Woman rides bicycle through KPE tunnel at 3.15am

Straits Times24-06-2025
A woman was caught on camera cycling in the Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway (KPE) tunnel.
The move not only baffled netizens but also raised safety concerns.
A Stomper alerted Stomp to a video of the incident that was shared on the Singapore roads accident.com Facebook page on June 23.
While the exact date of the incident is unclear, the footage was reportedly recorded at 3.15am.
In the clip, the woman is seen calmly riding a green bicycle, which resembles an Anywheel rental bike, through the tunnel.
She appears unbothered by the fact that she is in a space meant strictly for motor vehicles.
There were hardly any other vehicles in the tunnel at the time, but many online commenters noted that cycling on an expressway, even in the early hours, is both illegal and dangerous.
The video has since garnered over 140,000 views.
Under the Road Traffic Act, cyclists are not allowed on expressways.
Those who do so can be fined up to $2,000 or jailed for up to six months.

Woman, 74, dies days before sentencing for noise disturbances, neighbour says: 'I will not forgive her'

Woman, 74, dies days before sentencing for noise disturbances, neighbour says: 'I will not forgive her' Ethel Tseng TNP July 25, 2025 A 74-year-old woman who was found guilty of repeatedly disturbing her upstairs neighbour died before she could be sentenced. Zheng Wentian (transliterated) had been convicted under the Community Disputes Resolution Act (CDRA) for failing to comply with a court order prohibiting her from causing noise disturbances. She was due to be sentenced on July 24, but the prosecution informed the court that she had died of illness on July 15. The charges were formally withdrawn, and the case was closed. According to earlier reports, Zheng was accused of violating a court order issued on June 30, 2023, which directed her to follow the terms of a 2018 agreement. The agreement barred her from shouting or making noise that would disturb her upstairs neighbour, Ms Cai Xuehong, who lives on the 12th floor of Block 316A Anchorvale Link. Between July 25, 2023, and Feb 22, 2024, Zheng allegedly shouted and made noise on at least 15 occasions without apparent reason from her flat on the 11th floor. Ms Cai testified that the disturbances began in 2017, about 14 years after she moved into the unit with her husband. She alleged that Zheng would bang on the ceiling and hurl verbal abuse through the window whenever her family used the toilet. The court found Zheng guilty in June, with the judge noting that she had given evasive answers and inconsistent testimony during cross-examination, and failed to refute the charges. Neighbours want life to go back to normal On July 24, Ms Cai attended court with her husband and another neighbour, expecting sentencing to proceed. Speaking to reporters afterwards, she expressed mixed feelings. "I will not forgive her, but I can put down this heavy burden in my heart," she said. "It will take time to fully let go." She added that she hopes life can now return to normal. Click here to contribute a story or submit it to our WhatsApp Get more of Stomp's latest updates by following us on:

50-year-old woman kept 79 dogs in Sembawang landed home, far exceeding 3-dog limit

Ivan Lim TNP July 25, 2025 A 50-year-old woman has been charged with keeping 79 dogs - mostly miniature poodles - in a landed property in Sembawang without licences and failing to microchip them. Singaporean Julia Moss faces 82 charges, the bulk of which relate to not licensing the dogs, Lianhe Zaobao reported. She is accused of housing the animals at a property along Wak Hassan Drive on Aug 28, 2024 - far exceeding the legal limit of three dogs for a private property. Moss also allegedly failed to meet the deadline to microchip the animals by Aug 27, 2024, a requirement imposed by the Director-General of Animal Health and Welfare on May 29 last year. On Jan 25 this year, she allegedly did not inform the authorities of her plans to relocate the dogs. The address listed in the charge was for another house, also along Wak Hassan Drive. She is further accused of failing to provide the Director-General with the new address where the dogs were moved to, which contravenes the Animals and Birds Act. The case has been adjourned for Moss to engage legal counsel. She is expected to return to court on Aug 20. According to animal welfare organisation Voices For Animals, they managed to rehome 37 of the 79 dogs. For keeping more than three dogs on a private property, Moss faces a fine of up to $5,000. For failing to microchip the dogs as directed, she could be jailed for up to 12 months, fined up to $10,000, or both. Each charge of owning an unlicensed dog carries a fine of up to $5,000. Failing to inform the authorities before relocating the animals could result in a jail term of up to six months, a fine of up to $5,000, or both. Helper stole $30k from employer in 28 days, sent it to husband in Indonesia and spent it on mobile games

Helper stole $30k from employer in 28 days, sent it to husband in Indonesia and spent it on mobile games Ethel Tseng TNP July 18, 2025 An Indonesian domestic helper, left alone at home, repeatedly entered her employer's sister-in-law's room, stealing more than $30,000 over a span of 28 days. Most of the money was sent to her husband in Indonesia, while the remaining amount was spent on mobile games. On July 15, 28-year-old Mei Santi Andriani (transliterated) was jailed for 10 months after pleading guilty to two counts of theft. Three other charges were taken into consideration for sentencing. Shin Min Daily News reported that Andriani was employed by a 59-year-old woman but did not live with her. Instead, her primary duties were to care for the employer's 82-year-old mother-in-law and father-in-law, carrying out household chores such as cleaning and cooking. The elderly couple initially lived in a private residence in the Mandai area. On March 26, due to ongoing renovation works at the elderly couple's home, they temporarily relocated to a public housing unit along Yishun Ring Road. The elderly couple shared one bedroom, while Andriani and the employer's 53-year-old sister-in-law occupied separate rooms. Intruded into private room to steal The employer's sister-in-law told Andriani that she was only allowed to enter the sister-in-law's room for cleaning when she was at home, and that the room would usually be locked. However, while doing the laundry, Andriani discovered a key in a pair of trousers that belonged to the sister-in-law. She kept the key with the intention of using it to steal from the room. On May 6, Andriani used the key to unlock the room and discovered a large sum of cash in a wardrobe drawer. She took a bundle of cash and locked up after leaving. Counting the money in her own room, she found she had taken $4,700, which she deposited into her bank account later that day. Emboldened, Andriani continued stealing from the room. Between May 6 and May 28, she stole on at least 14 occasions, taking a total of $30,140 in cash. Each time, she deposited the stolen money into her bank account on the same day. She later sent a large portion of the money to her husband, who resides in Indonesia, while the rest was spent on mobile games and personal expenses.
