Taylor Swift's Musical Triumph Turns Into BFF Dinner Night With Selena Gomez

Yahoo2 days ago

just scored one of the biggest wins of her career, and she's celebrating it with her longtime bestie by her side.
The 'Fortnight' singer was spotted enjoying a celebratory dinner with this week, just hours after news broke that Taylor had officially regained ownership of her original masters.
Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez were all smiles in a candid photo taken during their night out, with fans quick to note the joy radiating from both stars.
For Swift, it's a victory that's been six years in the making.
In 2019, music executive Scooter Braun acquired her original master recordings in a $300 million deal with Big Machine Label Group, a move that was made without her knowledge or consent. The shocking purchase sparked a firestorm in the music industry and led Taylor to begin re-recording her first six albums in a bold move to reclaim her work.
A year later, Braun sold the masters to private equity firm Shamrock Capital. But now, in a full-circle twist, that same company has reportedly sold the music library back to its rightful owner, Taylor herself.
And to celebrate, it seems she and her longtime bestie, Selena Gomez, went out for some much-needed girl time. In a photo, which was also obtained by Pop Base on X, the two are seated at a dimly lit, elegant restaurant table, complete with classic table lamps and water glasses.
Selena, dressed in a neutral-toned outfit with her hair pulled back, appears calm and engaged as she rests her chin on her hand and looks at Taylor. Meanwhile, Taylor, wearing a glamorous black dress with sparkling trim, is caught mid-reaction, mouth open in what seems to be surprise or excitement.
Following the bombshell announcement, Selena took to Instagram to share her love and admiration for her best friend, writing, 'SO proud!' in a supportive Instagram Stories post that quickly went viral among fans of both women.
Their reunion over dinner wasn't just a celebration. It was a full-circle moment for two of Hollywood's most loyal ride-or-dies.
The pair, who have been friends for over a decade, have weathered countless milestones together. But this one might be among the most personal for Taylor.
The duo first met in August 2008, introduced by none other than the Jonas Brothers. Taylor was dating , and Selena was dating .
'It was hysterical,' Gomez later recalled in a 2017 interview with KISS FM UK, per PEOPLE. 'We actually dated the Jonas Brothers together! … It was the best thing we got out of those relationships.'
From that moment, their friendship bloomed. Just a month after their first public hangout, Swift was front and center supporting Gomez at the premiere of "Another Cinderella Story," and their red carpet era officially began.
By the time Gomez sat down with Seventeen magazine, she was already turning to Taylor for love advice. 'Every single problem I ever have is healable by Taylor Swift!' she gushed. 'She gives the most thought-out answers … because of her, I haven't lost faith [in love]. We literally talk every day.'
Their bond wasn't just built on late-night phone calls and advice sessions. It translated to the stage as well.
On November 22, 2011, Gomez shocked fans at Madison Square Garden when she popped up during Taylor's "Speak Now" tour to sing her hit 'Who Says.' It was one of their earliest moments performing together, and it wouldn't be the last.
In August 2015, the pair proved their sisterhood was still going strong when Gomez joined Taylor on her "1989" tour stop in Los Angeles. The two strutted down the runway in coordinated black and white looks, belting out 'Good For You' like total pros.
'After nearly 8 years of friendship,' Gomez wrote on Instagram, 'I just can't wait to tell our kids we ACTUALLY got to perform in front of thousands of insanely beautiful people together. TWICE!'
In Gomez's WSJ Magazine cover story, the longtime besties opened up about their nearly two-decade bond, offering a rare glimpse into the love, loyalty, and mutual respect that has kept them close through it all.
'There has always been this quality of sisterhood, and I don't say that in a basic way,' Swift shared. 'I knew from when I met her I would always have her back.' The Grammy-winning artist added that while she's learned to forgive people who've wronged her over the years, 'I don't know if I can forgive someone who hurts her.'
Gomez echoed the sentiment, noting that their friendship has only grown stronger through the hard times. 'She has showed up for me in ways that I would have never expected,' she said, recalling times Swift flew in to support her during difficult family moments and personal struggles. 'It's been proven year after year and in every moment of my life that she is one of my best friends in the world.'
From romantic ups and downs to sold-out arenas and award show cameos, the duo has never let distance, fame, or time weaken their connection. And with their recent dinner outing following Taylor's major career win, it's clear that after more than 15 years, these two are still each other's biggest cheerleaders.

