River Island's £35 'Taylor Swift' dress that was £85 matches new 'Showgirl' era
Taylor Swift fans have been thrilled today, August 12, after the hit Eras Tour star announced that her 12th studio album will be coming out soon. Talking on her boyfriend and his brother's popular podcast, New Heights, early this morning, at 12.12am, she said her new record is called The Life Of A Showgirl.
She kept the album cover hidden, and the rest of the artwork has yet to be revealed, but we know this upcoming 'Showgirl' era will have a colourful theme of orange and green. Taylor Swift's current profile picture on her social media accounts is a glittery orange padlock on top of a green background.
The official Taylor Swift store is already teasing fans with pre-orders, and the aesthetic features a warm, orange, autumnal glow with a hint of glitter. To mark the news of her upcoming album, numerous fashion retailers have dropped the price of their orange and green coloured garments. For instance, River Island has reduced the cost of several orange shirts, tops, dresses and shoes.
One particular piece of clothing perfectly matches Swift's glittery orange padlock, and it has dropped in price considerably. The high-street store's Orange Sequin Embellished Slip Midi Dress was £85, but it can now be purchased for just £35.
The dress features all-over sequins to create a glittery effect, much like the promotional art for 'TS12'. Its bright shade of orange is also a fantastic match. The slip dress finishes just above the ankles and includes a cowl neckline.
Sizes vary from a UK size six to a 16. The model wearing the Orange Sequin Embellished Slip Midi Dress in the pictures online teams the gown with black strappy heels, a thick gold bracelet and gold earrings.
If you are looking to match Taylor Swift's latest album, there are plenty of other orange and green items to consider besides River Island, such as this Never Fully Dressed sequin tank top co-ord that's available on ASOS for £79. New Look is selling this AX Paris Green Printed Slit Hem Maxi Dress for £48. Another option for something a bit different is this rose gold plated Philip Jones Padlock Necklace with Zircondia Crystals for £9.99.
If you like the look of River Island's £35 Orange Sequin Embellished Slip Midi Dress, it can be bought online and delivered to your door for an extra £4. However, delivery is free on orders over £65. There aren't any reviews for the dress on River Island's website, but for those keen for customer feedback, reading through reviews on Trustpilot may help.
On the website, one shopper who left a five-star review said: "Love River Island staff members and managers are so helpful and friendly l love their clothing and accessories brillant store hope the survive as the best shop on high street for great quality clothing shop nowhere else."
Another said: "River island shoes and clothes are true to size and I only shop from River Island. I shop from River island at least twice a month." A third put: "Great range of quality clothing. Sizing is accurate and store staff are always helpful. Love shopping here!"
However, some unimpressed shoppers left comments. One wrote: "Sizing is awful!!! I'm a size 10 normally so I ordered some high waisted shorts in a 10. Couldn't get them to do up at all!! Ordered a 12 and the exact same thing!! Went straight back."
A second said: "Products arrived in good order but I paid for a specific delivery day and this was not honoured." A third claimed: "I used to like River Island but the last couple of times I've ordered clothes they have been sent stuffed into bags that are too small for the items and have had strong smells."
But not all feedback is poor. Another pleased shopper said: "Overall, I'm loving shopping at River Island this season—great style, great service, great vibe." One more said: "I always have a positive experience in-store but have recently also used their online service and ordered to collect in store. The items arrived promptly and you can return easily to the store. Really pleased."

M&S shoppers praise 'versatile' suede jacket that 'goes with anything'
With customers calling this piece 'very flattering', it's one to grab before it sells out I've seen suede jackets everywhere lately. I grabbed a Stradivarius style earlier in the summer, but it quickly sold out. Luckily, I've found a near-identical version at M&S with rave reviews. The Suedette Lightweight Jacket (£59) has a solid 4-9-star rating from more than 180 shoppers. Made from soft faux suede, it's cut in a regular fit with a neat collar and button fastenings - the kind of versatile shape that works with pretty much anything. I've worn my version with everything from relaxed wide-leg jeans to a brown mini skirt. But it would also work with a knit dress and ankle boots for a cosy autumn look. Lisa Snowdon loves this hair serum that's 'must have for hair loss' now 20% off The new ghd curling range provides 'all-day hold' and leaves hair 'shiny and smooth' Otherwise, it'll look chic with tailored trousers and loafers for a smart, 70s-inspired office look. And for in-between weather days, it'll go great with a white T-shirt and denim shorts. As mentioned, suede jackets are everywhere, so there are lots of options. This Mint Velvet piece is expensive at £285, but it's a timeless design that's available in four colours. Shop the look £59 M&S Buy Now on M&S Product Description Alternatively, New Look's Suede Biker Jacket (£45.99) is selling fast. This happy reviewer said: "Beautiful jacket, it's such a bargain in the sale, although I think I'd be happy to pay full price. It could be worn casually or for an evening event." Back to M&S, the majority of shoppers love this Suedette Lightweight Jacket. One person said: "Great versatile jacket. You can dress it up or down as it goes with lots of things." A second fan chimed in: "Beautiful jacket, gorgeous colour and very flattering, goes with anything, super versatile, would recommend buying." But it isn't all good news. This three-star review reads: "Some kind of pocket would have been good for a phone." And someone else noted: "Lovely product, but the medium was very small and the large swamped me." On a more positive note, this M&S customer piped up: "I love everything about this jacket, particularly the colour and length! I would definitely recommend. It's a great buy." And this user added: "Delighted with my new jacket. Smart but casual. Looks great yet easy to wear over dresses or trousers."
