Brooke Hogan slams 'media convoluting the narrative' in tribute to dad Hulk Hogan
The "Hogan Knows Best" star, 37, took to Instagram in a post Tuesday, July 29, to address speculation about their father-daughter bond.
"My dad's blood runs through my veins. His eyes shine through my children. And our bond has never broken, not even in his final moments," the mom of two wrote. "We had a connection deeper than words, one that spanned lifetimes."
Oleksy shares twins, born this January, with her former pro hockey player husband Steven Oleksy. She first revealed in March she has "completely separate reasons for going no contact with each of my parents," citing verbal and mental abuse.

WWE icon Hogan died last week at 71 in Clearwater, Florida. In a statement, the entertainment company called him "one of pop culture's most recognizable figures" and said he "helped WWE achieve global recognition in the 1980s."

But in her note, the ex-pop singer slammed the headlines, writing that the "media has been convoluting the narrative." Instead of a major falling out, Oleksy said she wanted to be a "life raft" for him after years of wrestling took a toll on his body.
"We never had a 'big fight.' My father and I never 'fought.' It was a series of private phone calls no one will ever hear, know, or understand," Oleksy wrote. "My father was confiding in me about issues weighing on his heart, both personal and business."
However, despite moving closer to him in Florida, Oleksy said she "wanted to be there" for her dad "as much as possible" through almost 25 surgeries, but "then all of a sudden he didn't want me at surgeries."
"Everything started getting covered in a thick veil," Oleksy wrote. "It was like there was a force field around him that I couldn't get through."
Hulk Hogan, WWE Hall of Famer and wrestling legend, dies at 71
The VH1 reality show "Hogan Knows Best" followed the Hogan family's chaotic personal and professional life as a teenaged Oleksy had high hopes of music superstardom. The show aired for two seasons from 2005 to 2007, and Oleksy landed the spinoff "Brooke Knows Best" a year later, which also lasted two seasons.
Oleksy wrote in her July 29 note she "had to step away to protect my heart" over the past two years, but her "husband stayed open, quietly reaching out to my dad without me knowing, trying to find a safe way back in for me." She continued, telling fans that "after my father passed, I read those messages, some answered, some ignored ... but all of them broke my heart."

In a separate post, Oleksy wrote a note to her "dearest daddy," calling the former pro wrestler her "everything."
"I will always be your girl," Oleksy said. "I am PROUD to be your daughter—for all the love, light, and goodness you brought into this world. Thank you for choosing me in this lifetime, and for loving me so deeply."

