James Bond star Rory Kinnear reveals extreme lengths the producers take to keep who will play the next 007 secret
The celebrated actor, who has played MI6 Chief of Staff Bill Tanner in four Bond films opposite Daniel Craig, has disclosed that scripts are being delivered by hand rather than emailed - a strict security measure introduced after the 2014 Sony Pictures hack that saw early drafts of Spectre leaked online.
'The script for James Bond is delivered by car,' Rory revealed on Jesse Tyler Ferguson's Dinner's On Me podcast. 'And if there are changes in the script, they are delivered by car.'
The unprecedented leak more than a decade ago not only contained major spoilers for Spectre, but also the projected budget of $300 million made the film one of the most expensive to be made at the time.
The cyber leak also contained celebrities' details and exchanges between executives slamming the ending, to have it rewritten multiple times.
Producers were forced to immediately scrap digital distribution. Since then, the franchise has become infamous for its cloak-and-dagger approach - even among its own cast.
Rory, 47, added of the script delivery strategy: 'They got burnt, so I understand why they do it.'
The Olivier award winner starred in Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, Spectre and No Time To Die, and is one of the longest-standing actors in the current Bond universe.
His comments come at a pivotal moment for Bond, as the franchise undergoes its most radical transformation in decades.
Amazon, which bought MGM in an $8.5billion deal, now holds the creative reins, and has appointed Dune director Denis Villeneuve to take charge of Bond 26.
The French-Canadian filmmaker, a self-confessed 'die-hard' Bond fan, promised to 'honour the tradition' of 007 while opening up the franchise 'to many new missions to come.'
He is joined by powerhouse producers Amy Pascal and David Heyman, with Eon's Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson still involved behind the scenes.
Casting, however, remains the hottest topic of conversation - and the race to replace Daniel Craig recently took a dramatic turn.
While Kick-Ass and 28 Years Later star Aaron Taylor-Johnson, 35, remains the bookies' favourite, a surprise new contender has emerged: 37-year-old Scott Rose-Marsh.
The relatively unknown British actor - whose credits include Wolves of War and Code of Silence - has leapt to eighth place on the Oddschecker leaderboard, overtaking heavyweights like Henry Cavill and Jack Lowden.
Despite his lack of blockbuster experience, Rose-Marsh's sudden rise has set tongues wagging in industry circles. Sources say Villeneuve is keen to cast an actor who can grow into the role, rather than one already saturated by franchise fame.
Tom Holland, Theo James, Aaron Pierre, Harris Dickinson, Jacob Elordi and James Norton also remain in the top ten, though insiders claim the director's shortlist has shifted several times since he took the reins earlier this summer.
Meanwhile, on the Bond girl front, Euphoria and Anyone But You star Sydney Sweeney is widely tipped for a lead role.
A source told The Sun: 'Sydney is the top name on the casting sheet for Bond. Denis believes she is hugely talented, as well as having an alluring appeal to younger generations — vital in modernising the franchise.'
Sydney, 27, is reportedly close friends with Villeneuve and is being considered for a central role in the upcoming film - potentially as a high-stakes MI6 agent or a powerful femme fatale to match 007 blow for blow.
Amazon is expected to officially unveil the cast later this year, with pre-production already underway and filming expected to begin in 2026.
The release date is currently pegged for late 2027, though that may change depending on location availability.
Bond purists were reportedly unsettled by news that filming may not take place in London due to a Central London ban next year.
According to insiders, Liverpool is now a frontrunner to double for the capital - a choice previously used in major franchises such as The Batman and Captain America.
A source said: 'This will no doubt irk Bond purists who already fear Amazon taking over the 007 franchise may lead to them making big changes. But Liverpool has become a well-known alternative to London for filmmakers. That doesn't necessarily mean the story is set there — but fans will spot it.'