Alex Anzalone's cryptic post adds fuel to the perceived contract demands in Detroit

Alex Anzalone's cryptic post adds fuel to the perceived contract demands in Detroit Lions linebacker Alex Anzalone has remained away from the team's voluntary offseason workouts thus far. The team captain is entering the final year of his contract (the deal voids for 2026) and the presumption is that Anzalone, who turns 31 in September, is looking for more money, more guaranteed money, or some combination of both to stay in Detroit. Anzalone's latest social media post is throwing gasoline onto that smoldering situation, one that head coach Dan Campbell stated last week didn't concern him at all. The Instagram post shows Anzalone working out away from the team and looking impressive physically. Anzalone makes no mention at all of the Lions in the extended video clip, nor does he refer to Detroit in his simple comment, "In life, you have options. Which will you choose?" Based on the comments to the clip, including one from Lions teammate Jahmyr Gibbs, it's abundantly clear that the masses believe Anzalone is referring to his perceived contractual squabble with the Lions in the video. Anzalone is under contract for $6 million in 2025, though none of that salary is guaranteed. Including his $100,000 roster bonus, Anzalone's total compensation is outside the top 25 LBs in the NFL for 2025. More: Lions OTA notebook and observations from Friday's practice session

Ex-Maryland officers plead guilty after staging car thefts to get insurance payouts

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. () — Two former Maryland officers recently pleaded guilty to federal charges relating to a years-long insurance fraud scheme. The U.S. Attorney's Office (USAO) said former Prince George's County Police Department (PGPD) officer 36-year-old Michael Anthony Owen, Jr. and former Anne Arundel County Police Department (AACPD) officer 31-year-old Jaron Earl Taylor admitted to being involved in a conspiracy to commit wire fraud. Between August 2018 and February 2020, Owen and Taylor worked with fellow police officers, Candace Tyler, Conrad D'Haiti and Davion Percy, among others, the USAO detailed. Man seen tearing down Dupont Circle Pride decorations; DC police investigating Members would report losses to auto insurers to obtain money or avoid paying off vehicles that were less than the amount owed to them, using their status as police officers to bolster each other's claims by writing fake police reports. Then, they submitted the police reports to insurers to validate the claim. In August 2018, the USAO said Owen and Taylor staged the theft of Taylor's Chevrolet Tahoe. After Taylor filed a fraudulent police report, reporting it as stolen, the two stripped the vehicle and drove it deep into the woods of a Maryland State Highway property near Largo. Once he filed a claim, the U.S. Automobile Association (USAA) paid Taylor more than $38,000 for the loss. Then, in January 2020, Owen reportedly helped D'Haiti avoid paying his loan balance on a Jaguar XKR. Working with him and Percy, Owen schemed to fake the car's theft. On Jan. 4 of that year, D'Haiti parked his car behind the Marlow Heights Shopping Center, where Percy worked as police chief. He paid Percy $350 to arrange for someone to tow the vehicle and 'extensively vandalize it for the purpose of creating a total insurance loss,' the USAO detailed. Tyler then filed a fake police report and D'Haiti filed a claim with Liberty Mutual Insurance. D'Haiti was paid $17,585 on the false claim. Trio accused of stealing over $30K in candles from Fairfax County retailers Also that month, Owen and Taylor helped a co-conspirator dispose of an Infiniti sedan so that they didn't have to make further payments on the vehicle while on duty overseas. The conspirator gave Taylor $1,000 to stage the theft. Taylor then forwarded the money to Owen, who filed another fake police report with PGPD, claiming the vehicle was stolen. In reality, the car had been moved to the top floor of an apartment complex's parking garage, replacing the car's license plates with ones from another vehicle. The stolen car claim the conspirators filed with GEICO was denied, however, on the grounds of fraud. Owen and Taylor pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud, for which Owen faces up to 20 years in prison and Taylor faces up to three years. Their sentences are both scheduled for Sept. 23. HGTV Star Jenny Marrs Reveals the Surprising Reason Her 15-Year-Old Sons Were Once ‘Kicked Out' of School

