Brian May in shock over claims Freddie Mercury fathered secret lovechild
Brian May has poured cold water on rumours that Freddie Mercury secretly fathered a child during an alleged affair, with the Queen guitarist casting doubt on the sensational claims.
Queen legend Brian May has been left stunned by bombshell claims that Freddie Mercury secretly fathered a child — but says he's not convinced.
His wife, EastEnders icon Anita Dobson, revealed her jaw dropped when she heard the shocking news: 'I went 'what?' I thought, 'No!' I said to Brian: 'Do you know about this?' And he said: 'Do you believe this?''
The jaw-dropping claims come from a new biography by author Lesley-Ann Jones, who says Freddie has a 48-year-old daughter known only as 'B' — and insists she has DNA proof to back it up, reports the Mirror.
The writer claims the child was conceived in 1976 during an affair between Freddie and the wife of a close friend. The woman now lives in Europe and is a mum herself.
She says the Bohemian Rhapsody singer kept in regular contact, called her daily while on tour, and even gave her 17 volumes of handwritten journals before his tragic death in 1991.
But Anita isn't buying it — and says it's hard to believe such a huge secret could've stayed buried for decades.
She said: 'There must be lots of people who have children that we don't know about. It's just because it's him. Because he's iconic. And the type of animal that he was, it seems inconceivable that he would have a child with someone we don't know about.
"If he does have one where is she - step forward. If she exists. Maybe it is just more fake news.'
The book, titled 'Love, Freddie', is due out in September and claims Mercury even told his Queen bandmates about the girl.
In a letter printed in the book, B writes: 'Freddie Mercury was and is my father. We had a very close and loving relationship from the moment I was born and throughout the final 15 years of his life.

'He adored me and was devoted to me. The circumstances of my birth may seem unusual and even outrageous — that should come as no surprise.'
She claims Mercury even had a room of his own in her childhood home and made sure to see her regularly.
Writer Jones has defended the book, saying all necessary legal and DNA checks were carried out: 'Verification was obtained, legal teams have been involved — but such measures are private and not shared publicly.'
She also hit back at suggestions the journals were AI-generated fakes, writing: 'To those saying his daughter 'doesn't exist' and I made it up — wait and see. His own story, told in his own words, is incredible. I love him all the more for it. You will too.'

Emmerdale star to stage unexpected return after 5 years
A former Emmerdale character is reportedly heading back to the village for Nate Robinson's (Jurell Carter) funeral. Carryl is set to reprise her role as Cara – Nate's mum – next month. Cara hasn't been in the Dales for five years, but she was briefly mentioned a couple of weeks ago, when Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) spoke to her about their son's murder. The brief phone call allowed us to discover Cara still hugely dislikes Cain. This will make for interesting viewing soon, as both Cain and Nate's partner Tracy Shankley (Amy Walsh) have been accused of killing him. 'Nate's death has been heartbreaking for his family and with the truth hidden the Dingles and Tracy are more divided than ever. Cara returns to say goodbye to her son and walks straight into the middle of it all', a source told The Sun. 'She's going to have a few choice words for her ex Cain as she tries to understand what really happened to Nate. Carryl jumped at the chance to reprise her role after five years to do justice to the storyline.' Nate was killed by John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) last year, but this wasn't confirmed until April 2025. In an episode that featured flashback scenes, it was established that John lives with a hero complex. He orchestrates terrible situations and then steps in to fix them, looking like a great person in front of the Emmerdale residents. When it comes to Nate, John attempted to help him after he was attacked by Cain. He gave Nate some medication but he reacted badly to it, leading to his death. As it stands, John is doing a very good job at hiding in the shadows while the police continue their investigation into Nate's murder. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? Corrie 'confirms' who left Gary Windass for dead in early ITVX release
The following article contains spoilers from an episode of Coronation Street that hasn't aired on ITV1 yet, but can be viewed on ITVX. Gary Windass (Mikey North) is lying unconscious in a hospital bed in Coronation Street, and the person responsible for putting him there has seemingly been confirmed. A couple of days ago, multiple young Weatherfield residents arrived at the Alahan household for a party. Things ended up taking a turn for the worse, however, when Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) and Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) decided to take hallucinogenic drugs. When DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) arrived at the party, Summer and Nina made a quick escape to avoid being caught under the influence of illegal substances. When they arrived back at the cafe later that night, they were both distraught, having clearly witnessed something traumatic. Nina and Summer have found themselves in a confusing situation ever since. The two girls are certain something happened that night but without any evidence and the fact they were on drugs, proving it seems nigh-on impossible. Nina only ended up going to the police station tonight because of Roy Cropper (David Neilson). In Seb's memorial garden, Nina reflected on what happened and revealed she pushed a man who fell to the floor, and she knows it happened because the noise of his head hitting the ground reminded her of the night Seb was attacked. At the station, Nina opened up to Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) but he gently pointed out that he doesn't have enough concrete information to conduct an investigation. When she mentioned Summer being involved though, Kit realised he was able to dig a little deeper into things. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? That afternoon, Roy, Nina, Summer and Billy (Daniel Brocklebank) stood in the station awaiting news from Kit. The detective confirmed that currently, he cannot find anything that confirms someone is in hospital after falling and hitting his head. More Trending This left Nina in a panicked state. As far as she was concerned, the man falling and hitting his head did happen, and she couldn't understand why everything suggested otherwise. But we know, of course, that Nina is right.
