Social media reacts to 2027 4-star quarterback Teddy Jarrard committing to Notre Dame
The Irish have the luxury of looking ahead, as its 2026 class is virtually full with twenty-six current commitments. There are now three verbals in the 2027 cycle, one each on offense, defense and special teams. It's a fantastic base to work off, and with the most important player checked off, Notre Dame's coach staff can now turn its focus to the other positions in the class.
It was a big development for the Irish, and social media acted accordingly. There were numerous post about how huge this was for Notre Dame, and check out the best reactions to Jarrard committing below.
Massive recruiting win
With Jarrard's commitment, there are now just a handful of top quarterbacks off the board in the 2027 cycle, which gives each of those teams, including Notre Dame a leg up no the remaining prospects in the class. The Irish were able to go into SEC enemy territory and pull out a recruiting win, which not many teams are able to do.
Jarrard's stock set to rise?
We've all seen plenty of recruits getting an SEC-bump, but there could be a significant rise in the rankings in the near future for Jarrard. He's done extremely well in the camp circuit this spring and summer, and many have taken notice.
Top-50 overall player according to Tom Lemming
One of the original recruiting guru's, Lemming has seen it all and if he says that Jarrad is a top-50 prospect, then most likely he is. While his current recruiting ranking doesn't reflect that, like Power said above, a significant jump could be in the works. Lemming gives a great breakdown of his skill set, and one that should be getting Notre Dame fans very excited.
An interesting comparison
I haven't gotten a chance to take a dive into Jarrard's film, which I will do tonight, but comparing him to CJ Carr is very interesting. We haven't seen any of the expected Irish starting quarterback at this level, but we are talking about a guy that should be starting in year-two in the program. I don't think many would be complaining if that was the case with Jarrard as well.
The gamble payed off for Notre Dame
Many, including myself, were concerned that Notre Dame had only offered two quarterback in 2027, but all of us worriers were proven wrong. You just need one to commit, and the Irish got a great one in Jarrard. Beating out multiple other College Football Playoff teams is icing on the cake.
The traits are elite
There is one thing that I've noticed when evaluating high school quarterback prospects is that if they are accurate at that level, they will be at the next. It's one of the hardest aspects of the position to teach, and if a player shows those traits early on, most likely they aren't going anywhere. Jarrard completing over 70% of his attempts at a sophomore is exceptional, and we can expect the same when he arrives in South Bend.
The moment Jarrard went Irish
A magical moment for Jarrard and Notre Dame, as the two matched up extremely well and will be together in the coming seasons. It's the culmination of many years of hard work, and the recruits should enjoy the moment, which is exactly what happened.

Alabama wide receiver named to preseason watch list for top college football award
Per an announcement Monday afternoon, Alabama Crimson Tide wide receiver Ryan Williams has been named to the preseason watch list for the 2025 Maxwell Award. The Maxwell Award is presented annually to the most outstanding player in college football, and is an honor that the Crimson Tide have received five times before. Those winners were A.J. McCarron (2013), Derrick Henry (2015), Tua Tagovailoa (2018), DeVonta Smith (2020), and Bryce Young (2021). A sophomore, Williams enters the 2025 season coming off a stellar freshman campaign in which he received honors such as First Team All-SEC and Freshman All-America. Across 13 games, Williams hauled in 48 receptions for 865 yards and eight touchdowns, while also rushing for 48 yards and two more scores. Williams also played a role on special teams, returning 12 punts for 120 yards, as well as two kicks for 14 yards. Oregon Ducks coach Dan Lanning breaks down reason for offseason meeting with Dabo Swinney
During Big Ten Media Days in Las Vegas last week, Oregon Ducks head coach Dan Lanning revealed that he spoke with Clemson Tigers head coach Dabo Swinney this offseason, citing discussions over the process of running a program — including how he developed his "Double Down" mantra heading into the 2025 season. On Monday, during Oregon's 2025 media day in Eugene, Lanning was asked to elaborate on the meeting and why it occurred. In essence, it was to pick the brain of a coach who has succeeded on the biggest stage. "Every year, I kind of challenge myself to find some people to touch base with, and he was kind enough to touch base back, you know," Lanning said. "So there's a lot of people who've done the game at a really high level that I want to go pick their brain." Lanning continued, breaking down the topics the two coaches discussed. "We really talked about all things. All things program, right?" Lanning said. "Not necessarily messaging, but all things organizationally, why he thought he was able to have some of the success that he's had over the years, and what separates some of his team. So I really appreciate his insight." Entering his fourth season at the helm for the Ducks, Lanning has quickly established himself as one of the top coaches in the country with three straight double-digit season win totals. Last season was his best work, as Oregon was ranked No. 1 in the country for the back half of the season, won a Big Ten title, and earned the top seed in the College Football Playoff. However, the season-ending Rose Bowl loss to the Ohio State Buckeyes stung for a team with national championship hopes. It doesn't get much better than asking Swinney for advice, who's 35th in all-time wins as a college football head coach, including two national titles in 2016 and 2018. With a new perspective and the ensuing inspiration for a new season motto, Lanning's meeting with Swinney should prove to be another building block towards the continued success of the Oregon program. Seven LSU football players earn preseason All-SEC honors at media days
Seven LSU football players made the AP's preseason All-SEC team, announced Friday. Whit Weeks leads the pack as a first-teamer. Garrett Nussmeier, Caden Durham, Aaron Anderson, Harold Perkins, Barion Brown and Zavion Thomas all earned second-team honors. Weeks led the team with 125 tackles, adding in 10 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks. He's poised for another strong season following a lower-body injury in the Kinder's Texas Bowl. Heading into his second season starting at quarterback, Nussmeier is gunning for the program's all-time passing mark, which currently stands at 9,115. Last year, he threw for 4,052 yards with 29 touchdowns. Durham is coming off an All-SEC freshman season. He picked up 1,013 total yards and averaged 9.3 yards per carry. Despite dealing with a lingering toe injury, he developed into a versatile weapon. As a sophomore, he'll be the Tigers' feature back to balance out an improved passing game. Anderson made the cut as a wide receiver. He returns as a veteran presence in Baton Rouge amongst a host of transfers and freshmen. The redshirt junior made 61 catches for 884 yards in 2024. Following an injury-plagued 2024, Perkins returns to lead a retooled defense alongside Weeks. The linebacker made 17 tackles through four games last year before sitting out. He'll bounce between linebacker and the STAR position in defensive coordinator Blake Baker's scheme in 2025. Brown and Thomas appeared on the team as return specialists. They'll look to take up important roles on the offense as receivers as well, but both are apart of LSU's renewed focus on special teams success.
