After facing heavy defeats and early exits at the ICC World Cup 2023, T20 World Cup 2024 and the Champions Trophy 2025, England are in a transition phase, with young middle-order batter Harry Brook taking over the reins from Jos Buttler who quit his post in February.
For the West Indies, captain Shai Hope and his team have an equally challenging task of reviving their presence in top-flight white-ball cricket, especially the ODIs, after hitting rock bottom and missing out on qualification in the last two ICC events.
West Indies recently faced Ireland in a three-match ODI series. After losing the opening game, West Indies bounced back to win the third and levelled the rain-marred series 1-1.

On the other hand, the England look to make a fresh start in the format after a four-month break since losing all three of their group-stage clashes in the Champions Trophy.
The West Indies would be chuffed to have their power hitter Shimron Hetmyer back after he missed the Ireland series due to IPL 2025 duties for the Rajasthan Royals.
West Indies have no major injury worries in their camp, unlike Brook & Company, who will miss the services of their ace quick Jofra Archer. England have handed returns to Will Jacks, Matthew Potts and Tom Hartley in ODIs and brought back Liam Dawson and Luke Wood in the T20I set-up.
The series features six limited-overs games including three ODIs and as many T20Is. The 50-over matches will be held in Birmingham, Cardiff and London on May 29, June 1 and 3 respectively.

He was the second-highest run-scorer in the IPL 2025 and led the Gujarat Titans well for the second time, but his runs came as an opener. The report said Sanju Samson, who scored three centuries in T20Is last year, and Abhishek Sharma, the top-ranked batter by ICC in the format, are locked in as the first-choice options. The spot for a backup opener/batter is still available, but currently, Mumbai and Rajasthan Royals' Yashasvi Jaiswal is ahead. His Mumbai teammate Shreyas Iyer is unlikely to join him, as per the report, while Jitesh Sharma (and not the likes of Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul) is expected to be the backup wicketkeeper.
