Woman in Kajang rampage stressed, unhappy with life in Malaysia, say cops

PETALING JAYA: A foreign woman who crashed into three motorcycles and attacked several people with a knife at a traffic light intersection in Kajang yesterday was reportedly stressed by life in Malaysia and unhappy with her treatment while studying in the country. Kajang police chief Naazron Yusof said the 24-year-old, a student at a public university, had been remanded for seven days until Aug 20. 'So far, statements have been taken from 11 witnesses, including the victims,' he said in a statement today. 'Two victims who were hospitalised are in stable condition and remain under observation.' The incident occurred at 11.58am when the woman, driving a car in a reckless manner, rammed into three motorcycles at a traffic light junction before getting out with a knife and attacking members of the public. LAHAD DATU: The Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) foiled crude palm oil (CPO) misappropriation in two raids at different locations, here, on Thursday. Esscom Commander DCP Datuk Victor Sanjos said a total of 74 metric tonnes of CPO, two trucks and various equipment used to carry out the activity were seized. 'Acting on public tip-off, a team raided the premises in Jalan POIC and a private plantation in Jalan Segama Lama, and seized CPO, trucks and equipment worth a total of RM476,000. 'Two local men in their 30s and 40s were also arrested during the raids,' he said. The cases are being investigated under the Regulation 5(1)(b) of Malaysian Palm Oil Board Regulations 2005. Victor said the raids reflected Esscom's continuous efforts in combating criminal and illegal activities in Esszone, especially smuggling and misappropriation of controlled and subsidised items, which can affect the local economy. He added that Esscom will continue to intensify integrated operations in Esszone to curb cross-border crimes that threaten public safety and well-being. Worker drowns near Kudat, two others rescued

KUDAT: A sand tugboat worker died after falling overboard near Pantai Bangau, Sikuati, on Thursday. Mohd Azman Idris, 31, is believed to have fallen while reconnecting a snapped anchor rope in rough seas. Kudat Fire and Rescue Station Chief Darickson Galanang said 12 personnel, led by PBK II Rasidi Sadai, were dispatched to the scene located 39km away after receiving a distress call at 4.46pm. The team mobilised a fire engine, an EMRS unit and a utility vehicle for the rescue operation. 'The distress call came from a worker of Syarikat Kibing Sikuati, reporting that three crew members had been swept away by strong currents,' he said. Two co-workers, Muhammad Haseef Abdul Rahman, 29, and Aidil Adman Said, 49, had jumped into the sea to rescue Azman but were unable to return to the vessel due to the rough waves. All three were later pulled to shore by firefighters, but Azman was confirmed dead at the scene by Health Ministry personnel. TikTok account probed for unverified content on Zara's case
Police are investigating a TikTok account suspected of posting inaccurate and unverified content about the death of Form One student Zara Qairina Mahathir, which has caused concern in the community. Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director M Kumar said the investigation is being conducted under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948, Section 505(b) of the Penal Code, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
