Packers to open 2025 training camp on Wednesday, July 23
The Green Bay Packers will open training camp in 2025 on Wednesday, July 23, the team announced Wednesday.
Two dates are set for training camp -- the start, on Wednesday, July 23, and Family Night, on Saturday, Aug. 2 -- but the rest is still being finalized and will be released at a later date. Last year, the Packers announced training camp dates on June 17, and the team's annual shareholder's meeting lined up with the first practice.
The Packers have two joint practices and three preseason games on the 2025 schedule. Matt LaFleur's team will go to Indianapolis to have a joint practice with the Broncos and then host the Seattle Seahawks for a joint practice before the preseason finale. In 2024, the Packers had 18 public practices, including joint practices and Family Night.
The Packers still have a few portions of the offseason workout program to get through first. The team has OTAs over the next two weeks before a mandatory three-day minicamp running June 10-12.
In 2023, the Packers reported for training camp on Tuesday, July 25 and held their first practice on Wednesday, July 26. Last year, the Packers held their first practice on Monday, July 22 -- an earlier start because Green Bay opened the season on the Friday night of Week 1.

Now that Aaron Rodgers has officially joined the Pittsburgh Steelers, it's time to prepare for their Week 8 matchup with Rodgers' former team, the Green Bay Packers.

Now that Aaron Rodgers has officially joined the Pittsburgh Steelers, it's time to prepare for their Week 8 matchup with Rodgers' former team, the Green Bay Packers. originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Super Bowl-winning quarterback Aaron Rodgers has joined his third team in his over two decades of football greatness. Advertisement While the four-time MVP has some work to do to drain out the many sorrows that plagued his time with the New York Jets over the last two seasons, Rodgers will forever be remembered as one of the greatest talents and most accomplished players of his generation. Most of that storied lore comes from his time with the Green Bay Packers, having been the team for his first 18 seasons. Now that Rodgers has officially joined the Pittsburgh Steelers, there is one game on the upcoming calendar that the star QB likely has circled in red: Week 8, when the Packers come to town. "A-Rod" has beaten all 31 other teams at least once as an opposition - Green Bay being the only exception. Advertisement Only four players have ever beaten all 32 NFL teams at least once throughout their career: Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Brett Favre and Drew Brees. Rodgers could be next, but regardless of the outcome of the game, it is sure to be an emotional one. It will mark the first time Rodgers has ever played against the franchise that he became a star with. "There's a lot of love for me and how I feel about the team," Rodgers said about the Packers in a podcast appearance. He was asked about the possibility, whenever the 41 year old decides to call it a career, if he would ever sign a one-day contract to officially retire as a Packer. While his response was very Rodgers-esque in it's dry nature, it appears the future Hall of Famer still has some appreciation for the organization. Advertisement 'If I do or don't retire as a Packer, I don't think it should make a difference. I'm not sure yet. If they approached me about it, I probably would." During his 15 years as the Packers' starting quarterback after taking over for Favre in 2008, Rodgers won four regular season MVPs, Super Bowl XLV MVP, earned four First-Team All-Pro honors, and was selected to ten Pro Bowls. The Steelers' Week 8 matchup with the Packers will take place in Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh on Oct. 26 and be broadcasted live on Sunday Night Football. That includes the American Family Insurance Championship, the annual stop on the PGA Tour Champions circuit hosted by state legend Steve Stricker, which runs this weekend in Madison. But there is a lot different about the tournament this year. Here's what to know: When is the 2025 AmFam Championship? June 6-8. What course is hosting the AmFam Championship? Here's a big change. After being at University Ridge for its first eight years, the tournament is moving to TPC Wisconsin, a course that was co-designed by Stricker. What is the format this year? Also a big change. For the first time in a Champions tour event, there will be a team format. The field has 38 two-man teams. Friday and Sunday will be a best-ball competitio s, switching to a scramble in the second round on Saturday. Are Jerry Kelly and Steve Stricker playing again this year? You betcha. The two most prominent pro golfers from Wisconsin are in the field, but they aren't paired together. Kelly will play with Justin Leonard, while Stricker's partner is brother-in-law Mario Tiziani. Who's leading the 2025 AmFam Championship? The duo of Thomas Bjorn and Darren Clarke teamed up for a12-under 59 on Friday and lead by two over the Aussie duo of Richard Green and Mark Hensby. Stricker and Tiziani are tied for ninth after a 7-under 64. What is the prize money? The purse is $3 million. The winning team will share $600,000. Will the tournament be on TV? John Daly? Ernie Els? Fred Couples? Yes, perennial crowd favorite John Daly will be in Madison. Els and Couples will be, too. They are among five former No. 1 golfers in the world in the field, along with Bernhard Langer, Vijay Singh and David Duval. Has Steve Stricker ever won his own event? Yes, after several near-misses, Stricker broke through in 2023. Kelly won back-to-back titles in 2019 and 2021 (there was no 2020 event because of the COVID-19 pandemic). Els won last year in a thrilling playoff with Stricker. Other past winners include Thongchai Jaidee (2022), Scott McCarron (2018), Couples (2017) and Kirk Triplett (2016). Who is in the celebrity foursome this year? Two-time U.S. Open champion Andy North will be joined in the annual celebrity foursome by Hall of Famer and former Green Bay Packers great Charles Woodson, two-time Olympic gold medalist and two-time World Cup champion Mia Hamm and 2020 NFL rookie of the year Justin Herbert, quarterback for the Los Angeles Chargers. The quartet will play a nine-hole exhibition beginning about 2 p.m. on Satuday off the first tee following the final groups of the PGA Tour Champions
