Peppa Pig fans left 'screaming' after only now discovering the iconic hog's real name - ahead of the birth of her new piglet sibling
Peppa Pig fans have been left 'screaming' after only now discovering the iconic cartoon character's real name, despite her having been on TV for a whopping 21-years.
As excitement builds for the birth of the swine's baby sister, following a huge gender reveal, fans have learned that Peppa is in fact the swine's middle name.
With her full name being: Pepperius Peppa Pig, as reported by Good Find Toys.
Many have been left gobsmacked by the revelation and took to X writing: 'Peppa Pig's real name being Pepperius Peppa Pig is making me scream!'.
'DID YOU KNOW "Peppa" is Peppa Pig's middle name and her full name is Pepperius Peppa Pig': 'Do you know Peppa Pig's real name? it's actually Papperius Peppa Pig!': 'Peppa Pigs full name is Pepperius Peppa Pig. You learn something new every day'.
It comes after fans were left squealing with delight after a huge gender reveal party at London's Battersea Power Station announced the family were expecting a girl.
Mummy Pig, whose job involves doing 'very important work' on her computer, and her husband Daddy Pig, who 'takes big numbers, transmutes them and calculates their load-bearing tangents', first announced their surprise pregnancy in February.
Good Morning Britain 's showbiz correspondent Richard Arnold landed the exclusive, as Mummy Pig showed off her ultrasound and baby bump and revealed she was due in the summer.
The global smash hit cartoon celebrated the gender reveal news with a VIP party at the world's first-ever permanent Peppa Pig store at Battersea on Friday, featuring fundraising in support of NCT, the UK's leading charity for pregnancy and parents.
NCT (National Children's Trust) was announced earlier this month as the official 'Pregnancy and Parenting Charity Partner' for Peppa Pig in the UK.
And the excitement doesn't stop there as fans can join the Pig family on the big screen with Peppa Meets the Baby, a brand-new cinema experience launching May 30 in over 2,600 cinemas across 19 countries.
The hour-long, song-filled screening features 10 brand-new episodes, as Peppa and George prepare for the arrival of their baby sister.
In addition, the gender reveal episode will air on YouTube on May 3 as part of the Peppa Pig Tales series.
Speaking to Grazia magazine about her pregnancy, Mummy Pig revealed she and Daddy Pig had 'so many ideas' for baby names.
They wrote: 'Peppa Pig's real name being Pepperius Peppa Pig is making me scream!'
She revealed: 'Too many, frankly! Oink! Knowing it's a girl has narrowed our options down a bit – I'm not sure Peter, Percy or Patrick Pig really work as girls' names! But it's too difficult to choose now.
'When she's here and looking up at me and Daddy Pig, we'll just know the perfect name. That's what we did when Peppa and George were born.'
Peppa Pig first aired in 2004 and has since been broadcast in 180 territories and translated into 40 languages. It's spawned books, toys and even two theme parks, with the global Peppa empire now worth over £1billion.
Creators Neville Astley and Mark Baker admitted they were worried the idea would never get off the ground, and that people were initially bored with the idea.
People in the pub would ask us, 'What are you drawing?' We'd say, 'A pig, called Peppa, it's going to be big.' They'd lose interest and wander off', explained Astley.
The pair created Peppa and her family while working in each other's houses or at the local pub.
They told the Radio Times they were inspired by 1970s and 1980s cartoon classics including Roobarb and Pingu, after realising that children 'like stories about animals'.
'We'd made this little trailer for Peppa but hadn't got anywhere,' recalled Baker.
'It's very difficult to sell your own creative work. The good thing about Phil is he's quite thick-skinned.'
They soon found an energetic little girl, Lily Snowden-Fine, to voice Peppa - despite her being only four years old and unable to read, instead repeating lines spoken by her mother.
When her family moved to Canada, the job went to Cecily Bloom. She was followed by Harley Bird. The current voice of Peppa is Amelie Bea Smith.
The creators explained that the secret to Peppa's long-lasting appeal is the show's simplicity, as well as ensuring the piglet is never the butt of the jokes.
'We put a lot of work into making everything look as effortless as possible,' said Baker.
'We can laugh at the adults, but children don't like it if we laugh at the children in the show.'

