Spartan bus tour hits the road

Yahoo05-05-2025

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – A bus full of Michigan State University faculty and staff Spartans hit the road this morning just past 7 am on a whirlwind two-day trip throughout Metro Detroit.
Kwesi Brookins, Vice Provost for Community Outreach and Engagement, says that part of the trip's goal is to 'bookend a lot of what we can learn about Detroit and…[what] our role as a University is in serving Michigan.'
The tour will include stops at the Holocaust Center in Farmington Hills, the newly reopened Motown Museum, and the Detroit Institute of Arts. As MSU has provided decades of support to many of the locales, it's a chance for everyone to see the outcome of the University's efforts up close and in person.
'Hard choices' ahead as MSU President says 'we must adjust our financial path'
Sparty, the MSU mascot, made an appearance to send the group off on their education adventure.
Right before the Spartan-branded bus pulled away from the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center, MSU president Kevin M. Guskiewicz gave all 50 faculty and staff aboard a speech which concluded with a rousing call and response — 'Go green' and 'Go white!'

How Trump Middle East Hotel Planned For 2028 Will Look

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Donald Trump's signature brand has announced plans for a new hotel to be built in Oman as part of the company's expansion in the Middle East. The Trump Organization has partnered with Oman's state-run tourism department, the Omran Group, to design and build the Trump International Oman Hotel before the end of the decade. Newsweek contacted the Trump Organization for more information via email. The Context The Trump Organization is investing heavily in Middle Eastern construction over the next decade, with major construction projects in Saudi Arabia and the UAE. By 2031, the company hopes that three new structures will be operating in the region, which is billing itself as a new hub for tourism and international investment in order to diversify the regional economy away from oil exports. Dar Global What To Know The new hotel, designed by luxury real estate developer Dar Global, will be built in Oman's capital, Muscat. Like many of the Trump Organization's other buildings, the hotel will borrow heavily from its namesake's reputation for opulence, using the same white-gold color scheme present in Trump Tower, New York and the two planned towers in Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Rendered images of the project's future released by Dar Global show that the hotel will house a swimming pool, a nightclub, and a viewing deck for the Gulf of Oman, as well as an international golf course, all Trump-branded. Dar Global One of the most ambitious parts of the hotel, if built correctly, will be a series of hanging suites that face the coast, with wall-to-ceiling windows for views. The hotel has a reported price tag of $500 million, with construction expected to be finished by the end of 2028. However, the first phase of building work is set to be done by 2027. What People Are Saying In a statement seen by Newsweek, the Omran Group said: "Oman is quickly becoming one of the most prominent commercial and cultural hubs in the region and is rapidly becoming a prime investment destination due to its attractive benefits. "From its favorable tax environment and its strategic location as a gateway to the Middle East and Africa, Oman offers countless opportunities for businesses to grow and thrive." Dar Global Eric Trump, who manages the Trump Organization with his brother Donald Jr., said in December: "This collaboration embodies our shared vision of creating landmark developments that exude luxury, quality, and sophistication. Together with Dar Global, we are setting new benchmarks for excellence, aiming to meet the demand for iconic properties in key markets." What Happens Next Dar Global and the Trump Organization have said that the hotel will be fully constructed by December 2028.

Delta Is Making Business Class Chicer With Custom Amenities From an Iconic Italian Designer

Get ready to rest easy in the sky in sophisticated style with a new luxury bedding collaboration coming to a major airline this year. Delta Air Lines is partnering with luxury Italian fashion brand Missoni to create a bedding set specifically designed for the carrier, with a Missoni duvet and sleeping pillow with a distinct zigzag design. The Delta One Collection will also include an expanded amenity kit, custom socks, navy slippers, and a lightweight and breathable eye mask. For flights that are longer than 12 hours, Delta is also introducing a memory foam cuddle pillow, and is slated to offer its popular mattress pad that doubles as a lumbar pillow on all Delta One flights. The introduction of the Missoni-branded Delta One Collection will begin to roll out this summer and will be on all Delta One flights by the end of the year. Delta One's lie-flat seats are spacious and have direct aisle access, and their popular mattress pad has already been available on flights over 12 hours long. 'In travel, every moment matters—not just where you're going, but how you get there,' Mauricio Parise, V.P. of brand experience at Delta Airlines, said in a statement shared with Travel + Leisure . 'We want you to savor your time in the air, which is why we are intentional about each detail of the customer experience to create a sense of home in every space, which is instantly elevated with Missoni's iconic, signature designs. Our new Missoni collection will help you arrive at your destination feeling refreshed and ready for the journey ahead.' Later this year, the airline will also introduce Missoni-branded slippers for their flights. The refreshed amenity kits, in shades of cream and navy, will be available in the fall and will include Grown Alchemist skincare products, a bamboo toothbrush, Marvis toothpaste, earplugs, and more. 'We know nothing compares to sleeping in the comfort of your own bed,' Parise said in the statement. 'However, when we set out to re-think the in-flight sleep experience, we focused on offering customers the same luxurious sleep experience you might get in a high-end hotel.' The new offerings are influenced by customer surveys, in-flight tests, and Delta-conducted research to determine what customers care about most with their sleep experience in the sky.
