Father's Day is this weekend, and a good meal is one of the best ways to say thank you. The Coachella Valley is full of options, ranging from steakhouses to brunch spots.
This year, skip the neck ties and novelty gifts, and treat Dad to a brunch or dining experience that fits his flavor, from a pizza party to a Belgian-inspired brunch.
Here are seven spots in the local area offering comfort, quality and character to make Dad feel appreciated this Father's Day.
Three restaurants at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino — Bistro, POM and Fresh Grill Buffet — are offering Father's Day specials with menus curated by its culinary team and Executive Chef Freddy Rieger.
Bistro will feature a 16-ounce ribeye steak, loaded baked potato, grilled vegetables, pinot noir demi-glace and smoked bone marrow butter at $68 per person. If Dad has a craving for fruits of the sea, POM is the place to be with Maine lobster meat, shrimp, mussels, Manila clams, angel hair pasta in seafood tomato broth with a garlic crostini and soup of the day.
For dad and the rest of the family, sometimes love can be defined by "all you can eat." The Fresh Grill Buffet will have plenty to choose from during its brunch service with made-to-order omelets, eggs Benedict, chicken fried steak, country gravy, cheese blintzes, griddle favorites and traditional sides. The buffet also includes fresh salads, seafood, prime rib, maple-roasted turkey breast, honey-glazed Virginia ham and much more.

Treat dad to a hearty brunch at Porta Via Palm Desert this Sunday. Eggs Benedict, eggs royale, rigatoni with spicy vodka sauce, orange ginger stir fry, grilled ora king salmon, chicken paillard, and many more items are on the menu, and you can wash your dish down with your choice of a variety of juices, non-alcoholic beverages and cocktails.

Summer can be a joyous season, filled with outdoor activities, family picnics, and weekend getaways, but it can also be draining for parents. Why not set yourself up for success by filling your cart with a few worthwhile toys? As a mother of two, I've absolutely been guilty of buying cheap toys with same-day delivery just to give the kids something to do, only to have those toys lose their luster (or worse, break) after a few hours. The following toys do not fall into that category! These toys are meant for long days at the beach, sunny afternoons in the yard, and late nights waiting up for fireworks. From travel toys that'll have your kids so occupied they'll forget to ask, "Are we there yet?" to playhouses that'll have siblings play like a nice little family to old-school family games, these toys are the best of the cozy coupes from Little Tikes are a time-honored classic. There are so many variations – Fairy, Dinosaur, Ladybug – but toddlers will go nuts for the latest collab: Bluey. It's our favorite of Red Toolbox's Stanley Jr. line, which also includes a hedge trimmer, a leaf blower (complete with fake leaves), and a weed whacker. This one comes with everything they need to make a delicious wooden meal. (My kids are also big on the ice cream counter.) They can use these magnetic tiles in their room after the sun goes down, in a camping tent, or shut up alone in their closet. (Is that just a my-kids thing?) I'd never seen battery-powered water blasters before, and my kids went absolutely feral over them. They shoot water with barely any pressure on the trigger, light up, and are easy to refill. Unlike books that come with water pens to color in pages, the kids get to chose colors themselves. These are great for the car and we also frequently bring them as a restaurant activity. Ages 3 and up. $8.58 at you have a big kid or a teen with an affinity for sports, grab a glowing ball for late-night fun. MindWare has both this football, which comes with a tee, and a basketball, which comes with a strip of solar-powered lights for the rim of your hoop. The dump truck is fun and durable, but my 3-year-old also loves the monster truck version. These tables will keep their hands busy, encourage standing, and get them familiar with basic laws of gravity. This one is slightly larger, so it's perfect for households with more than one kid. Our guide to celebrating Nashville on 615 Day
Nashville might have some growing pains, but there is plenty to celebrate. So let's party. Driving the news: June 15, otherwise known as 615 Day, is this weekend. It might not be a real holiday, but it is the perfect excuse to celebrate all the wonders found within the 615 area code. 🎉 State of yay: There are several official 615 Day activities, including concerts at The Basement East and 3rd & Lindsley. We decided to share our unofficial take on the best way to spend a day in Music City. 🌄 Start the day: If you haven't watched the sun rise over Love Circle Park, you're missing out. The lovely vista nestled near West End Ave reaches 744 feet high, and offers dazzling views of the city and the lush hills that surround it. Birdsong Hollow on the Natchez Trace Parkway is a lovely alternative. (It's technically in Franklin, but they're part of the 615, too.) ☕ Grab a coffee: Nashville's Pride Coffee Crawl launches on Sunday. Shops across the city will have drink specials inspired by the LGBTQ+ community. 🚗 Bond with dad: Lane Motor Museum has a collection of 150 cars and motorcycles dating back to the early 1900s. June 15 also happens to be Father's Day, and dads get in free. 🚶 Take a walk: We love that Nashville blends big-city amenities with proximity to nature. The Richland Creek Greenway offers both. You can stroll over a brook, take a lap around a golf course and then wrap up with a bushwacker and wings at the Neighbors sports bar in Sylvan Park. That's our kind of exercise. 🧠 Learn: The Parthenon is launching a new exhibit this weekend that celebrates Alan LeQuire, the sculptor who created the towering 42-foot statue of Athena at the center of the museum. You can learn more about the making of the statue and see LeQuire's other work. 🎶 Jam session: The 615Day concert at The Basement East is a celebration of Nashville's underground music scene. The lineup includes R&B, hip-hop, funk, metal and rock acts.