Peter Kay announces very different project away from stage after bullying claims
Comedian Peter Kay has announced a very different new project after being hit with bullying claims on his UK tour when he decided to boot hecklers out of his show Peter Kay is ready to take on a new challenge as he has revealed his new project away from his mammoth tour. The comedian, 51, recently returned to the spotlight and has been performing his act in arenas up and down the country. Earlier this year, Peter hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons as he was filmed kicking a heckler out of his show. He halted his performance and had security remove a number of fans after claiming they were spoiling the show for the rest of the attendees. However, after he labelled one ejected fan " Lisa Riley" and the remark caused a scandal, with the heckler claiming Peter was a "bully". Now, it seems Peter is ready to turn the page on the drama as he sets his sights on a very different career. Peter has revealed he has put pen to paper and promises to detail his life in his most personal book yet. In true Peter style, the book hilariously nods to Bridget Jones' Diary, as the comedian's face sits on top of the iconic character. Announcing the news, he said: "Introducing… Peter Kay's Diary: The Monthly Memoir of a Boy from Bolton, Peter's most personal and hilarious book yet. Join Peter for a laugh-out-loud journey through his life, month by month." A teaser for the book added: "Think of this autobiography as a twelve-month subscription to my memories and meanderings across the calendar year. With each month reflecting a different phase of my life, complete with dodgy decisions, bizarre plot twists and more than a few laugh-out-loud moments." Back in February, Peter dealt with hecklers at his Better Late Than Never... Again! gig at Manchester's AO Arena - but things didn't quite go as he'd planned. While he said it wasn't an insult, and Lisa herself acknowledged there was no ill-meaning, the woman in question fumed that the star had humiliated her. "Go on, off you go, Lisa Riley," Peter had jibed, making a comparison to the former Emmerdale actress. Shortly after his remark on his decision to eject the fan in Manchester, Peter opened up on the incident on Good Morning Britain. "I didn't realise it was an insult," he said. "She did look remarkably like Lisa Riley, I didn't realise that was an insult." But despite his insistence there was no dig meant, the woman in question revealed she was mortified. Myar Curran accused the star of being a "bully". Speaking herself on the ITV show, Myar said: "I didn't mean to cause any harm, I was just showing my love as he kicked someone out, but he obviously didn't like it." She added: "I feel like what I said was not abusive or aggressive - it wasn't anti-social and I wasn't drunk. I was just standing u,p chanting 'we love you Peter, we do'. It's just been a bit over the top, his reaction." A month later, Peter threatened to kick even more audience members out of his show at London's O2 Arena. Brushing off the previous backlash, he poked fun at the criticism he faced as he once again halted his show to make an example of one of his fans. Addressing the crowds, he asked: "Is it them in that box? Is that them? Who is it? Eh, it's you monkeys there. Now then, what are we going to do with you now? These people in this area now, do any of you look like Lisa Riley? No, alright," he joked as the crowd erupted into laughter. Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, an audience member said: "Peter waded in as the crowd was audibly kicking off due to some disagreement in the crowd. He poked fun at the idea of kicking them out, then dished out the issue to his security. "But he did reference it again twice in the show as they kept shouting, comparing it to a 'boot sale' at one point. It seemed like the audience in the area wanted him to kick the person out due to all the drama."

Peppa Pig writer reveals new career move following the iconic cartoon family welcoming baby piglet Evie
Peppa Pig writer Matilda Tristram is set to launch a new animated series, following the iconic cartoon family welcoming baby piglet Evie. The author and illustrator will be bringing Lucy Cousins' classic pre- school book series My Friend Maisy to life for Sky Kids and will hit screens next year. Beloved mouse Maisy along with pals Tallulah, Eddie, Charley and Cyril, had their first adventure published in 1990 and they have appeared in 47 books, with a previous animated series airing on CITV in 1999. Matilda, who has written Peppa Pig since 2021, is also creative producer for The Adventures of Abney and Teal and Teletubbies, Let's Go!. In the official announcement, Sky teased: 'From flying a rocket to the moon and sliding down rainbows, to fixing cars in her garage and meeting stripey zebras, Maisy shows that with curiosity and kindness, anything is possible.' From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Meanwhile Lucy Murphy, Director of Kids Content at Sky, said in a statement: 'Maisy is such a loved classic book character and we're so excited to be working with BBC Studios, Trustbridge Entertainment and Lucy Cousins to bring her to life in a contemporary way for Sky Kids families. 