Son of Notre Dame alum Julius Jones expressed admiration for Teddy Jarrard

Could praise of QB lead to eventual commitment from Jones Jr.? A Notre Dame great's son has good things to say about Fighting Irish quarterback commit Teddy Jarrard. Julius Jones Jr., son of former Notre Dame running back Julius Jones, said this about Jarrard: "Notre Dame got a dog. Glad he gets the chance to play at the next level. A great QB like him at a school makes most WR heads turn." The elder Jones played in the NFL and was a star at Notre Dame, and Jones Jr., who is a four-star wide receiver, is being recruited heavily by the Irish. Jones Jr. is the number 66 overall player and number 14 receiver in his class. What a world it would be if the commitment of Jarrard is what gets Jones Jr. to commit to Notre Dame. 4-star QB Teddy Jarrard announces commitment

Four-star quarterback recruit Teddy Jarrard has committed to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish over the Georgia Bulldogs, Ohio State Buckeyes, Michigan Wolverines and Penn State Nittany Lions. Jarrard is Notre Dame's third commitment in the class of 2027. The Fighting Irish have the No. 11 recruiting class in the 2027 cycle, but we're still over a year away from the early signing period for 2027 recruits. Jarrard plays both high school football and baseball. In 2025, he transferred to North Cobb High School in Kennesaw, Georgia, from North Cobb Christian. Jarrard is the second-ranked quarterback in Georgia in the class of 2027 behind only Lowndes QB Jayce Johnson. Jarrard has a big arm and is capable of connecting on deep passes. He is more of a pocket passer, but will extend plays to give his receivers more time to get open. He does a good job of keeping his eye downfield when scrambling. The 6-foot-3, 190-pound passer has tough and layers throws. He does not always fire bullet passes to his receivers. The North Cobb star is the No. 162 prospect in the nation and the No. 14 QB, per the 247Sports Composite. Jarrard is the No. 23 recruit in Georgia and has steadily risen in the recruiting rankings. The new Notre Dame commit is the No. 52 player in the country and the second ranked quarterback in the Rivals300. In 2024, Jarrard was named as the offensive player of the year with North Cobb Christian and helped his team go 11-2. He totaled 2,783 passing yards and 34 touchdowns in 2024. He also completed an impressive 72% of his passes, which showcases his accuracy.

Social media reacts to 2027 4-star quarterback Teddy Jarrard committing to Notre Dame

Notre Dame football got a commitment from its quarterback of the future on Thursday afternoon, as 2027 Georgia 4-star Teddy Jarrard opted for the Blue and Gold. The Irish have the luxury of looking ahead, as its 2026 class is virtually full with twenty-six current commitments. There are now three verbals in the 2027 cycle, one each on offense, defense and special teams. It's a fantastic base to work off, and with the most important player checked off, Notre Dame's coach staff can now turn its focus to the other positions in the class. It was a big development for the Irish, and social media acted accordingly. There were numerous post about how huge this was for Notre Dame, and check out the best reactions to Jarrard committing below. Massive recruiting win With Jarrard's commitment, there are now just a handful of top quarterbacks off the board in the 2027 cycle, which gives each of those teams, including Notre Dame a leg up no the remaining prospects in the class. The Irish were able to go into SEC enemy territory and pull out a recruiting win, which not many teams are able to do. Jarrard's stock set to rise? We've all seen plenty of recruits getting an SEC-bump, but there could be a significant rise in the rankings in the near future for Jarrard. He's done extremely well in the camp circuit this spring and summer, and many have taken notice. Top-50 overall player according to Tom Lemming One of the original recruiting guru's, Lemming has seen it all and if he says that Jarrad is a top-50 prospect, then most likely he is. While his current recruiting ranking doesn't reflect that, like Power said above, a significant jump could be in the works. Lemming gives a great breakdown of his skill set, and one that should be getting Notre Dame fans very excited. An interesting comparison I haven't gotten a chance to take a dive into Jarrard's film, which I will do tonight, but comparing him to CJ Carr is very interesting. We haven't seen any of the expected Irish starting quarterback at this level, but we are talking about a guy that should be starting in year-two in the program. I don't think many would be complaining if that was the case with Jarrard as well. The gamble payed off for Notre Dame Many, including myself, were concerned that Notre Dame had only offered two quarterback in 2027, but all of us worriers were proven wrong. You just need one to commit, and the Irish got a great one in Jarrard. Beating out multiple other College Football Playoff teams is icing on the cake. The traits are elite There is one thing that I've noticed when evaluating high school quarterback prospects is that if they are accurate at that level, they will be at the next. It's one of the hardest aspects of the position to teach, and if a player shows those traits early on, most likely they aren't going anywhere. Jarrard completing over 70% of his attempts at a sophomore is exceptional, and we can expect the same when he arrives in South Bend. The moment Jarrard went Irish A magical moment for Jarrard and Notre Dame, as the two matched up extremely well and will be together in the coming seasons. It's the culmination of many years of hard work, and the recruits should enjoy the moment, which is exactly what happened. Notre Dame finds its 2027 quarterback, as 4-star Georgia prospect Teddy Jarrard commits

