'I cried on Google Meet': Bengaluru techie quits job after public shaming and gaslighting
The story of a young software engineer from Bengaluru has gone viral on LinkedIn after another user shared details of the toxic work culture that allegedly drove him to quit his job, not due to underperformance, but because of emotional breakdown and persistent humiliation.
According to the post, the engineer broke down in a virtual meeting after a simple request for project clarity was met with hostility.
'I cried on a G-Meet because I asked for clarity on a project. That's how bad it got,' the techie reportedly said.

The account paints a picture of a dysfunctional work environment: no onboarding, no structure, and an expectation to 'figure it out'. Any deviation led to public humiliation.
'We've stopped hoping for appreciation. Now, we just hope we aren't shamed in front of everyone,' the employee reportedly shared.
The techie's manager allegedly called at odd hours, gaslighted concerns, and blamed team members indiscriminately. When the engineer finally resigned, the manager's parting words were reportedly:
'Good luck finding another job. Let's see how long you last there.'
The post, which has struck a nerve with many professionals, called the experience not just toxic, but traumatic.
'People don't leave companies. They leave environments where their dignity is no longer safe.'
The viral story ended with a sobering reminder about leadership. 'A bad manager can make a dream job hell. A good one can make even a messy job feel meaningful. So be grateful to great managers, they're rarer than you think.'
The post has struck a deep chord across LinkedIn, with users expressing shock, empathy, and calls for better leadership in corporate India.
One user wrote, 'This post hits hard. It's heartbreaking to see how leadership, or the lack thereof, can deeply impact someone's confidence and mental health. A strong reminder that as leaders, our greatest responsibility is to uplift, listen, and create an environment where people feel valued and safe.'
Another remarked on how far removed the modern workplace can be from what is promised, 'These days, dream jobs are more myth than reality.'
Many were stunned that such toxic work cultures still exist in 2025. 'It's too sad. I was of the opinion that such things don't happen now. I truly feel that we shall land our dream job, but we must continue our search till we find that one. Please share this message with the young man.'

RBI cut interest rates: How will it impact personal loan interest rates?
On 6th June 2025, the RBI cut the repo rate by 50 basis points and the Cash Reserve Ratio (CRR) by 100 basis points. It was RBI's third repo rate cut in successive Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meetings since February 2025. The interest rate cuts are expected to bring down interest rates on personal loans and other loans. In this article, we will understand what the repo rate is, the repo rate cuts by the RBI, and how it will impact personal loan interest rates. Before understanding the impact of RBI repo rate cuts on loan interest rates, let us first understand what is the repo rate. The repo rate or the Repurchase Rate is the rate at which banks borrow money from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). The money is borrowed by offering Government Securities (G-secs) as collateral to the RBI. The borrowing bank later buys back the G-secs from the RBI at a higher rate, including the interest amount calculated as per the repo rate. On 6th June 2025, the RBI cut the repo rate by 50 basis points from 6% to 5.5%. It is the RBI's biggest repo rate in the last few years. Before that, the RBI cut the repo rate from 6.5% to 6.25% in February 2025, and further from 6.25% to 6.0% in April 2025. Apart from the repo rate cut, the RBI announced the CRR cut by 100 basis points. It will be done in four equal tranches of 25 basis points each on 6th September, 4th October, 1st November, and 29th November. A cut in the repo rate has a direct impact on the personal loan interest rates. When the repo rate is cut, it lowers the cost of borrowing for banks. When the cost of funds falls for banks, they can lend to customers at a lower rate. Thus, when the repo rate decreases, the interest rates on personal loans and other loans go down. The RBI's move to cut the repo rate by 100 basis points or 1% since February 2025 is good news for personal loan borrowers. The borrowers can expect a cut in interest rates on personal loans. If banks lower the interest rates on personal loans by 100 basis points, it will result in huge interest rate savings for borrowers. Let us understand the savings in interest amount with an example. Kareena wants to take a Rs. 10 lakh personal loan for a tenure of 5 years. At a 12% interest rate, Kareena will have to pay an Equated Monthly Instalment (EMI) of Rs. 22,244. She will pay a total of Rs. 13,34,667 to the bank through 60 EMIs. Thus, the total interest paid by Kareena on the 5-year personal loan will be Rs. 3,34,667. Now, suppose the bank reduces the personal loan interest rate to 11% after the 100-basis points repo rate cut by the RBI. For the same Rs. 10 lakh personal loan of 5 years, Kareena's EMI will fall to Rs. 21,742. She will pay a total of Rs. 13,04,545 to the bank through 60 EMIs. The total interest paid by Kareen on the 5-year personal loan will be Rs. 3,04,545. With the personal loan interest rate falling from 12% to 11%, Kareena's EMI will fall from Rs. 22,244 to Rs. 21,742. Thus, she will save Rs. 502 every month on her EMI. The total interest paid over the 5-year personal loan will fall from Rs. 3,34,667 to Rs. 3,04,545. Thus, she will have interest savings of Rs. 30,122 over the entire loan tenure. The table below shows the savings due to changes in personal loan interest rates due to a cut in the repo rate. Personal loan amount & tenure Rs. 10,00,000 for 5 years Rs. 10,00,000 for 5 years Interest rate 12% 11% EMI Rs. 22,244 Rs. 21,742 EMI saving Rs. 502 Total interest paid over 5 years Rs. 3,34,667 Rs. 3,04,545 Total interest savings Rs. 30,122 The above-expected interest rate cuts are not just limited to personal loans. The cuts in Repo Rate are expected to lead to a cut in interest rates on most loans like home loans, vehicle loans, business loans, etc. One of the important objectives of the RBI is to keep inflation at 4% with a tolerance band of 2 to 6% (+ or – 2%). For April 2025, the CPI inflation rate was at 3.16%, well below the RBI's target rate of 4%. The lower inflation rate gave the RBI the elbow room to cut interest rates. The RBI expects the CPI inflation to be 3.7% for FY 2025-26. It is within the RBI's target rate of 4%. However, during his 6th June Monetary Policy statement, the Governor mentioned that after the 100-basis points repo rate cut since February 2025, the RBI is left with limited space to support growth. Hence, the MPC has changed its stance from accommodative to neutral. Going ahead, the MPC will assess the incoming economic data for future course of action. Thus, going ahead, repo rate cuts, if any, will depend on the inflation rate and other economic data. As mentioned earlier, there is limited scope for any further repo rate cuts in the near future. It will all depend on how inflation behaves. Banks will pass on the repo rate cut benefit to their customers in the form of lower interest rates on personal loans and other loans. Hence, if you are looking for a personal loan, consider going for it. Gopal Gidwani is a freelance personal finance content writer with 15+ years of experience. He can be reached at LinkedIn.