'With a real sense of joy in every episode, My Friend Maisy is the perfect blend of fun and adventure for young viewers.' Peppa Pig was created by Neville Astley and Mark Baker - who served as writers from its inception in 2004 until 2023, when they also stepped down as directors. It comes after Peppa's family were gifted a Jeep in a money-spinning new brand deal following the arrival of her baby sister. The famous cartoon pig announced the collaboration on Instagram last month after teasing how they would need a bigger car. Baby Evie - Mummy and Daddy Pig's third child - and a sister for Peppa, four, and George, two, was born just a week earlier at London's Lindo Wing. And as the growing family settle down with Evie, Jeep decided to give the family of five a helping hand. The Instagram post, which showed Peppa, her siblings and parents crowded around a luxury brand new car, was captioned: 'We heard you loud and clear! There's only one car you should drive Baby Evie home in.' Fans on social media have been in hysterics at the brand deal, with many sharing their opinion online - including celebrities such as Katherine Ryan. Taking to Instagram, the comedian said: 'What the hell is going on?!' Another said: 'This is the best collab ever.' A third wrote: 'OMGGG THIS IS GREAT MARKETING!!' 'I better see that jeep!! On the new episodesss,' a fourth commented. Evie was welcomed into the family with open arms. Speaking to Hello! Magazine, Mummy Pig said about the birth: 'We were very lucky – everything went smoothly and in eight, um, "short" hours of labour Evie was here.' Daddy Pig sweetly added: 'Mummy pig was AMAZING, and she brought our new baby girl into the world. What a miracle that is! Meanwhile Mummy Pig shared if there are future plans for more piglets. The family have been on screens since 2004 and in that time have remained a family of four, with Peppa and George not ageing throughout 21 years on screen. So when did the couple decide to add to their brood? 'I don't think either of us ever had a specific plan – but we just got to that place where timing felt right,' Mummy Pig explained. Daddy Pig agreed, adding: 'And everything fell into place. We're very lucky to be able to grow our family.' But the couple were more hesitant about adding a fourth child to their family, with Daddy Pig panicking before Mummy Pig jumped in to clarify: 'I think we're more than happy with our family of five! We're excited to settle into our new adventure and see where that takes us.' Mummy and Daddy Pig confirmed the happy news on Good Morning Britain, revealing their third piglet's name is Evie.

Susanna Reid tells Richard Madeley 'I'm concerned we'll lose you'
Good Morning Britain presenter, Susanna Reid, told co-host, Richard Madeley, she was worried about him after he appeared in the studio wearing a wrist brace Susanna Reid expressed concern for her Good Morning Britain co-host, Richard Madeley, today, telling the 69-year-old she was worried she was going to 'lose him'. The former This Morning star sparked concern when he arrived in the studio wearing a wrist brace after revealing he'd suffered a nasty fall on holiday in France. Richard, who is one of the nation's most recognisable presenters, was also struggling to talk when the ITV show started as Susanna, 54, told the dad-of-two: "I'm a bit concerned we might lose you through the programme..." Pointing at his throat, croaky-voiced, Richard replied: "This thing? I think it'll get stronger throughout the programme. That's my prediction." Later in the show, Richard revealed he had been given honey and water to soothe his throat, and reassured viewers that he would be back to full strength by the next day. "If it's annoying you, I'm really sorry. Tomorrow it'll be better," he promised. However, his health sparked a flurry of concerned comments on X (formerly Twitter), with many questioning the decision to let Richard host despite his vocal struggles. One viewer asked: "Why on earth have you let Richard take the chair today when he can hardly talk?" Another said: "Richard Madeley sounds like Daddy Pig this morning," while a third commented: "Richard's ill, should have replaced him today." Richard, who has presented GMB since 2017, was also forced to explain his painful looking wrist, which was supported by a brace. Clocking his new accessory, Susanna said: 'Richard, you better explain – that looks sore." The veteran presenter, who is married to former This Morning co-host, Judy Finnigan, and who has just come back from a trip away to France, unfortunately didn't have the best time in Europe as he revealed he fell down a steep pavement while away on his trip. Explaining the unfortunate events to his co-host, Richard revealed he had a double fracture of the wrist, explaining: "I was walking quite quickly down a steep pavement in France, actually, on Friday. 'The pavement was loose and it flipped up and it flipped me forward, and I thought, 'Am I gonna win or is gravity gonna win?' And gravity won, and I hit the ground hard. So yeah, I've got a double fracture and we'll see how it goes." It seems like the injury was painful for the star, who continued: 'I'm not discussing the pain threshold. We don't think about pain.' Changing the subject, Susanna continued: "Okay, we're just going to distract ourselves. It's good to have you back." "It's nice to be back," Richard replied, as Susanna smiled, warmly.
