G. Sathiyan and Akash Pal beat Jules Rolland and Leo De Nodrest of France 11-9, 11-4, 11-9 to win their maiden Tour men's doubles title at the WTT Contender Lagos on Saturday.
This is Sathiyan's second WTT men's doubles title overall.
'Fantastic. We both were unseeded. Still, to beat the French pair by a 3-0 margin was great. We combined well. Akash has a powerful game, and I could place the ball well. We complemented each other,' Sathiyan told The Hindu.

However, Japanese second seed Honoka Hashimoto beat Sreeja 11-7, 11-3, 11-4, 9-11, 13-11 in the summit clash to clinch the crown.

Hugo Ekitike's Agent Seen In Tears As His Community Shield Goal Goes Viral

Last Updated: Liverpool forward Hugo Ekitike scored the opening goal in the FA Community Shield final against Crystal Palace, bringing his agent Karl Mwalako to tears. Liverpool forward Hugo Ekitike's agent Karl Mwalako was seen in tears after the former scored the opening goal for the club in their FA Community Shield final match against Crystal Palace. He scored the first goal of the match after only four minutes to put Liverpool ahead at Wembley. Donning a Liverpool shirt and a cap among the audience, Mwalako couldn't hold back his tears after Ekitike's brilliant debut goal for the club. Mwalako had worked with the French star to bag a transfer from Eintracht Frankfurt this summer, with several teams having sought to sign him. Watch the video here: Ekitike was selected to lead the line for a revamped Liverpool frontline in the match against Crystal Palace, with fellow debutant Florian Wirtz playing behind him. Liverpool agreed a deal that could reach up to £79 million to sign Ekitike on a six-year deal earlier this summer after he impressed last season. Slot's Premier League champions remain in the market for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, but Ekitike showed his capability against Palace. After storming to a record-equalling 20th English top-flight title in Arne Slot's first season in charge, Liverpool have looked to build from a position of strength during a summer marked by tragedy. Portuguese forward Diogo Jota was killed in a car accident alongside his brother in July, plunging the club into mourning. Tributes to Jota will continue throughout the season with 'Forever 20", his shirt number, which the club have now retired, printed on Liverpool's jerseys. The Reds have already spent £260 million ($350 million) on Wirtz, Ekitike, Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong. However, after the departures of Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez, they aren't yet done in strengthening their forward line and are expected to launch a fresh bid for Isak, with Newcastle demanding a British transfer record fee for the Swedish striker. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr Nearing €35m Deal For Bayern Munich Star: Reports

Cristiano Ronaldo's Al Nassr near signing Bayern's Kingsley Coman for €35m. Cristiano Ronaldo's Al Nassr are closing in on a massive €35m deal to sign Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman, according to several reports. The team are looking to wrap up a deal for the latter as the beginning of the 2025-26 season approaches and it looks to rebuild a strong side. Journalist Florian Plettenburg has reported that Bayern are now open to selling Coman to Al Nassr this summer as negotiations have reached an advanced stage. Al Nassr have sought to strengthen their team this summer after the arrival of Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus as a replacement for Stefano Pioli. Ronaldo's team has already signed Joao Felix to bolster their attack, but remains active in the market. Coman is open to joining Al-Nassr after agreeing to a deal worth over €20 million per year, according to reports. Bayern have opted to part ways with Coman after their summer acquisition of Luis Diaz from Liverpool. Once the move is finalised, the former will join fellow French stars Karim Benzema, N'Golo Kante, Moussa Diaby and multiple other top names in the Saudi Pro League. For Coman, the deal is a winner as he is reported to be getting paid double what he makes now. For Bayern, shedding his €17 million for each of the next two years was a major factor in deciding to make the move. Coman could soon be teammates with Sadio Mane, Marcelo Brozovic and Ronaldo, though he went on record to say that he prefers Lionel Messi. Coman joined Bayern a decade back and has won nine Bundesliga titles, as well as scoring the winner in the 2020 Champions League final. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
