. It's got a lot of foreign language in it.' Explaining the authenticity behind the language use, he said, 'The film is called Tehran and once you enter Tehran, you are not going to be speaking in Hindi… Having said all of it, it's finally coming out.' 'Tehran' will arrive on the streaming platform on August 14.
