Diverse committee boosts MACC credibility, says Mohd Shahar
He said this diversity could also enhance the credibility of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Annual Report, which would be presented in due course.
Mohd Shahar said the JKmR, which monitored the MACC, remained committed to fulfilling its responsibilities with integrity to ensure the agency's mandate was carried out transparently, professionally, and free from external influence.
'JKmR and MACC must respect each other's jurisdiction, remain committed to shared objectives, and prioritise transparency to preserve public trust in national governance,' he said during a meeting with MACC's top management at the commission's headquarters in Putrajaya today.
The meeting was also attended by MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki, Deputy Chief Commissioner (Operations) Datuk Seri Ahmad Khusairi Yahaya, along with senior directors and division heads from the MACC.
During the meeting, JKmR members proposed several measures to boost MACC's credibility in its anti-corruption efforts. These included detailed strategies to improve the Corruption Perceptions Index, enhancing public perception through various communication platforms, and addressing challenges in prosecuting corruption cases.

MACC arrests won't disrupt operations, says armed forces chief
PUTRAJAYA: The detention of five armed forces intelligence personnel by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) over their alleged involvement in a contraband smuggling syndicate has not compromised military operations. Armed Forces chief General Tan Sri Mohd Nizam Jaffar said the individuals, who were part of the Malaysian Defence Intelligence Organisation (MDIO), were immediately replaced in their roles. "There has been no operational compromise. The five personnel are only detained. "We can replace them and continue operations as usual. There is no issue on the ground at all," he told reporters. The five were arrested yesterday during a MACC special operation, codenamed Op Sohor.

Integrity push abroad: MACC, embassy to launch anti-graft programmes in Indonesia
PUTRAJAYA, Aug 14 — The Malaysian Embassy in Jakarta has expressed its commitment to working with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on an anti-corruption education initiative for Malaysian officials and students in the republic. MACC Community Education Division (PenMas) director Datuk Ahmad Nizam Ismail said the matter was discussed during his courtesy call on Malaysian Ambassador to Indonesia Datuk Syed Mohamad Hasrin Tengku Hussin in Jakarta on Tuesday. He said MACC welcomed the initiative and pledged its full commitment to ensuring the programme's success. 'Among the programmes planned are the Integrity Talk, the Corruption-Free Pledge, and the Integrity Seminar on Public Fund Management by the National Association of Malaysian Students in Indonesia (PKPMI), in conjunction with the Malaysian Embassy in Jakarta's Integrity Day 2025, which will be held in September,' he said in a statement yesterday. Ahmad Nizam said the meeting provided an ideal platform for both parties to exchange views and was organised following the application by Education Malaysia Indonesia director Dr Hasnul Faizal Hushin Amri. Meanwhile, Syed Mohamad Hasrin said the Malaysian Embassy in Jakarta remained committed to fostering a culture of integrity, transparency and accountability among Malaysian government officials and agencies operating under its purview. 'The organisation of Integrity Day 2025 is in line with national aspirations and the National Anti-Corruption Plan (NACP), which emphasises the need to instil a culture of integrity at every level of public administration, including overseas and among Malaysian student associations abroad,' he said.
