Top darts star reveals tactic to deal with opponents FARTING on stage after player's blow-off caused match to be stopped

The darts star spoke about the issue following another "fartgate" incident involving James Wade at the Players Championship 19. Snakebite appeared distracted when the scent hit his nose, as he had to "take a second" before throwing. Van den Bergh, 30, is already prepared to deal with his rivals who dare to let one rip on the stage. The Belgian ace believes the best thing to do is to try to ignore it and "breathe quicker". I make sure whatever I could do, it happened already at the toilet. "Sometimes you've just got to accept it, at the end of the day, it's only a smell. "Breathe quicker and it's gone." Van den Bergh's comments come after he decided to step away from the PDC Pro Tour. World Darts semi-finalist Dimitri Van Den Bergh retires from PDC tour aged just 30 The Antwerp thrower made the decision in April as he wanted a mental reset. He did make his return to the oche at the World Cup of Darts as he represented Belgium alongside Mike De Decker. The tournament was a disaster as the pair finished behind the Philippines in the Group Stage in Frankfurt, Germany. Van den Bergh has insisted that the time away from the oche has been beneficial to him. He said: "Fantastic, because I was feeling really bad with myself, with my body, my mental health. "(For) ten years I have done all the tournaments that I possibly could and I just kept pushing. I kept going forward. "In these ten years a lot of things have happened. I'm going to be a dad in July, my second little girl is going to come to the world. "I'm already a dad from another kid who's three-and-a-half-years-old now. "All of that just gives you a different perspective to life and my dreams have always been to do what I love most, which is play darts and be successful at it. "But I also wanted to have my own family and build a future, build a legacy. So these things were very important to me and I just tried to keep playing well but for some reason I was just tiptoeing at the same place. "So I said, 'I'll take a step back, come back stronger' and that's still my goal. That's still my mission. "I know whatever I'm doing at home with eating healthy, going to the gym, taking care of myself, practicing a lot, it's working for me. Plus, I've got extra time with the family."

SPY WHO 40-LOVED ME I was starring at Wimbledon when I got an audition to be the next James Bond.. but my wife didn't want to be a Bond girl Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) WIMBLEDON hero Roger Taylor was in the running to succeed Sean Connery as James Bond — until his wife turned down his key swimwear audition. Sheffield-born Taylor, 83, made three Wimbledon semi-finals, in 1967, 1970 and 1973, and was the nation's favourite tennis underdog before Tim Henman came along. Connery, who died in 2020 aged 90, launched the spy film franchise series with Dr. No in 1962 but stood down from the role five years later. Handsome, 6ft, left-hander Taylor's appearance in the 1967 Queen's final gained a lot of 'interest from Hollywood'. Noel Berryman, the vice-chairman of Queen's Club, claimed the wife of scriptwriter Richard Maybourne had watched that final and proclaimed to her husband: 'There's your new James Bond.' Writing in his new autobiography, The Man Who Saved Wimbledon, Taylor recalled: 'I assumed this was some kind of a wind-up. 'Noel insisted he was deadly serious and asked if I'd be interested in meeting some of the money men at their offices in Park Lane to talk about the project. 'My wife Frances started laughing, saying the whole thing was ridiculous. 'But I was keen to explore the options despite never having set foot on a stage before or done any acting. 'Sunday came around and we headed into town. Former Wimbledon champion resurfaces in viral ad with Rafael Nadal three years after bombshell retirement 4 Taylor, right, has released a book about his efforts to win Wimbledon 'I was in a state of conflict: excited, nervous and also worried that my attention was being taken away from Wimbledon. We arrived and I was shepherded into a room full of men. 'Two of these moguls had huge cigars and they all stared at me without saying a word... not one word. 'They kept staring, making me feel incredibly self-conscious! And that was it. 'I never even had a chance to tell them 'I'm Bond, James Bond, don't you know' before the meeting ended and then I headed back to Wimbledon.' As the tournament progressed, Berryman informed Taylor he had done enough to secure a second test at Pinewood Studios — but 'could I bring my swimsuit!' Taylor, who is now married to his second wife Alison, said: 'At which point Frances became very irate. She's a Scottish Baptist and clearly didn't fancy becoming a Bond girl. 'I'm often asked how much I regret not making more of the opportunity and still laugh at some of the reports from those days which referred to me as the James Bond of tennis.' Bond bosses went for Aussie model George Lazenby. Yorkshireman Taylor, who has incurable amyloidosis, added: 'A few years on, I was in California, sitting at a bar. Next to me was a guy who looked like a broken man. Very much the worse for wear. It was Lazenby! 'I wondered if maybe I'd had a lucky escape after all. 'That said, every time I watch a Bond movie there's a little bit of me that wonders what if? And I did perfect the 'Bond, James Bond' line, you know.' The Man Who Saved Wimbledon — Roger Taylor's official biography, published by Pitch Publishing, £25, is out June 30.