HGTV star Jenny Marrs has confessed that her now-teenage sons were once 'kicked out' of school after the 'Fixer to Fabulous' host made the decision to take them with her on a monthlong trip to Africa. Jenny, 46, made the candid admission in an Instagram post, revealing that her 15-year-old twins, Nathan and Ben, suffered a fierce blow to their early education when they were ejected from their former school shortly before entering the 2nd grade. Although Jenny and her family are based in Arkansas, she and her husband, Dave, maintain close ties to Africa, having done a great deal of nonprofit work in the country, while also adopting their daughter, Sylvie, now 13, from the Democratic Republic of Congo. The on-air starlet did not share the circumstances of the trip that took Nathan and Ben away from school for a month; however, the family's blog reveals that they all paid a visit to Zimbabwe for several weeks in early 2017, when they spent time volunteering at a local children's home. In her post—which has since been edited to remove the detail about her children's removal from their school—Jenny insisted that she has no regrets about the decision, writing that it gave the family the perfect opportunity to find a school where Nathan and Ben would be able to flourish in all the ways that really mattered 'I know I'm not the only mom who has prayed for their beloved babies to be surrounded by good friends as they grow,' she wrote alongside a video of her sons leaping from a rock face into water alongside several pals. 'I remember making the decision when the boys were entering 2nd grade to, after much prayer, move them (and their sister who was about to start kindergarten) to a new school.' In the original version of the post, which has since been edited, per TV Insider, the mother of five added: 'Granted, we had been kicked out of our old school because we spent a month in Africa during the middle of the year, but I regret nothing. They were little and it was the best thing for our family at the time.' That incident gave Jenny and her husband the time to figure out exactly what their priorities were when it came to picking a school for their kids, with the HGTV star explaining that they ultimately decided on a school where their children wouldn't be 'shuffled' around and could focus on building a community. 'We chose a school where they wouldn't be shuffled around year to year because of rezoning. We knew we wanted a steady group of kids who would be with them each year and we prioritized friendships over the 'best sports' or 'academics' or whatever other thing seems important these days,' she explained. The HGTV icon revealed that she was grateful she was able to 'watch' her sons 'play sports alongside and walk through life with their best buds.' 'Now that they're teens, I can honestly say there is no greater gift we can give our younger kids than the gift of friendships,' she continued. She then offered advice to other moms, suggesting, 'Young mommas: Pray for friends, foster those relationships with play dates and time together and sports and adventures. It isn't easy and it requires sacrifice but I can tell you that it's going to be worth it.' 'This year, my boys have both walked through deep heartache and these friends have walked with them and prayed for them and have showed up for them in ways that I never could have expected of 15 and 16 year old kids. 'Teens often have a bad reputation but I believe they were born for such a time as this. This next generation is brave and God is on the move in and through them,' she said at the end of the caption. Jenny and Dave tied the knot in 2005 and now share five kids: Nathan, Ben, Sylvie, Charlotte, 12, and Luke, 6. The family—who hails from Florida—moved to Bentonville, AR, and 'fell in love' with everything the town had to offer. 'We were just going to be here for a couple of years and go back to Florida. I think, like a lot of people do here, we came for a stint and realized how great a place it is. This is home,' Marrs told fans in 2018. She previously revealed in an Instagram post that their home underwent numerous renovations. 'During the remodel, we relocated the sink onto this wall and I can't tell you how much joy it brings me to look out at the animals in the pasture or watch the sun set over the horizon as I do the dishes,' she wrote. 'For a mundane task that truly never ends (with seven people, there are ALWAYS dishes to be washed), this view makes it fairly enjoyable.' 'Much like my new laundry room, this space is a necessary and functional part of our home that now makes me very happy. I'm truly thankful for all of these dishes and clothes to be washed as they are evidence that we have a home brimming with life and the people I treasure most in the world,' she revealed.