Without hesitation as the whistle blows... The wit, wisdom and epitaph of a comic genius: CRAIG BROWN
When is a comedy not a comedy? Perhaps when it involves Radio 4's quiz show Just A Minute and the incomparable Kenneth Williams. As I explained on Tuesday, I am addicted to the website which offers complete transcripts of every episode of the show, dating back to the 1960s. On one episode, broadcast on January 20, 1976, Williams had to speak on the subject of 'When It Is My Go'. He used the topic to round on his fellow panellists. 'When it is my go,' he began, 'I should be allowed to get under way properly and not be interfered with by pygmy-like minutiae and rubbish from other people... 'Get out, you old gasbag!' and rudeness! Whereas I, used to the cloistered world, or groves of academe, as they are sometimes called, should proceed evenly and calmly through life on some vast panopoly. Silken gowns and beauty, noise. No ugly chants. No discord shall interrupt!' At this point, he accused his fellow panellists of failing to interrupt for sly reasons of their own. 'Oh, I realise I'm being set up rotten!' he continued. 'They've all just decided . . .' But then the whistle went: he had completed the minute, without hesitation, deviation or repetition. However, instead of being triumphant, he was wary, complaining. 'They just sat there with no intention of pressing their buttons… I could see what they were doing: give him enough rope and he'll hang himself!' Throughout his life as a comic, Kenneth Williams worried that audiences were laughing at him rather than with him. His diaries form a record of extravagant exhibitionism juxtaposed with intense self-loathing. They often seem to echo the philosopher Soren Kierkegaard, who wrote in his 1836 journal: 'I have just returned from a party of which I was the life and soul; wit poured from my lips, everyone laughed and admired me, but I went away – and wanted to shoot myself.' On another episode, Williams expatiated on the subject of 'Wellies'. 'The other use to which they could be put is shoved under a drainpipe and thus you collect water which in these times of emergency . . .' he began. A buzzer went. The actor Alfred Marks was challenging him. 'I don't know of many drainpipes that would take a full-sized welly,' said Marks. Williams erupted with what appeared to be genuine fury. 'I don't care what drainpipes you're familiar with, mate! You don't know anything about drainpipes! You've never been round my place! What a nerve! Sitting there pontificating about drainpipes! You know nothing about them! What do you know about plumbing! You couldn't even change a washer! 'Look at him! He's gone white! He sits there – what a nerve! You've interrupted one of our great pundits! I know more about plumbing than you've had hot dinners!' At this point, panellist Peter Jones interjected: 'You've touched on a very sensitive area there, Alfred!' 'How dare you!' retorted Williams. Another time, he was asked to speak on 'My Other Self'. 'It is the side of me few people ever see,' he said. 'I closely guard this private person because all of us do cherish some secret feeling which we feel, if it were to be betrayed… 'It was Emerson, I believe, who said we have as many personalities as we have friends. Mine consequently are varied and extraordinary. Many times, people say, 'Well, we saw a side of you we didn't know existed! How won-derful it was to have the curtain or the veil, as it were, lifted on your pro-cliv-ities!'' There were roars of laughter but, once again, the private man had unwittingly revealed his vulnerability. Williams did have many personalities: in his private diary he would often employ five or six entirely different styles of handwriting. And most of his personalities were tormented. In February 1976, asked to speak on 'My Epitaph', he quoted – or slightly misquoted – these lines from Gray's Elegy: Here rests his head upon the lap of Earth A youth to fortune and to fame well known And talent smiled upon his humble birth, But melancholy claimed him for her own.

Geri Horner celebrates with the Lionesses at Oasis' Wembley concert after the team won the women's Euros final
Geri Horner celebrated with the Lionesses as they attended Oasis' concert at Wembley Stadium on Wednesday after the team won the women's Euros final. The former Spice Girl, 52, joined Alex Greenwood, Hannah Hampton and Alessia Russo in the crowd the band's hotly-anticipated reunion. The team roared to victory in Sunday's match following a nail-biting game, which finished with an incredible 3-1 penalty shoot out win. Congratulating them on their win, Geri joined the girls for a photo before they took their seats for the gig. She captioned her Instagram post: 'They're home!' After a run of homecoming gigs in Manchester's Heaton Park, Oasis returned to London last week, where they will play five shows. Elsewhere, Geri has faced yet another blow when it was revealed her book company has racked up a huge £1million debt. It comes following the news her husband Christian was released from his operational duties as the boss of Red Bull one year after the scandal that engulfed him over texts he apparently sent to a female employee. According to a new publication Geri could now be facing her own troubles as her company Falcon Queen Productions has sunk further into the red. The Mirror reports, Geri had a deficit of £750,000 in the year ending August 2024, compared to a £276,000 the previous year. The singer released her children's books, Rosie Frost and the Falcon Queen and Rose Frost: Ice On Fire via the firm. However, her 'main company, Wonderful Productions, earned £2.16m in the 12 months to August last year.' Wonderful Productions was set up by Geri in 1997 at the height of the Spice Girls' fame and channels earnings from her career in music and other commercial deals. MailOnline has contacted Geri's representative for comment. Christian was released from his operational duties as the boss of Red Bull earlier this month. It ends the longest reign of Formula One team principals in the sport and comes a year after the scandal that engulfed him over texts he apparently sent to a female employee. Red Bull issued a statement confirming the news, reading: 'Red Bull has released Christian Horner from his operational duties with effect from today, Wednesday 9 July 2025, and has appointed Laurent Mekies as CEO of Red Bull Racing.' Horner's former Spice Girl wife Geri stood by her husband after the explosive accusations rocked the Formula One paddock last year. Horner has vehemently denied the claims. Screenshots of alleged WhatsApp messages between Horner and a Red Bull employee were leaked anonymously the day after a three-week investigation, carried out externally, cleared the 51-year-old of all allegations. Horner survived accusations of coercive behaviour towards his colleague – and was twice cleared in internal investigations of wrongdoing.