Rottweiler Finds Musical Instrument, Gets Stuck in the Most Unexpected Way
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. In a vet clinic in New South Wales, Australia, one dog surprised staff when she arrived in "a bit of a pickle." Koda, a 10-month-old rottweiler, had surprised her mom when she returned home from her first Tinder date and found her pup at the door. The surprise? A white circular object was lodged firmly in her mouth. The pup had managed to get hold of a Zendrum—a hand-held percussion instrument—and accidentally lodged it in her mouth. Koda's owner rushed her to the vet where veterinarian and clinic owner Dr. Bruce Krumm quickly stepped in. "We sedated Koda first, then intubated her as a precaution in case general anesthesia was required. Fortunately, Dr. Krumm was able to remove the Zendrum without needing to fully anaesthetise her," Tiana McLaren, practice manager at Kanwal Veterinary Hospital, told Newsweek. Pictures of Koda the dog with the Zendrum instrument in her mouth. Pictures of Koda the dog with the Zendrum instrument in her mouth. @kanwalvet/Instagram "Cases like this are rare. While we often see foreign-body ingestion, it's not every day something gets stuck quite like this," McLaren said. Unexpectedly consumed items are no surprise in the pet world. In 2023, pet medical insurance company Trupanion reported that it handled 24,000 foreign-body ingestion claims in pets. The average claim was $878, while the highest claim was $27,403. The clinic shared a video of the moment on Instagram where it has been viewed more than 540,000 times. In the comments, people shared their reactions. "Sooo he bit more than he could chew," joked one viewer, while another said: "They just wanted to be a drummer." "Miss Koda is still cute," wrote a third commenter. "Even with a Zen drum stuck to her snoot." Not all feedback was friendly, though. Some social-media users suggested the procedure must have cost the owner thousands and accused veterinarians of profiteering. But McLaren said: "Just to put things into perspective—the total cost of the procedure was $259. It's not about a money grab. It's about caring for animals." Koda is now doing just fine, free from the musical drum, and her mom is still seeing the man from the first date who got to see it all. This isn't the first time an unusual vet story has captured viral attention. Earlier this year, an owner panicked when her dog started acting strangely, only to discover that the pup had accidentally eaten a THC-infused edible. Another dog owner found herself left with a $600 vet bill, but the diagnosis was far from expected. After a trip to the veterinarian, they found out that the dog was simply struggling with gas. Mom Relaxes on Couch With Son and Bump—4 Days Later, Life Changes Forever
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A couple was preparing to welcome a new baby into their home, not realizing mom was actually carrying twins. Emmy Quintana, 29, lives in Utah with her husband, Alexander, 30, their three-year-old son Artemis, and their newest arrivals, twins Micah and Finnick, aged four months. For months, Quintana and her husband were preparing their lives to welcome a sibling for Artemis, and while Quintana had "always wanted and prayed for twins," they assumed they were expecting just one baby. "I would joke around about me having twins to my husband, but he didn't think it was funny," she told Newsweek. "Looking back, it is definitely obvious that what I was feeling was not normal. My baby bump started showing really early, and I felt the baby kick weeks before I had with my first pregnancy. Everything was way more sensitive. It felt like there was so much more weight on my hips way earlier on." Emmy Quintana and her young son, before she learned she was expecting twins. Emmy Quintana and her young son, before she learned she was expecting twins. Instagram @emmypickle Despite this, the assumption of one baby lasted all through the pregnancy, until four days before Quintana gave birth, when the couple received the shock news that she was, in fact, carrying twins. Their story has now been seen by hundreds of people, after the mom-of-three shared what happened to her Instagram account, @emmypickle. In a video posted on July 17, with 897 likes, Quintana relaxes on the couch with her young son and their pet cat. And while it seems like a normal family snapshot, she wrote: "She doesn't know it yet but there is an additional baby in her belly waiting to be discovered just 4 days before being born." Instagram users were awed, one calling it a "wonderful surprise," and asking: "Did you have to go out and buy a second car seat and such? Did you even have time to do so with so few days before they arrived?" "The cat was telling you all alone," one commenter said, pointing out how the pet was lying across Quintana's stomach in the clip. "My cat was the most accurate pregnancy test ever. She predicted both my younger siblings and my kids too." Another shared their own story: "I also didn't know I was carrying twins until I went into labor at 35.4 weeks. Had one ultrasound at 18-20 weeks—saw one baby!" In Quintana's case, she explained they "opted to not do any ultrasounds this pregnancy, which resulted in us never knowing it was twins til later on." "I remember hearing somewhere that your second pregnancy is way different than your first, because your body knows what to expect. Looking back at all my symptoms and the way I was feeling, it was definitely because I had twins—but at the time, I thought it was just different because it wasn't my first pregnancy." It was only when Quintana reached 35 weeks and began "measuring slightly ahead" that her midwife suggested she could have extra amniotic fluid, or perhaps a larger-than-average baby. And at her next appointment, where she was measuring even further ahead, they "finally talked about the real possibility of there being two babies and how dramatically that could change what birth looks like. Read more Woman takes pregnancy test—hysterics at what she does ".02 seconds" later Woman takes pregnancy test—hysterics at what she does ".02 seconds" later "We agreed to go and get an ultrasound finally, so that both my birth team and we were prepared if it was twins." And just minutes in, her tech confirmed it—there were two. A gender blood test had already shown that Quintana was having a boy, and they initially "didn't worry about getting any more baby stuff" as they had plenty left from their firstborn. But after the shock twin reveal, "we scrambled to get a small registry together for the extra items we suddenly needed. We have a great support system and we were luckily able to get everything soon afterwards," she said. But things moved quickly—as just three days later, Quintana was diagnosed with preeclampsia, a condition dangerous for both mother and baby, and she was immediately brought in to be induced. "We went from thinking we had one baby and a few more weeks of being pregnant, to having my twin boys in my arms just four days later." In 2023, there were 110,393 twin births in the United States, at a rate of 30.7 per 1,000 live births. Triplets were far less common, at 2,505—and there were just `148 quadruplet or higher order births that year, according for the National Center for Health Statistics. Now, with the twins having arrived safely, Quintana has "no qualms about how everything happened. I think God had a plan and maybe He wanted me to have peace during the pregnancy—up until the ultrasound at least! "I'm a pretty laid back person and don't get anxious often so I loved getting the surprise and just looked at everything as a blessing."