It is hard to find a hotter team recruiting than Notre Dame football at the moment, and on Thursday the good times kept rolling at 2027 Georgia quarterback Teddy Jarrard committed. The Irish beat out Georgia, Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State for the 6-foot, 3-inch and 190-pounder, adding the No. 195 overall prospect in the 247Sports Composite Rankings to its class. The Irish have made significant changes to the way they recruit since Marcus Freeman was elevated to head coach, and one of the biggest differences we have seen is the recruiting at the quarterback position. Jarrard is the latest to join the fold, as in the last few years we have seen CJ Carr, Kenny Minchey, Blake Hebert and soon to sign Noah Grubbs getting added to Notre Dame's roster. Over the next two years, the newest Irish quarterback commit will see an uptick in his high school competition after transferring to North Cobb in Kennesaw, a much tougher division. As a prospect, Jarrard has everything you are looking for, size, speed, arm strength and anticipation. He won the Rivals 5-star quarterback challenge last month, and could see a big jump in his ranking as he gets closer to his signing date. This was a massive recruiting win for Notre Dame and we are certainly excited to see Jarrard wearing the Blue and Gold in the future. 2027 QB Teddy Jarrard commits to Notre Dame over Georgia, Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State

When Notre Dame advanced to the College Football Playoff national championship, it created the kind of problem head coach Marcus Freeman welcomed. Spending most of January preparing for Ohio State meant the Irish coaching staff couldn't scour the country looking for its next quarterback. That put the Irish staff relatively behind when it came to assessing quarterbacks in the Class of 2027, as everybody else — other than Ohio State — got a jump on the next cycle. Advertisement Now, Notre Dame is officially caught up. On Thursday afternoon, four-star quarterback Teddy Jarrard committed to Notre Dame over finalists Georgia, Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State. The 6-foot-3, 190-pound prospect from Kennesaw, Ga., was one of just two quarterbacks offered by the Irish this summer, along with Peyton Houston from Shreveport, La. Notre Dame didn't make those offers until mid-June. Jarrard visited Notre Dame about two weeks before picking up that offer, as part of a busy summer that included visits to his other four finalists, along with LSU, Arkansas and Clemson. Jarrard also last month attended the Rivals Five-Star Challenge in Indianapolis, where he earned quarterback MVP honors while working with prospects a year older, including Notre Dame running back commitment Javian Osborne. That recruiting showcase offered some insight into where Jarrard might be headed in the national rankings, which remain inconclusive. After the Rivals event, Jarrard jumped to No. 52 overall, No. 5 among Georgia prospects and No. 2 among quarterbacks on the network. That's in contrast to 247 Sports, which has Jarrard as a three-star prospect, No. 18 among quarterbacks and No. 35 among prospects from Georgia. Jarrard still has two more years to prove where he really belongs in those rankings. He'll finish his high school career as a four-year starter, playing two seasons at North Cobb Christian before transferring to North Cobb High School. Last fall, Jarrard led North Cobb Christian to an 11-2 record while completing 222 of 323 passes for 2,762 yards and 31 touchdowns. Jarrard is Notre Dame's third commitment in the Class of 2027, following linebacker Ellis McGaskin (Mobile, Ala.) and long snapper Sean Kraft (Asheville, N.C.).
