The fourth running of the Kiwane Resort 14km and 5km runs, organised by BCMAC, takes place on Saturday morning, and for those who require assistance getting to the event there will be organised transport departing from the East London City Hall from 5am.
The man who has won the race three times in succession, Yanga Malusi, in the colours of Real Gijimas, now resides in Cape Town, but his shadow looms heavily over the 14km course, having not been seriously challenged on any of his winning occasions...

Proteas target historic T20 series victory over Australia
South Africa have never won a T20 series Down Under. Though they have some big series and tournaments coming up, Proteas batter Tristan Stubbs says the national team are fully focused on securing a historic victory over Australia in the T20 International series decider in Cairns on Saturday (11.15am start). After falling in a 17-run defeat in the opening fixture of the three-match series in Darwin, the SA team hit back to crush their hosts by 53 runs in the second game earlier this week. This set them up to target their first T20 series victory over Australia since 2009, and their first ever series win Down Under in the short format. 'We're really excited. After the first one it was really important to bounce back and it sets us up well for the series decider,' Stubbs, who was celebrating his 25th birthday, said on Thursday. Not looking too far ahead After their tour of Australia, the Proteas were set to tour England, with both series playing key roles in their long-term build-up to the T20 World Cup to be held in India and Sri Lanka early next year. And while some of the younger members of the squad were using these tours to try and cement their places in the Proteas squad for the global showpiece, Stubbs said those ambitions would be placed on the back burner this weekend. With a historic victory on the line, he said they were concentrating entirely on the match that lay ahead. 'We're a young side, so for us to win a series here in Australia would be really cool for us,' said Stubbs, who contributed 37 and 31 with the bat in the previous two matches. 'We go to England straight after this, and we can take momentum, so I think the big goal right now is to win Saturday's game.' Different pitch and conditions Having arrived in Cairns on Wednesday, Stubbs said they expected windy conditions this weekend. Despite potentially challenging conditions, however, the tourists were eager to compete on a new surface after playing the first two matches of the series in Darwin. 'It's a beautiful ground, and I'm glad we're playing on a pitch and not a drop-in. It looks amazing.' Stubbs said. 'It seems like there's a bit of wind around, and the groundsman seems to think it dies down at night, but I think it will definitely play a part.'

Kaizer Chiefs have now signed FOUR players from rival clubs within the PSL. Kaizer Chiefs have completed SEVEN signings this transfer window. So, THREE of them are from outside of South Africa. Whilst, THREE of Chiefs' confirmed signings come from sides within the PSL. Chiefs recently unveiled winger and attacker, Asanele Velebayi as their newest recruit. Meaning, Amakhosi have signed FOUR players from THREE PSL rivals (Pirates, SuperSport and Spurs). Chiefs have a new captain set to lead them into the new era. Meanwhile, Amakhosi were spotted with a new coach on the sidelines. Boks out to start Rugby Championship on a winning note against Australia
'Their set pieces have also improved and they have a solid pack, so we are expecting them to challenge us in the scrums and line-outs. We have no doubt they will be fired up and keen to try to make their presence felt in the areas of the game they are strong at.' Fassi said the Boks have prepared well for the Test match. 'We know it's going to be a physical game, and with the backs they have, we are also expecting an expansive game. 'That said, just as they have their plans, we have ours, and we know what we have to do no matter what they throw at us, because it's important for us to play our brand of rugby.' There will be added responsibility on Fassi as he was named as one of the goal-kicking options by coach Rassie Erasmus and he is relishing the opportunity. 'I have been practising my kicking a lot, even before I joined the Boks this season and I am confident with the way things are going,' said Fassi, who has scored seven tries in his 12 Tests, including a belter last year against the Wallabies in Perth. 'So, when coach Rassie told me that I'll also be a kicking option, it was a matter of putting my head down and continuing to put in the work.' With speculation rife that the Wallabies may pick James O'Connor at flyhalf for the clash, Fassi said it would not make a difference who they selected, as the Boks are focused on their own game.