₹8 lakh bag-holding 'jugaad' by Mumbai auto near US consulate shut down
An autorickshaw driver who became an overnight internet sensation for claiming to earn between ₹5 lakh and ₹8 lakh a month — not by ferrying passengers, but by offering to safeguard their bags near the US Consulate in Mumbai's Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) — is now in hot water with the city police. The unusual story came to light last week when Rahul Rupani, co-founder of VenueMonk, shared his experience on LinkedIn. Rupani recounted a situation where he wasn't allowed to carry his bag into the US Consulate for his visa interview and was unsure where to leave it. That's when an autorickshaw driver stationed nearby offered a quick fix — safekeeping for a fee of ₹1,000. ' Sir, bag de do. Safe rakhunga, mera roz ka hai (Sir, give me your bag. I will keep it safe, I do it daily),' the driver had reportedly said. Though hesitant at first, Rupani eventually agreed and was impressed by what he called a 'brilliant business' idea. His post quickly went viral, claiming that the driver was earning ₹5–8 lakh monthly by running this informal locker service. The story even caught the attention of billionaire Harsh Goenka, who hailed the idea as 'pure Indian jugaad". But the viral fame brought more than just praise. As the post spread widely, it also drew the attention of law enforcement. Mumbai Police summoned the autorickshaw driver in question — along with a dozen others reportedly offering similar 'bag-holding' services near the consulate — for questioning. A senior officer from the BKC police station told the Hindustan Times that such services violate security protocols. "Parking in the area is restricted for safety reasons. Auto drivers are only allowed to drop passengers and leave immediately," the officer said. The police further noted that these drivers do not have any legal permission to store bags or run makeshift locker services from their rickshaws or nearby shops. Authorities also highlighted the potential security threats posed by unattended or misplaced belongings, especially near a high-security zone like the US Consulate. 'The auto driver has a licence to transport passengers, not to run a locker service,' officials told the Free Press Journal. 'Therefore, we inquired into the matter and he has now stopped providing lockers.'

"No Help, No Empathy": Ola Faces Backlash After Noida Woman's Bike Accident
Ola, a popular ride-hailing platform, is facing intense backlash online after a disturbing incident involving one of its bike rides. Siddhi Vijayvargia, a Noida-based woman, allegedly suffered a major fracture in her left arm due to negligent driving by the rider on April 22. The incident was highlighted by Pratyush Singh, a Senior Brand Manager at DigiWhistle and a colleague of Ms Vijayvargia, through a LinkedIn post. Mr Singh shared photos and screenshots of the ride, accusing Ola of lacking accountability and sparking widespread outrage. "My colleague Siddhi Vijayvargia recently went through something no one should. She met with a serious accident while riding an OLA Bike, due to negligent driving by the rider. The result? A major fracture in her left arm, multiple surgeries, over ₹3 lakhs in medical expenses. All of this, because of someone else's recklessness," he wrote in the post. Pratyush Singh alleged that Ola failed to take action despite promises of help, instead responding with delays, ignorance, and vague responses over several months. He criticised the company for lacking concrete support, empathy, and accountability. Mr Singh also questioned Ola's lack of support, tagging the company and its CEO, Bhavish Aggarwal, and emphasising that the issue goes beyond financial compensation. He highlighted that Siddhi, who trusted Ola's platform, is now struggling to receive basic support, transparency, and compensation after the incident disrupted her life. "This isn't just about money, this is about basic human decency. When someone places trust in your platform, and that trust is shattered, the least you can do is stand by them when things go wrong. Ola, & Bhavish Aggarwal, is this how you treat victims of your riders' negligence? Where's the support? Where's the responsibility? Siddhi didn't ask for this trauma. She didn't expect her life to come to a halt. And now she's forced to fight for what should've been automatically extended to her - support, care, and rightful reimbursement," he added. Reacting to the LinkedIn post, Ola Cabs Support wrote, 'We want to ensure that this matter is properly addressed and we empathise with how distressing it may have been for are actively working on the details you have provided and will connect with you at the earliest. Your patience is deeply appreciated." Mr Singh wasn't satisfied with Ola's response, calling it a template reply and urging the company to take concrete and prompt action rather than just providing lip service. The incident has once again raised concerns about safety and accountability in app-based bike rides.
