Nicki Minaj Joins Lil Wayne At No. 1
Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj's 'Banned from NO' remix hits No. 1 on iTunes ahead of Tha Carter VI's ... More Billboard debut, replacing Sabrina Carpenter's 'Manchild.' In just a few days, Lil Wayne's new album Tha Carter VI will debut on the Billboard charts. The set dropped on Friday, June 6, and its first full tracking period is about to wrap. The hip-hop superstar didn't push any proper singles from the effort, but one tune has quickly broken out and been identified by fans as the standout cut from the full-length—thanks to an inventive remix that quickly became a bestseller.
Wayne recruited his longtime friend Nicki Minaj for a remix of the track 'Banned from NO,' one of the many compositions featured on Tha Carter VI. The track may now become an official single, spurred by what appears to be a strong commercial reception. As of this writing, the 'Banned from NO' remix sits at No. 1 on the iTunes Top Songs chart, making it the bestselling track in America on one of the most important platforms in the music industry.
'Banned from NO' replaces Sabrina Carpenter's 'Manchild' at No. 1 on the iTunes Top Songs tally. The pop singer's latest single had been leading the charge since it arrived several days ago, but it now falls several spaces, making room for tracks by Alex Warren, Chappell Roan and Oliver Anthony Music.
'Banned from NO' will likely appear on various Billboard rankings alongside Tha Carter VI next week. Whether it will be credited to just Wayne or to both Wayne and Minaj remains to be seen. Billboard only gives credit to featured artists on remixes when the updated version becomes the most consumed. If sales and streams of the Minaj-enhanced edition overtake Wayne's original solo cut, then both artists will earn a new win.
While the solo edition came first and holds a several-day head start, the addition of Minaj could turn the tune into a major smash for her as well.
Another big track from Tha Carter VI is 'Sharks,' a collaboration featuring Jelly Roll and Big Sean. On Friday, when Tha Carter VI was brand new, fans focused their purchasing power on 'Sharks,' sending it toward the top of the iTunes tally. Tha Carter VI is expected to launch atop many of Billboard's hip-hop rankings and will likely open in second place on the Billboard 200, just behind I'm the Problem by Morgan Wallen.

Sister of Red Sox's Roman Anthony, MLB's top prospect, goes viral during his Red Sox debut: 'Surreal'
Boston Red Sox top prospect, and the No. 1 prospect in baseball according to MLB Pipeline, Roman Anthony made his long-awaited debut at Fenway Park on Tuesday night. While all baseball eyes were on Anthony, he wasn't the only member of the family who went viral. Lia Anthony, Roman's sister, told Boston-based WEEI's "The Greg Hill Show" that she had "quite a few DMs" after being shown on the NESN broadcast for Tuesday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays. While discussing the excitement of seeing her brother's dream come true playing in the big leagues, Lia also revealed that her Instagram following jumped from 3,000 to more than 14,000. "I mean, it's been surreal," Lia, a Florida State University graduate, told WEEI. As of Thursday night, Lia's following has reached over 17,400 followers. Lia wouldn't reveal who DMed her, and what was said. However, she was laughing at a few. "I got a couple baseball [DMs]," she explained. "But it was funny, somebody said something about how they accidentally hit their baseball [in my DMs] and asked me to throw it back." The whole Anthony family was in the front row at Fenway Park to witness Roman's debut, including father Anthony Sr., brother Anthony Jr., who goes by Tony, and mother Lori. NESN sideline reporter Jahmai Webster took the time to interview the Anthony family during the game, which was one of the main reasons Lia went viral. But she says her little brother Roman wasn't too fazed by the attention she was getting. "I think he definitely was shocked. We all were. We all were kind of in disbelief. But, I mean, he's got bigger things to focus on. So, he's just been focusing on his debut and everything. But I think we were all just shocked by it," Lia explained. Lia added that this was her first experience in Boston, where she said "the people were amazing." She also got to meet Red Sox legend David Ortiz, calling it "an unreal experience." "My mom especially was so touched by it, because David Ortiz had shared a couple words with her, talking about how incredible Roman is and how he'll be the face of the franchise," Lia said. Roman didn't have the debut he wanted, going 0-for-4 with a sacrifice fly and an RBI, but he was able to notch his first career hit, a two-RBI double, on Wednesday. Kanye West wants to attend the Sean ‘Diddy' Combs trial to support Combs in court: Source
Kanye West has been in touch with Sean 'Diddy' Combs' family about possibly attending Combs' ongoing criminal trial to show his support. A source close to Combs told CNN that West, who goes by Ye, is currently in New York City. He did not attend Thursday's court proceedings but would like to attend to show support for Combs, the source said, adding that West has been in touch with Combs' son, Christian 'King' Combs, about attending trial with the Combs family. Combs' sons have been in court for much of the trial. Christian Combs and West are currently working on music together, the source added. The individual close to Combs noted West may attend when the defense begins their presentation. Prosecutors in the case have said that their presentation is expected to wrap up next week, indicating that the defense could begin calling their own witnesses soon. West, who has been widely condemned and dropped by most of his representatives and business partners for repeated antisemitic hate speech and other controversies in recent years, has offered public support for Combs since he's been incarcerated in the lead-up to his trial. West is one of few public figures to show support for the embattled music mogul, who has been accused of sexual assault or other misconduct in more than 60 civil cases and is on trial in federal court for criminal charges that include sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy and transportation to engage in prostitution. Combs has denied all wrongdoing and has pleaded not guilty to the charges. West posted messages on social media to call for Combs' freedom ahead of his trial. In March, West released a song that featured a phone call recorded from jail between him and Combs. That song also features Christian Combs and West's daughter with Kim Kardashian. In February, West sparked outrage for selling t-shirts emblazoned with swastikas, which he promoted in a Super Bowl ad. His support for Combs on social media coincided with the firestorm that ensued over his antisemitic posts around the same time. A representative for Combs and his son, Christian, declined to comment. West is not known to be working with a public relations representative at this time and CNN was not able to contact him.
