Korean actor Song Young-kyu passes away after drunk driving scandal

Photo Inside Page Actor Song Young-kyu, who recently faced public backlash over a drunk driving charge, has passed away unexpectedly. According to MBN, the Korean actor was found lifeless inside a vehicle in Cheoin District, Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, around 8 a.m. He was discovered by an acquaintance, who immediately alerted authorities. Police reported no signs of foul play and stated that no note was found at the scene. Authorities responded to a report and are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding his death. On June 19, Song was caught driving under the influence for approximately 5 kilometers in Giheung District, Yongin. A witness report led police to the scene, where his blood alcohol concentration was measured at over 0.08%, a level warranting license revocation. The incident was revealed a month later, resulting in Song stepping down from the dramas Tri and The Defects, as well as the stage play Shakespeare in Love. His sudden passing, without a public apology or statement, has left many with mixed emotions and a sense of unresolved sorrow. His wife and two daughters survive him. The funeral service will be held at 8 a.m. on the Aug. 6, and his final resting place will be Hambeoksan Memorial Park.
