ALBAWABA- In a dramatic shift, Sudan has severed diplomatic relations with the United Arab Emirates and formally designated it an 'aggressive state,' accusing Abu Dhabi of undermining Sudanese sovereignty.
The decision was announced by the Security and Defense Council, which also invoked Article 51 of the UN Charter to affirm Sudan's right to defend itself by all means necessary.

Sudan's government has ordered the closure of its embassy and consulate in the UAE and emphasized that the move aligns with the demands of the Sudanese people.
Information Minister Khaled Al-Aiser stated that Sudan had long acted with restraint out of respect for historic ties, but the UAE ignored these considerations, appearing to act on behalf of foreign interests.

Al-Aiser dismissed reports of an ongoing Emirati diplomatic presence in Port Sudan as misinformation, stating there has been no such activity since the UAE ambassador's infiltration incident over a year ago.
He also noted that Sky News Arabia has not operated in Sudan for more than 18 months and accused disinformation networks of fueling false narratives to serve militia agendas.
Sudan, he clarified, only maintained a limited consular presence in the UAE to assist Sudanese nationals.

Islamist group claims responsibility for Syria fire

Published July 7th, 2025 - 06:25 GMT ALBAWABA - Members of the Islamist group "Saraya Ansar al-Sunna" claimed responsibility for the massive fires that have swept through Syria's coastal mountains for the past four days. In a statement posted on their Telegram account, the group said, "The fighters of Saraya Ansar al-Sunna set fire to the Qastal Mountains in the Latakia countryside on the 3rd of Muharram." The statement added that "the fires spread to other areas, forcing residents of some villages in the Latakia countryside to flee their homes, and a number of them suffered from suffocation." وزير الطوارئ والكوارث في سوريا "رائد الصالح عند الطوارئ و الكوارث يصبح عنصر من عناصر الدفاع المدني السوري ويشارك في أطفاء الحرائق هكذا نريد ان يكونوا جميعاً مع الشعب — عمر مدنيه (@Omar_Madaniah) July 6, 2025 It's worth noting that Ansar al-Sunna mercenaries previously claimed responsibility for the bombing of the Saint Elias Church in al-Duwaileh, Damascus. For days, the northern Latakia countryside has been witnessing uncontrollable fires that have swept through vast areas of forests, with firefighters and residents struggling to control them. The fires, which have been raging since July 3, have cut off the international highway between Latakia and Turkey, and have put power plants out of service due to the intensity of the fires and the dense smoke. Jordan's Armed Forces sent two Black Hawk helicopters from the Royal Jordanian Air Force, equipped with specialized crews and advanced technical equipment, to help control the fires and limit their spread, protecting lives and property. Turkey also sent firefighters to help Syria extinguish the fire that erupted in the coastal area. © 2000 - 2025 Al Bawaba (
