Hema Committee report
— a document submitted over five years ago to address systemic issues faced by women in the Malayalam film industry.
In a strongly worded Instagram story, the acclaimed actor expressed frustration at the lack of progress and directly questioned Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on the current status of the report's implementation.

Highlighting the prolonged inaction, Parvathy wrote, 'Now can we focus on the ACTUAL reason this committee was formed? Putting policies in place to help make regulations in the industry?' She followed it with a sarcastic jab, stating, 'No need to rush as it's ONLY been 5 and a half years since the report was submitted.'
Her remarks come amid reports that the Special Investigation Team (SIT), which was probing matters linked to the committee's findings, may be preparing to close some of the cases — though no official confirmation has been made.

Parvathy's comments echo the sentiment of many in the film fraternity who believe the core purpose of the Hema Committee has been sidelined. 'Census delay no accident, delimitation not a coincidence', says Stalin
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) president MK Stalin on Friday accused the BJP-led central government of deliberately delaying the national Census and orchestrating the delimitation process with a hidden agenda. Calling the Census delay 'no accident' and the delimitation exercise 'no coincidence,' he said, 'The danger I warned of is at our doorstep.' In a post on social media, he alleged: 'There is a sinister design in how the BJP-led Union Government is implementing the national Census and the subsequent delimitation. Developed states, especially in the non-Hindi speaking South, which followed population control norms, will now be punished.' He argued that states which disregarded population control for years would be rewarded with additional seats in Parliament. This, he said, distorts the federal structure and unfairly benefits neglect over progress. Stalin noted that he had already 'warned about this design' and cited senior Congress leader P Chidambaram's detailed explanation of 'how this sleight of hand is unfolding.' He said it was time to remain vigilant and prepare strategies to defend the South's representation. 'The 2027 Census will form the basis for the next delimitation, replacing the 1971 data. This gives the Union BJP government the means to restructure parliamentary representation to its advantage, at the cost of the southern states,' he alleged. While the Ministry of Home Affairs has stated that the concerns of affected states will be considered, Stalin described such assurances as vague. He insisted that the situation calls for a clear commitment in Parliament and the introduction of a Constitutional amendment. He added: 'Just look at what happened after Article 370 was abrogated. The Union government spoke of restoring statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. Elections were held. Assurances were given in the Supreme Court. Yet, Jammu and Kashmir remains a Union Territory. This is the track record of BJP we are dealing with.' Stalin warned that if delimitation is carried out using the 2027 Census, the democratic influence of the southern states would be severely diminished. He also criticised the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), saying, 'Betrayers like the AIADMK choose to kneel before the BJP for their political survival,' but that the people of Tamil Nadu, under the DMK's leadership, would not allow the state to suffer for its developmental success.

Housefull 5 Box Office Collection day 1: Decent start for Akshay Kumar's film, crosses ₹13 crore on opening day
Housefull 5 Box Office Collection day 1: The much-awaited film, Housefull 5, starring Akshay Kumar and his gang released in cinema on Friday. Off to a decent start, the murder mystery has crossed ₹ 13 crore at the box office. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Housefull 5 has so far minted ₹ 13.81 crore. However, these are the real-time updates from morning and afternoon. The final figures will be out after 10 pm. If the film maintains similar momentum during the evening and night shows, its total earnings could potentially double by the end of the day. Housefull 5 had an overall 20.93% Occupancy on Friday in 2D format. The 3D format saw an occupancy of 10.76% on June 06, 2025. Cities like Mumbai, Delhi NCR and Ahmedabad had the highest occupancy with the highest number of screenings for the film in all formats. Following closely is Pune, Bengaluru and Surat on the list. Overall, the film has done better business than expected. Going by its advance sales booking, the film was set to premiere with ₹ ₹ 6.87 crore gross earnings (including the blocked seats). Housefull 5 is clashing with the Hindi version of Kamal Haasan's Thug Life which was released a day ahead of Housefull 6. Thug Life, however, has received an underwhelming response. On the other hand, both the films are also clashing with Maddock Films' Bhool Chuk Maaf, starring Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi. Senior India batter Rohit Sharma has revealed that his father, Gurunath, was happy but also 'a little disappointed' when he announced his Test retirement last month. Rohit explained that Gurunath has always appreciated red-ball cricket more than ODIs and T20s, and the longest format has always made him more excited — a love that has only gotten stronger seeing his son go up the ranks to the highest level of the sport. Rohit called off his Test career in the first week of May via an announcement on his Instagram story. Only hours before his decision was made public, reports came through claiming that the BCCI selectors had decided to remove him from Test captaincy ahead of the upcoming five-match series against England in the summer. 'My father has seen me playing a lot of cricket with red ball, obviously," Rohit said at the launch of Cheteshwar Pujara's wife Puja Pujara's book 'The Diary of a Cricketer's Wife' in Mumbai. 'So he appreciates red ball cricket a lot. And then, obviously, he was a little disappointed when I announced my retirement. But was happy as well at the same time. But, yeah, that's my father. And he has obviously played a huge role in wherever I am today. Without their help, it never would have been possible," he added. Rohit revealed that his father was even happier with his cameos in Test cricket than his world-record 264 in an ODI against Sri Lanka in November 2014. 'My father worked in a transport company. Like I said, what my mom did, my father was very much involved in sacrificing things so that we could have our life. But my father always, since day one, has been a fan of Test cricket. He doesn't like this new-age cricket. I still remember that day I scored 264 in the ODI. He was like, okay, well played. Well done. There was no excitement from him. It's important to go out there and all that. But even if I used to get good 30s or 40s or 50s or 60s, in Test cricket used to talk to me about it in detail. So that's the kind of love he had for the game," he added. Rohit retired with 4301 runs from 67 Tests.