Love Island viewers are left shocked at the biggest divide in show's history as tensions reach breaking point just days before finale
Love Island viewers left shocked during Wednesday's episode as the girls proved the divide was still well and truly in place. Called the biggest divide in the show's history, the entire series has centred around the ongoing feud between the two groups of girls: Shakira, Toni and Yas versus Meg and Helena. The Islanders continued to take part in the tense Couple Goals challenge - but when the Islanders were asked 'Which couple are you most scared to give your honest opinion on?' shockwaves were sent through the Villa. Shakira and Harry chose Meg and Dejon, which did not go down well. 'I think if people were honest in the first place and told us to our faces instead of saying it constantly behind our back, it would be a different story,' Meg raged. Shakira responded: 'You throwing around the fake word is rich to be honest. I don't know why you keep acting like we're the best of mates in here. 'From day one, you were very standoffish with any girl that was posed as a threat.' 'I think you've called every single person in this Villa fake,' Meg bit back, to which Shakira said: 'No, I will never pretend to be your mate.' Meg interrupted 'You won't be my friend on the outside' before Shakira said: 'I will never speak to you on the outside. I honestly can't stand you sometimes.' But that wasn't all because when it comes to Meg and Dejon's turn to answer, both Meg and Blu become embroiled in a back and forth with Toni before Blu brands Toni a 'pick-me girl'. The chaos came just two episodes after Toni brought the girls around the firepit to try and bridge the divide and call a truce. But recent scenes have shown the divide is as strong as ever. Viewers said: 'The divide is actually insane… i'm sat here raging at my TV screen,'; 'I've watched love island since Series 1 and this series is hands down the most uncomfortable to watch. This girl divide is f****n awful. The smart ass comments thrown about, the sly digs, the ganging up on 1 girl…it's actually draining,'; 'The Great Villa Divide of 2025 is alive and well,'; 'I've never seen THIS strong of a divide in the villa before,'; 'so funny they had a whole convo about no more divide and now it's like even worse AHAHAHAH,'; 'So much for Tonie and Meg wanting to squash the divide between the girls .. It's gone further apart since their girls intervention the other night'. While others noted that they had never seen such a 'toxic' series, especially with the finale just days away. They wrote: 'I've never seen such a hostile final week omg these lot are about to start a world war… 'It's the final week and there's STILL drama??? this literally never happens,' 'The most toxic love island season ever,'; 'The most toxic love island season ever - they really hate each other and it will be awkward for them on the outside,'; Viewers said: 'The divide is actually insane… i'm sat here raging at my TV screen' 'This season is so toxic. The producers seem to be pushing harmful narratives but we will have confirmation when the winners are announced. That was an uncomfortable watch. Disgusting,'; 'Why are the cast so toxic with each other wtf never seen anything like this imagine the reunion,'; 'THIS IS THE MOST TOXIC SEASON OF LOVE ISLAND EVER.' The chaos of Wednesday's episode came just days after Toni pulled Meg to clear the air as she blamed the boys in the villa for the apparent divide between the girls. The US-native, 24, pulled her fellow islander, 25, to the fire as she confess that the believed the root of all their problems were the boys. As they sit down in the iconic villa, Toni tells her: 'What I think is the root of the divide, is really the boys.' To which Meg says: 'It's so stupid for us to argue over these little things.' While others noted that they had never seen such a 'toxic' series, especially with the finale just days away Toni adds: 'I know that we're all friends at the end of the day', that prompts Meg to say: 'I'm not going to hold any grudges against what you guys said. You know I love you.' The pair then decided to gather all of the girls over, too. Toni said: 'At the end of the day, we know we're all friends here. They're [the boys] the problem!' The girls all enjoy a group hug as they attempt to put all their previous issues a side.
